Yeah, I remember when Danny was on the space committee. He wanted to send a satellite to orbit the sun. Informed that it would be too dangerous, he suggested performing the mission at night.

Amiable yes. Dunce? Only if you believe a false stereotype.

You’re talking about the governor who had a budget surplus and has fought and even cut taxes.

She’ll be much bigger now and can play on the national stage without constantly setting off state ethics investigations by loons, parasites and liberals.

Two for one special with this one - Ann and Sarah!

Let me know if you'd like to be added to the Ann Coulter ping list.

Press secretary would be good, Ann could annoy the press every morning at the briefings BUT as a Supreme Court Justice, she could annoy liberals for decades! Maybe even drive some of them to an early demise! lol

As Palin said, God bless people who run for political office, but – and she didn’t say this part – she’s too big to be a lame-duck governor stuck dealing with fishing licenses in Anchorage right now.

I guess Governor of Alaska isn't as important a job as it was during the election. I know it's not the popular thing to say, but I think Palin should have stayed and continued to be the best Governor in America.

Just watched Ann Coulter defending Sarah Palin on FOX and had a wonderful thought, President Palin putting Ann on the Supreme Court. :)

We'd better get the Senate back, then...it would have to be a complete flip, in order to make it a potential filibuster-proof Senate.

If you can’t fight off jive attacks with the power of the Governorship, how less so without that power. Time will tell.

If she thinks she is being attacked now, she needs to know it is much worse when you live on Pennslyvania Ave, and you just go and resign from that when it gets nasty.

Sorry, but I find your opinion just plain wrong.

She explained herself quite well even mentioning that 80% of her time was fighting off false charges (and winning all of them) and that it was costing both the State of Alaska and her family many millions of dollars.

She, if you had bothered to listen to her resignation speech, made it quite clear that she was not quiting or sitting down but basically she was going to keep fighting and was looking for (My paraphrasing) a higher office or more important thing to do.

Next time, you might want to listen to the related speech and get all the details before you post your opinion.

She very successfully fought off all of the attacks, both those from public figures like Letterman and those from pricks who tried to tie her up legally with false charges.

She has fought all along and NOTHING in her speech or her previous actions would provide you or anyone else with the idea that she was giving up or could be construed as showing her as weak.

Nice try, quit being a tool of the Democrats, the Media, and GOP elite.

I love Fred, but, seriously, he wimped out on us the last cycle.

Fred Thompson didn't "wimp out" on anyone. He reluctantly gave up his comfortable life because he was convinced by supporters that their would be a large conservative base for his candidacy. There wasn't. If anyone "wimped out" it was the self proclaimed "social" conservatives who were played like a fiddle by Huckabee and his supporters. Much of the conservative base that should have supported Fred, instead supported a faux conservative huckster.

Fred only does things his way and wasn't about to stick around when the reason for his candidacy didn't materialize. Come to think of it, that's one of the things that drives some people crazy about Sarah, she does things her own way even if it doesn't please the pundits. I like that about both of them.

You and me both. Dumb move. Really, really dumb. I am just sick over it. I was happy when I thought she was just not going to seek re-election, but when I heard she is quitting the job before she was finished...hey, many, many people I have talked to, do not find that to be cool. It is irresponsible.

Also, that line Coulter wrote about the governor of Alaska ‘dealing with fishing licenses’..well, how insulting! Listen, if that is all Sarah did as governor, then why would Ann think she would ever be qualified to be President?! Ann is making herself sound ignorant-—as well as Sarah Palin.

Gosh! This upsets me!

Hey, Fred let us down. I was one who wrote him and asked him to run...but was left wanting, when I heard him speak. He waited too long to get into the race. During the debate when he had to give unscripted answers-—he was horrible. Naw, Fred wasn’t what we thought he was. Coulter called that one.

...she was poorly educated...

What a tired canard. She became governor of the largest state in the union in spite of not having the connections the 'right' people get with their IV League diploma.

If daddy doesn't buy you the job, you get there on merit, no other way.

This is just a continuation of the "the opposition is dumb" nonsense the Liberals (who control much of post-secondary "education") have been pushing.

If you disagree with them, you must be dumb, right? /s

As governor she had the bully pulpit. Now she has nothing.

She should learn from history, what happened to her hero, Teddy Roosevelt when he quit and then tried for a comeback. It don’t work!

Obviously, you are in a state of deep political depression. But remember this conversation in the future.

There is a bright, sunny sky opening up behind the clouds.

Besides, just think of what the alternatives are...pale, white, male politicians who go wobbly on the core conservative values we believe in.

Sarah sounds like America, says the things most Americans believe, and if that message doesn’t come through in 2012, it will in 2016.

Just remember this conversation, say, about a year from now.

And yet this is the same path, minus the resignation, taken by Ronald Reagan, that is, starting early, traveling the country to espouse a libertarian Republican message of limited government, a strong military, and a strong conservative Social Issues contract.

Furthermore, now she will be able to help the GOP gain back the House during the 2010 campaign season further strengthening her army.

You apparently need to learn from history.

Furthermore, she ain't trying for a comeback, she is going to seek higher office.

You apparently did not listen to her resignation speech.

All I got from it was hope for the future.

You apparently are willing to be a tool of the Democrats, the Media, and the GOP elite.

You are going to be disappointed, because she is going to turn the political world upside down.

Just wait and see!

Reagan finished his term as governor. He did the job he was elected to do. Sarah is not going to.

This is her ruination. She is politically dead now. Dems know it, and were probably the ones who tricked her into making this decision.

Most Americans will NOT respect a person who quits their job and leaves their responsibilities to someone else. They will NOT vote her in as President. To win, she would have to get the most votes, from all of America. Americans do not admire a quitter. That is just a fact. They will not trust her.

Stupid move, stupid, stupid move!

Palin is a frickin blight on the Conservative movement.

She is a pathological liar and about the most calculating personalitiy to take the national stage in memory.

This latest move is obviously a grab for money, and I mean hers.

You miserable, ugly troll. How dare you? Your post is worthy of the very worst droppings that have ever been left on this board by mindless liberal moonbat turd burglars.

You are an agent-provocateur. Here's some proof from your posting history:

I think there’s a chance to force Obama to govern from the center.

...some of you knee-jerk freepers think that anybody who is interested in moving forward is somehow a Communist.

...it’s total crap that Obama voted for killing babies who survived abortion.

Obama is the guy who will be the moderate. Have you really been listening to him? If you think it is BS, let’s at least give it a try, huh?

Yes, it is time to begin to seriously consider compromise where we can, and standing on principle where we must.

Give Obama the respect he deserves. If he f*@cks up, then we say so. For now, we need unity.

We expected respect for Bush, no matter what their party. We can give no less to Obama until he shows he doesn’t deserve it. Frankly I liked his speech tonight and what he said about McCain.

...if anybody, I mean ANYBODY, tries to say something positive about Dems or libs, they get booted off, right?

Obama does not say that in Audacity of Hype. I’ve read the book.

The conversation on this board lurches into insanity.

I think I will lay off criticising Obama here. I think the comments on this board are not worthy of freerepublic. Obama’s not a Muslim — he’s a certain kind of Christian and should be faced as he is.

frankly, McCain is brilliant. ‘Nuff said.

Yes, I cherry picked comments out of your posts. You've also made statements supportive of conservatives and the Republican party, but in context, I think every one of those positive comments was part of a calculated smoke-screen by you.

Give it up, tool. You've been had.

no, you are wrong. (i don’t think i’ve ever said this on FR)

fred is a lousy leader. he does not have the drive. he proved this during the primaries.

m. steele is also not worth it. skin color doesn’t mean jack in my book. he has let the left savage Sarah AND her family, ever since the party put them in that position (ok, he wasn’t in charge from the beginning, but he was there during the d.letterman stuff)

as for the media, screw them. they aren’t getting any of my advertising money.

if the republicans actually want to do something, just about EVERY AM talk show would have them on. why aren’t they on 5 days a week discussing their policies and why smaller government combined with smaller taxes, improves everything? why aren’t they on the tv talk shows? the local fairs in their district?

at this point, the RNC and the GOP look toothless. my own congresscritters haven’t even updated their own blogs in over 2 months. it’s pathetic. my only hope is that they are playing it smart... not doing anything and allowing the dems enough rope to hang themselves.

sadly, i highly doubt this is the case.

YOU need to listen to what others here are saying. You can not bully her into office, just because you admire her.

We are conservatives here who are speaking. Of course I listened to every word of her speech. Several times.

Many of us admire Mrs. Palin and supported her. And yet, we do not agree with this move she has made. I, one of her supporters, who likes her, probably will never vote for her, because she didn’t finish her term. She didn’t keep her oath, or her word. When the tough times came, she cut and run.

That is how a supporter sees it.

How in heaven’s name would anyone who didn’t support her to begin with, be convinced to vote for her now? It doesn’t make any sense.

Be realistic. This is NOT the same path Reagan took! Reagan stood his ground and fought in his place. He was invited to speak around the country, BECAUSE he was governor! Can’t you see that? He used the bully pulpit. He was smart. Sarah has now lost her validity....she can not speak about fighting for something, when she didn’t actually DO the fighting. She gave up and decided to play a different game.

This is such a huge loss! This is a tragedy for the republican party. I am so, so sick about it. Dear God, it seems like a bad dream....I am so disappointed I can not stand it!
