Romney Is the GOP's Last and Only Hope (Who didn't see this one coming?)

Soon the Republican party will have no choice but to make Mitt Romney its leader. We've seen a suspiciously steady trickle of losers quietly exiting the ranks of 2012 hopefuls -- Bobby Jindal with his disastrous State of the Union rebuttal; John Ensign and Mark Sanford with their affairs; and most recently, Sarah Palin's bizarre resignation from the Alaska governorship. The only candidates left are Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty and Romney.
If history is any guide, we should expect some foul disclosure out of the Huckabee camp any day now. You just can't get away with saying something like this less than 48 hours after a fellow conservative Republican has made a dramatic announcement about leaving office:
[R]eferring to the ethics inquiries Palin faces, Huckabee said of his own time as a GOP governor in an overwhelmingly Democratic state: "If that had been the case for me, I would've quit in my first month. If she's looking to be a national political figure, it's not going to get easier."
You can bet that every major news organization in America took that sound bite and quietly filed it away under "Hypocrisy Watch" for replaying when Huckabee announces that he can't take the heat, so he's getting out of the kitchen. The only question is this: what confession of hideously depraved malfeasance will soon be forcing pious Mike Huckabee out of the public eye forever?

So the left wants to tell Republicans and conservatives who their "leader" is and who to nominate? We're damned fools if we let them!

The liberal media soiling their pants over the Palin announcement. They know this is the beginning not the end for her, and it scares the hell out of them.

There will NEVER be a Republican the media will like unless he/she is far left. Even if someone is as pure and clean as pure driven snow like Palin, the media will dirty her up with false charges

Romney cannot win California or any other big state with significant non-caucasian populations. He’s way too milquetoast and simply can’t relate to millions of voters. Palin can pull it of because the MSM has made her the underdog. Otherwise, we need an “ethnic” candidate with conservative principles who won’t pull an Uncle Colin on us..... (Republican until it is convenient to do otherwise...)

Sanford torpedoed himself because he couldn't control his schlong. Palin has freedom to travel the country and campaign openly now because she isn't tethered to a day job and a neverending series of bulls*** ethics charges.
There are a lot of economic conservatives who are Romney supporters. Sarah isn't going to win without them. She might even need to offer him second spot on the ticket as Ronald Reagan did for George Bush.

Its not even the Mormon thing. I doubt that would be an issue after Obama. Romney is just to “white.” We need a conservative that can relate to the vast non-white voting block.

The only candidates left are Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty and Romney I have a feeling there are more than 3 possible candidates among the 66 million Republicans in the country. It is likely (and maybe preferable) if our candidate next time is someone not on the radar.
Of course, Duncan Hunter could run again -- he's still young. There are a dozen Governors who could decide to get into the race and would be credible.
They completely left off Mitch Daniels, who has been actively considered as a candidate.
It's way too early to try to constrict the list to 3 people like the media is trying to do here, or to a single candidate as some freepers are trying to do with Palin.
To: April Lexington
Pawlenty is sort of the Republican Mark Warner or Tim Kaine: a guy whose reputation as a rising star lasts precisely until he opens his mouth in front of a large national audience. I have to admit that was funny. I can't disagree with your statement either, but the same would apply to Huck or Pawlenty. So Sarah, it has got to be!

It should be evident now as to exactly who torpedoed Sanford and Palin. I don't get this. Pro-Sarah Freepers are saying that, far from being torpedoed, her resignation was a brilliant political move. So, did Romney set out to torpedo Palin, but his nefarious plan backfired? Or was Palin's resignation a blunder, which Romney inveigled her into doing?
As for Sanford, I'd really like to hear speculation on the mechanics of how Romney engineered Sanford's love affair with his Argentinian soulmate

We do it pretty darn regularly. The media and Republican establishment anoints some loser/betrayer/clown. We lose with him. And the media laughs and floats us another one, just as bad as the last candidate.
Then we all dance on cue like mice on a treadmill trying to get this new clown elected in a desperate attempt to stave off the Democrats, as the Rino slavemasters all the while blast us with continuing insults, telling us to shut up and elect their latest monstrosity. Then they blame us afterward when he isn’t elected. Then the cycle starts all over again...
I watched old Mitt groveling before Teddy Kennedy in 1994, promising to support every liberal cause better than the Man from Chappaquiddick. He was one of the few GOP losses that night. He’d have been like the Maine sisters in the senate if elected.
Don’t drink his poison, people. It’s the same old Rino swill.

No - too many fellow Baptists would die sooner than see a “Christian” who believes that Jesus played with indians as told by a man looking through a magic hat.
If Romney is the best republicans can offer - a fake conservative from a cult religion - we’d just as soon stay home come election day.
