Sarah Palin Lacks What The GOP Needs Most [And What "Ideas" Did Obama Have?]
LATimes ^ | July 05, 2009

Posted on 07/05/2009 10:24:30 PM PDT by Steelfish

Sarah Palin lacks what the GOP needs most

The Republicans need a White House candidate with ideas, steadiness and the ability to unify. That's not Alaska's departing governor.

Doyle McManus July 5, 2009

Is Sarah Palin the answer the Republican Party is looking for?

Not likely. Palin's abrupt announcement that she's quitting as governor of Alaska may be part of a long-term strategy that leads to the Oval Office. But at the moment, it looks more like the impulsive act of a hot-headed politician who can't abide criticism -- poor attributes for anyone who hopes to run for president.

Take Palin at her word: She decided to quit because she didn't think she could get much done for Alaska in her remaining 18 months in office, beset as she was with ethics charges that never seemed to go away.

"My staff and I spend most of our day ... dealing with this stuff instead of progressing our state," she complained.

Stupid-ass LA Times. No wonder nobody reads that rag. It's not that the charges never seemed to go away, it's that her haters filed endless frivolous charges which drag on for months and years by design.

Good for you, Sarah Palin!

At a time in American history when our liberties are under direct assault, our focus should be on how we can regain our country’s freedoms by understanding, supporting and embracing leaders who possess real character, courage, honesty, and integrity, leaders that put faith, country, and family at the forefront of their daily lives – Leaders like Sarah Palin who because of her outside Washington DC politics position, has seen herself and her family mercilessly attacked by those who do not possess 1/10th of her integrity and character. We respect Sarah for taking this stand. After all, it is most apparent that Sarah’s liberal adversaries are engaging in distractive techniques to prevent her from reaching the battle frontline where she would be a formidable force for the good of this country – these distractive malicious attacks are similar to the devil’s spirit of distraction anytime a servant of the Lord attempts to follow His guidance. Hence, Sarah’s advancement in a new direction is totally understandable under the circumstances and we hope that she will re-emerge in the political arena in the future. God knows this country needs leadership that holds to the values and principles that made this nation the greatest on earth.

So she's nobody if she isn't elected POTUS in 2012?

What if she helps to elect 20 additional Republican congressmen and 6 additional Republican Senators in 2010?

What if she helps to elect a different Republican as President in 2012?

What if she espouses a cohesive message that Republicans can rally behind, such as the 1994 Contract With America? What if she draws fire away from other Republicans so that they don't have such a hard row to hoe?

One thing I can guarantee with 100% certainty about the 2012 election: Doyle McManus will not be elected President Of The United States. So he might lay off the 'you're pond scum if you're not elected President in 2012' meme.

The L.A. Times has less than zero credibility on the subject of how to build a conservative movement in America, and which people are suitable to lead it.

The L.A. Times would drive the entire conservative movement into a ditch through deliberately bad advice, given half a chance.

She’s not it . We need someone of almost historical proportions to turn this massive tide of leftism around.

my opinion from a female POV, I believe she’s one of the best going now to shatter that glass ceiling. But of course that’s just my ‘selfish’ opinion. I’d love to see her govern and have an awesome group of people surrounding her.

It really is time for a large group of elder “statesmen/women to retire and go home. They’ve over stayed their welcome.

Jay Cost, who is no big fan of Palin’s chances, put it best.

Republicans will not spend time in the wilderness looking for ideas. They will spend time in the wilderness until they find leaders to bring them back.

Palin, I suspect, is one such leader. She needs to get more on the bone to get to where Reagan was, but she has time.

She has to pay her dues, though.

Best,

Chris

politicians MUST never fear being sued by the deep pockets of the opposition... just for daring to run.

if this is allowed to stand, then every candidate will be targeted when opposed by deep pockets. (i still don’t understand why people are not outraged over this fact)

Liberals giving conservatives advice again?

The Repbulicans problem is not that they don’t have good ideas. It’s that they have no credibility that they will do what they promise once elected. When they had both houses and the White House they failed on Social Security and Medicare reform, energy, balancing the budget, controlling illegal immigration, etc., etc. That why the Democrats could run as supposed tax cutters and budget balances. That anyone could believe that shows how pathetic the Pub business as usual corruption has gone.

What needs to be done isn’t dependent on new ideas. What’s needed is someone who really believes all that stuff that the beltway people ridicule about smaller government and American values. Somebody with the guts to say exactly what needs to be said, and not be afraid to step on toes. And that’s Sarah Palin.

The liberal media thinks Sarah Palin is wrong as a candidate.

If that is true, why are they wasting so much ink across the country trying to tell us she's a loser?

If she can't possibly win the presidency, why are they so relentlessly working so hard against her candidacy?
