One faux-conservative I know is lauding Barack Obama as the second coming of Ronald Reagan. Hes comprehensively wrong because Obama is Reagans polar opposite in all but political talent. Nevertheless, our 44th president is clearly a student of the 40th.
Reagan said, The nearest thing to eternal life we will ever see on this earth is a government program. Like a dead Caesar deified by the Roman Senate, a government program achieves a sort of political immortality as soon as its beneficiaries are established and begin to reward their congressional protectors.
Since his inauguration, Obamas spending spree has taken us to the point that, as the president said, weve run out of money. But its a mistake for conservatives to focus only on the spending. Obamas actions are growing government power so quickly and in so many ways that their combined effect cannot yet be measured.

Take away the teleprompter and he doesn’t even have that.
hahaha great photo collage, yeah get those curtains straight Obambam and dont get a hang nail or anything
These usurpations are not done in the teeth of resistance of the American people. Most people are either unaware of what is going on or have a very narrow exposure to the full Obama take over. Their insight is limited and conditioned by the media.
The elites who do know what is going on have a very big stake in seeing it accomplished. If you read the reports of the growing control of the market by Goldman Sachs can you really believe that any executive, or any investors such as Warren buffet for that matter, are opposed to what is going on? If you are an executive of General Electric and you are the recipient of billions of dollars of government "investments" are you going to speak out? Or are you going to let MSNBC speak out on your behalf? If you are an executive of General Motors, dare you speak out? If you are an executive of Wal-Mart and you conclude that you could hurt your competitors by supporting a health care plan, why would you speak out? If you are an insurance company and you conclude that if you do not cooperate with the ministration on healthcare you will be utterly destroyed, what do you do?
If you are the head of a union and you see the preferences awarded to the UAW in the Chrysler deal, do you speak out against the administration? If you are bondholder in the Chrysler deal and you are represented by funds that have been utterly intimidated, do you hear the executives of those funds speaking out?
The point of all this is that Obama is not a fool and conservatives who persist in proclaiming that he is dumber than a Teleprompter are just misleading themselves and delaying the reckoning for the general public. Obama is not stupid, he is inwardly directed and very manipulative. He is a thoroughly dangerous man in power. He must be morally destroyed or he will do mortal damage to the Republic we were bequeathed because he will go on and on.
Do not be seduced by the calming assumption that the rest of our citizens think the way we do. They do not. In fact, they scarcely think about politics at all. When they do they draw their conclusions from what they see on television. Only the gravest disruption of their own lives will cause them to vote against their television reality.
By the time healthcare and Cap and Trade roll around for a vote, most of American industry and our other institutions will be thoroughly co-opted. By the time the midterm elections roll around, we may be a wash in immigration tsunami.
I posted this reply recently:
I don't think we are even beginning to understand the forces that are arrayed against us. I think that the shadow party described by David Horowitz in his book of that name begins to glimpse the stranglehold which Soros and his few cronies have over our media, our institutions, and the Democrat party. We do not even have the weapons to begin counter battery fire.
It is terrifying to watch Obama pick off our industry leaders such as General Motors and General Electric one by one as he co-opts them to support his socialist takeover. This he does with a combination of intimidation and promises reminiscent of Adolf Hitler in 1933. All of this is shielded by a media hypnotized by its own visions of a new race renaissance in America and utterly incapable therefore of mustering critical oversight. The Soros operation controls so much money that it is doubtful that the Republicans will be able to compete realistically. The ground game has been won a long time ago by Acorn and the unions. The air war has been lost for a long time. The war has really now moved into cyberspace where the Republicans are so outclassed that they do not even know what is coming at them.
Finally, there are the unmeasurable but very real cumulative effect of years of liberal education and liberal media. Add to this an equally irresistible tidal wave of immigration and the odds against the Republicans lengthen literally every passing day to the point where our chances can only be redeemed by Obama himself.
All this news media about there being NO adoring crowds in Russia is simply a set up by his own hacks.
My guess is that there will be crowds as the O advance team is nearly as effective as bubba’s.
Check out the picture on Drudge of the O’s arriving in Russia.
Michelle is growing bigger and bigger by the minute.
Pictures speak a thousands of words.
Reagan: Morning in America
obama: mourning in America
Prescient commentary on your part.
As a former interpreter in Berlin a few decades back, it is impossible for me to avoid the comparison of the current American tragedy in slow motion with the similar processes of the early 1930’s in Italy and Germany.
If we are lucky, Zero will not be a precursor to a Tyranny, but rather the Balkanization of our republic. The latter is merely an unhappy outcome; the former is both possible and catastrophic.
I agree that there is little resistance now and most of our countrymen are drunk on the excesses of the culture. That will change. There is still a sizeable minority who will fight and establish self-organizing communities.
Recommendations? 1. Pray, and trust God. 2. Develop exceptional local and national political situational awareness (already true of many Freepers). 3. Press the fight for the constitutional republic as long as possible; 4. Get out of the cities and be prepared to live ‘off the grid’ for the better part of a year. 5. Prepare for financial upheaval beyond anything we have seen yet (both inflation and stagnation of the economy) - net worth permitting, get out of debt and put some of your portfolio in metals, gas/oil and perhaps good farmland. 6. Get to where you have good neighbors and become their friend. 7. Prepare for some armed defense at some point.
Self-initiated downsizing and changing of your situation now, while requiring some sacrifice, is much better than compelled sacrifice later. Disruption is unavoidable.
Key take-away: Self-organizing community.
Thassall.
