Rick Warren calls for Christian-Muslim partnership (I knew he was a phony!)
One News Now ^ | 7/6/2009 | Sarah Karush

Posted on 07/06/2009 6:52:03 AM PDT by IbJensen

WASHINGTON, DC – Defying some of his fellow conservative Christian critics, one of the most prominent religious leaders in the country told several thousand American Muslims on Saturday that "the two largest faiths on the planet" must work together to combat stereotypes and solve global problems.

"Some problems are so big you have to team tackle them," evangelical megachurch pastor Rick Warren addressed the annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

Warren said Muslims and Christians should be partners in working to end what he calls "the five global giants" of war, poverty, corruption, disease, and illiteracy.

Warren, founder of Saddleback Community Church in Orange County, California, is the author of The Purpose Driven Life, which has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide. His willingness to show support for U.S. Muslims is a huge gain for the community, which has endured intense scrutiny since 9/11.

Islam Jihad dominateA Southern Baptist, Warren has a record of upsetting fellow Christian conservatives by calling old-guard evangelical activists too partisan and narrowly focused. Ahead of his speech Saturday, bloggers who follow Warren had already denounced his appearance at the convention as cozying up to extremists.

Warren acknowledged the controversy during his 20-minute speech.

"It's easier to be an extremist of any kind because then you only have one group of people mad at you," he said. "But if you actually try to build relationships — like invite an evangelical pastor to your gathering — you'll get criticized for it. So will I."

In his speech, Warren also urged Muslims and Christians to speak out against stereotyping of any group and to respect each other even while disagreeing. Addressing Muslims who "have been in America for many generations now," he urged them to help "the newcomers learn what it means to be American."

Based in Plainfield, Indiana, ISNA is an umbrella organization for Muslim groups across the country. The annual convention, now in its 46th year, regularly draws more than 30,000 people for lectures, prayer, and socializing.

Many in the crowd were drawn to the session by prominent Muslim scholars such as Sheik Hamza Yusuf of the Zaytuna Institute in Berkeley, California.

Ann Zahra, 42, said she had never heard of Warren before Saturday but agreed with much of his speech. "The basics are the same," said Zahra, of McLean, Va. "No religion teaches cruelty or disrespect or hatred."

...one of the most prominent religious leaders in the country...

Really? I never heard of him until he hosted an Obomba interview and tossed cream puff questions at him.

A-Hole.
If he wants to see how Muslims can work with Christians he should ask Brigette Gabriel, any Copt, or CHristian Sudanese and Nigerians.

Yes, but he has the trait apparent in many Americans and their leaders: the desire to be liked by his opponnents, but who are Warren’s opponents? As you say, he is really known in just a few circles. But he surely likes Obama.

Seems to me that mohammedanism is a leading cause of war, poverty, corruption, disease, and illiteracy.

James 4:4 is but one of the proscriptions in scripture about being friends with the world.

You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

must work together to combat stereotypes and solve global problems.

Warren appears not to comprehend that from the perspective of Muslims the main global problem is how to most effectively convert the rest of the world to Islam -- by sword, by homicide bombing, or by nuclear detonations?

DOES teach peace and respect and love and truth... but only to fellow Muslims.

All others are to be treated as dogs or swine.

Apostle Paul: 1 Corinthians 2:2 - For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Rick Warren: Buy my book and do works of faith with Muslims.

Apostle Paul: 2 Corinthians 6:14 - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (15) And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

Rich Warren: Buy my book and do works of faith with Muslims.

If Warren continues on this road he'll be rendered insignificant, which in my case he's been from the first time I listened to him.

Imagine. Calling on muslims to solve global problems when all they can do is read manuals that lead them through the bomb building steps.

It's bad enough that they read what the perverted 'prophet' wrote and blow themselves up hoping to meet new girls.

This illustrates the problem with this approach:

No Ann, the basics are antithetical. I wish the pastor had explained them to you instead of chasing peace.

Seems to me that mohammedanism is a leading cause of war, poverty, corruption, disease, and illiteracy.

Since the collapse of the Soviet Union, I believe it has surpassed Marxism as the number one cause.

The Mohammedans already have a model in place for Christian-Muslim partnership. It is that we Christians, Jews and other infidels either convert, die or pay tribute known as Jizya for the right to survive. Which of these three options do you prefer, Ricky Boy? As for me, I prefer none of the above. I'll fight the bast*rds first!

We are indeed living in an age of great demonic deception and delusion. In fact, the Bible clearly says of these last Laodicean days:

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (1 Timothy 4:1)

The signs of the times:
“...that great city (located in the Middle East), that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls.” (Revelation 18:16)

This is already here but not as prevalent at this time as predicted in God's Word:
“...and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands...” (Revelation 20:4)

I began to be dubious about Rick Warren when I noticed several local churches advertising his ‘40 Days Of Purpose’ program at the same time. My own church did it, too. I figure that Saddleback, Inc. (or whatever they call it) made several thousand dollars just on my own church— one of tens of thousands of other congregations. Then combine that with book sales, hosting massive church conferences/conventions, etc. Somebody is raking in tens of millions of dollars.

It makes me wonder if the real focus is sales or evangelism. Stupid statements like this one makes me believe it is the former.

Nor I. I only hear about the con artist Warren here on Free Republic.

Any Pastor worth his salt is preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and not trying to create One World Globalism.

The book of Revelations doesn’t tell a very happy tale about what happens to the people of the world once they choose a One World system of government.

Yes....He did mince words. You just weren't listening.

Warren, also, prayed in the name of "Isa", which is the Muslim "Jesus", who, according to Muslims and the Koran, never died on a cross; was a faithful Muslim prophet; comes back to break the cross; kills the pigs (Christians); eliminate Christianity from the face of the earth; and to assist in creating a Muslim dominated planet.

Don't be deceived.

It looks to me like Rick Warren is doing his part to help bring about the one-world religion spoken of in the Scriptures which will exist during the Tribulation.

I wonder if Warren has any awareness at all of exactly what it is that he is doing and what it is that he's participating in?
