'Tea party' crowd boos Cornyn, denounces Washington
http://www.statesman.com/news/content/region/legislature/stories/2009/07/05//0705teaparty.html | July 05, 2009 | Andrea Lorenz

"You're the problem!" one crowd member hollered. "You voted for TARP," yelled another.

Boos interrupted Cornyn, who won his second term last year, after he said: "This is a day of celebration, the day we celebrate our Founders, who defied empires and declared their independence."

The Apr. 15 Austin Tea Party had thousands. This one has maybe 500. I hope this doesn't mean that the movement is losing steam, because there now are even more D. C. outrages that will be especially hard on states like Texas.

He doesn’t have to defend his seat until 2014. Hutchison’s seat is up in 2010 though.

The problem is manifold.

He backed Specter until Arlen bit him right on the ass.
And I bet that he backed him the last time as well.
I'm also guessing that he is endorsing Crist 110%.

none of this is conservative.

What show was that? Most of the FOX shows don't seem too interested. They think MJ is more important.

You really cant expect momentum to keep up for a movement that is really nothing more than street theater...

People get behind REAL movements for REAL change that achieve REAL goals that are MEANINGFUL. You gotta keep taking it to the next level to build momentum, but first... You gotta know where your going. State sovereignty from the marxist fedgov is the logical next step, in fact it the only step that will take us to the ultimate goal of freedom from the oppressive tyranny of the collective(marxism).

If your unwilling to achieve total freedom then all you will achieve is slavery, for yourself and your family. There is no half way, its everything or nothing.

Cornyn is indeed nestled comfortably into the Washington insider mold. I don't trust him.

Gov. Good Hair (Rick Perry) is a total globalist elite sellout.

Perry has tried to shove this Trans-Texas Super highway (Nafta hwy) down our throats along with toll roads throughout Texas.

Not only that, he has made deals with foreign companies to come in and run them.

Rick Perry's TTC push has been resoundingly rejected by Texans from the valley to the Red River....he still tries to push it vigorously.

TTC would be the largest government land grab in Texas history. Stealing thousands of acres of ranch and farm land from hard workin families.

He deserved to be booed, he deserves to be thrown outta office.

Don't ya’ll be fooled with all this secession talk and sovereignty talk outta Perry....he’z just positioning himself politically.

The lower turn-out was predictable, given the date chosen for the second round of tea parties. It's July, for goodness sake. Here in the DFW area, it was over 100 degrees on July 4th.

At the last minute, my wife and I reluctantly decided not to put our kids through that, yesterday. We missed one of the biggest tea parties in the nation yesterday, and it was right down the street from us.

I don't think enthusiasm for the Tea Party movement has waned. Organizers across the country simply picked a terrible day to hold this latest round.

Coryn got an earful from me after the TARP vote.

The first time that I have not received a reply from Cornyn's office was after I sent the scathing letter after his TARP vote. Told him that next election I will vote in the donk primary, and support whatever donk runs against him. If I am going to have to live with democrat-lite from the Texas GOP, might as well vote for a blue-dog.

In Longview, they mentioned that the one in April was larger - but that people from 9 other counties were there. This time, some of those counties had their own.

Our Congressman, Louie Gohmert, was a speaker in April. This time he just sent a letter to be read. No politicians were there as speakers. Louie said he would be at the one in Austin.

He also said in his letter that he was one of the ONLY 17 that had voted against all of the huge spending bills. I knew he was one who stayed last August to push for more drilling, but I did not know that he was one of only 17.

You are right about having a fill of corrupt and incompetent ‘Leaders’.

Funny thing (Pathetic as well) is that I think people are being numbed to it all, at least here in Mich. They seem to expect that any Detroit Black Pol is corrupt and this expectation appears to be infecting their expectations about Pols in general, regardless of Race. The actions of DC Pols simply reinforces this expectation.

As much as I would like to see serious, and I mean SERIOUS repercussions I’m afraid the bar has been lowered so much and this type of behavior has been so Mainstreamed that most will just hunker down and try to protect themselves rather than really mount an effort.

Hope I am wrong but that’s what I see. Instead of getting Pitch Forks, Torches and Ropes the response is a shrug and rolling of eyes.
