Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit
Women of the Web ^ | July 4, 2009 | Ann Coulter

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:17:12 PM PDT by SolidWood

I’m confused by all the confusion among the chattering classes about Palin. I thought her press conference explained it very clearly – though she couldn’t put it precisely this way without sounding vain, but it’s obvious.

Even though she’s just a state governor, she’s a HUGE national star who is both sought after and attacked as if she is already a president (a Bush, not an Obama). But she basically can’t participate because she’s tethered to the governor’s office up in Alaska. Consequently, she has to fight with one hand tied behind her back and she also can’t go around the country campaigning for candidates and principles she believes in – because she’s governor and would be accused of neglecting the state.

Meanwhile, the Lt. Gov. is a great guy, so she’s leaving the state in good hands and now she can go on to be an even bigger star.

It’s a weird Washington insider perspective to be perplexed by what she’s doing. Contrary to Mark Sanford’s e-mails to his mistress, no one was really impressed with him; 99.99999999999999999% of Americans didn’t know who he was. Who is more influential: Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge and Bill O’Reilly, or Tim Pawlenty, Bobby Jindal and Mark Sanford (before the fall)? As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals. None of this applied to McCain or Kerry – both of whom went back to the Senate – because their national campaigns diminished them. Palin’s national campaign made her a major star. As she said, she’s not retreating, she’s advancing in another direction.

Haven't heard a word. He and his wife Marilyn are a loss to the RNC leadership.

Ya know, though ......

With all Dan's problems with the media .... do you suppose maybe some of them were, well, you know, ......Palinesque? As in, somebody big and tall inside the RNC leadership, feeding old Dan to the sharks bit by bit, like what's been happening to Sarah?

After all, Quayle wasn't a member of The Club.

Reagan lost the first run for President to Ford at the convention.

I thought he ran even earlier. Like in '68.

Much of the conservative base that should have supported Fred, instead supported a faux conservative huckster.

Deserves-repeating bump. Huckabee is a product of the same Arkansas political environment (and I think the same machine, the Stevens Little Rock machine) that produced Bill Clinton.

As for Fred, he started late because (and most people aren't aware of this) he had contractual obligations through August 2007 to NBC. He had to wait to declare, lest he become liable for NBC's having to pull some of their summer reruns of the previous season's Law and Order episodes, until after Labor Day 2007. That was too late. The train had left the station.

Has nobody noticed how everybody in the Democrat party is drooling over the prospect of Palin running in ‘12?

No they're not, you very obvious troll.

They're terrified, so much so that they are logging onto Free Republic to attack her.

It’s refreshing to see a Romney supporter like Ann stand up for Sarah.

Governor Palin proved herself in the governor's office as much as she was able to. If she had run for re-election, she would have been occupied with that for the last year of her current term. Since she decided not to run for re-election, it only made sense to hand the office to the Lt. Governor now when the legislature is in recess until January, and the budget process for the next fiscal year is in the preliminary stages.

If the stupid national media had backed off attacking her and her family after Obama had been elected, she might have been happy to finish out her term. (There is nothing more dangerous than an upset mother. In Alaska, it doesn't pay to get between a mother moose and her baby.)

I suspect the reason the media, the liberals, and the Republicans dismiss and attack Palin is because they are afraid of her. (Don't push Romney either. I'm not voting for him.)

With Obama pushing socialist programs one after another and displaying a lack of understanding (and arrogance) with the average American's situation, and with frustated people having Tea Parties, there is a huge opportunity for someone who isn't part of the entrenched "political elite".

Regarding the latest petty complaint about her fishing: Most people in Alaska will take the opportunity to take an afternoon off and go fishing. In fact, the Anchorage media was caught off guard because most of them took Friday off and were out of town fishing.

When Kerry and McCain ran for President without giving up their Senate seats, you got the feeling that they felt like they were owed a certain lifestyle and position, and that they would gladly risk leaving the voters of their state in the lurch in order to maintain them.

The right thing to do when running for higher office is to resign your current position and take your chances. That way the voters of your state have the opportunity to select your replacement in the normal fashion. If you win your run for higher office, everybody has a chair when the music stops. If you lose, you have to go out into the private sector after election day. This should not be such a horrible prospect.

She couldn’t even finish ONE term! Why in the world would anyone vote for her as President, when she has so little experience, and she quit the governor’s job, which was hardly even started!

I will be the first one to vote for her then...And I'll bet there are a few more...

Coulter is partially right. Palin IS a huge star among a large group of voters. There is also a large group of voyers who detest Palin as well.

And yet, we do not agree with this move she has made. I, one of her supporters, who likes her, probably will never vote for her, because she didn’t finish her term. She didn’t keep her oath, or her word. When the tough times came, she cut and run.

Your opinion is clearly on the record now. Enough whining. Geez.

If it was a mistake, it is done. If it isn't, time will tell. Your incessant whining, whether sincere or otherwise, will not change that.

Enough already.

Just out of curiousity, how did she not keep her oath or her word?

Also, you don't call it cutting and running when you stop one direction to turn and face your enemies head on. What she is doing is the opposite of cutting and running. It is turning and attacking.

You think it is a bad idea. Fine. I question your motives in trying to convince others that it is a bad idea. Just let it play out and we'll know. Your over-the-top insincerity about this does nothing positive.

"She is a pathological liar and about the most calculating personalitiy to take the national stage in memory."

1. Any evidence for that statement?

2. If she is as bad as you say, she has some pretty stiff competition in Obama.

Look at how much experience Obama has. And he never accomplished a fraction of what Palin has done.

It’s shameful that so many people on this site couldn’t figure this out for themselves. It’s even more shameful if they did get it, but just bashed Sarah because they’re supporting some other candidate. They’re no better than liberals.
