Opposition leader Tzipi Livni on Monday questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's commitment to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
In a highly anticipated foreign policy address at Bar-Ilan University last month, Netanyahu said he would be ready to agree to a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside Israel, a reversal of the premier's longstanding opposition to a two-state solution.
In remarks to lawmakers at the Knesset, the former foreign minister accused the premier of paying lip service to the concept of a Palestinian state.
In remarks to lawmakers at the Knesset, the former foreign minister accused the premier of paying lip service to the concept of a Palestinian state. "I, like everyone, heard the speech at Bar-Ilan University [in which Netanyahu said Israel would agree to a demilitarized Palestinian state] and I didn't know whether to be happy or not," the Kadima chairwoman said on Monday.
"The prime minister still does not really believe that this is the right path for Israel but he understands that this is the right thing to say," Livni said. "'The world is demanding it, so I have to say it.' This is how Netanyahu explained it to his faction members."
The Kadima-led opposition submitted a no-confidence measure to the parliament on Monday against the government, which recently concluded its first 100 days in office.
Netanyahu told his cabinet Sunday that the government has won "broad national consensus" in Israel for the concept of a two-state solution, hailing it as a major achievement of his 100-day-old coalition.
"Netanyahu doesn't really believe that two states, a Jewish state and a Palestinian state, even a demilitarized one, is an Israeli interest," Livni charged on Monday.

Livni's dream must be to have a highly militarized "palestine state" so they can have even more autonomy to receive international funds directly and spend it all on weapons to throw at Israel.
With Israelis like Zippy, who needs Hamas? If they just wait long enough, she’ll give them the keys to the front door.
Neither does anyone else who can tie his own shoes, Zippy.
Thanks. Knowing that makes me like Netanyahu a LOT more than I previously did.
Tzip yer lip, toots! Bibi rox.

JERUSALEM - JULY 5: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaks during the weekly cabinet meeting July 5, 2009 in Jerusalem, Israel. According to reports Netanyahu today raised the topic of "two states for two people concept", the first time he has addressed this in public.
You lost Livni! Get over it!
Palis/Hamas do not believe in a two-state solution, either.
Neither does anyone else. Neither the palis nor the rest of the muslim dominated ME will EVER accept the presence of an Israeli state.
That's why there will always be strife against Israel in the region unless/until somebody smacks the muslim states in a way that they understand - strong, definitive, no-kidding smackdown that leaves their heads spinning and their ears ringing, half their populations dead and most of their cities leveled and glowing at night!
She’s 100% right...and God bless him for it.
Neither do I.
Precisely. All this talk and diplomatic activity is going nowhere. So long as Hamas rules Gaza and so long as the Pali's demand a return to 1968 borders (which places the Wailing Wall in Arab Jerusalem) and a "right of return" (suicide for the Jewish State) there is no basis for a deal, none, nada, zip. I can't believe so many allegedly well informed, intelligent people in the West are so delusional.
Good - neither do I.
That being said, a 2-state solution is the only viable long-term solution.
“In remarks to lawmakers at the Knesset, the former foreign minister accused the premier of paying lip service to the concept of a Palestinian state.”
I didn’t think he should even have gone THAT far.
Livni previously spent half her time with her nose stuck up Condi’s skirt. Now she is so brain damaged from lack of oxygen, she doesn’t know where to stick her nose.
I have some suggestions, but I’d be banned for posting them.
“Neither does anyone else who can tie his own shoes, Zippy. “
LMBO!
Is she hawg-stupid, or does she want Israel wiped off the map?
Well, neither do the Arabs.
I’ll take hawg-stupid for $200.00, tax-chick ;-)
Fine. Kick them out.
It’s a sad commentary on American politics when I have more faith in Bibi, than I do in HolyO!!!
Prayers for Bibi and Israel going up, always!
Livni is a sore loser POS. Her tenure led nowhere except to Abbas’ higher expectations of Israeli concessions. Her Kadima party conducted the worst war Israel has ever fought and unchecked reign of rocket.
Only at the eve of election did Kadima decide they needed to act on the rockets.
Livni is now losing by a much greater margin than before the election.
.............
The survey by Dialog, conducted Thursday under the auspices of Prof. Camil Fuchs of Tel Aviv University, found Netanyahu’s approval ratings were 18 percent higher than Tzipi Livni’s - a much larger margin than when they were competing for prime minister. Asked who was better suited to be prime minister, 52 percent said Netanyahu, while only 34 said Livni.

Why doesn’t Livni just shut the f up! Before she blows the deal. She’s a vegetarian space case
Opposition leader Tzipi Livni on Monday questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's commitment to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.IMHO, this is not good cop/bad cop, it's tag team wrestling, and the Palis are getting their asses handed to them. Shh, don't tell anybody. :')
He doesn’t? Oooh, yeah!
Bibi
Netanyahu Netanyahu
Bibi Bibi
Netanyahu Netanyahu
Netanyahu al hahar
Netanyahu bamidbar
Hu tzodek. Hu gadol.
Hu metzuyan mehakol!
Tzipi just made me a fan of Bibi (rough translation). Keep on opposing. You go, girl.
Cute cheer. Here’s hoping. And praying.
You really think Zip is tag teaming with Bibi? Only if she’s not aware of it.
Yeah. There’s an opposition in Israel, which means Arabs (who are voting citizens after all) can and probably do support Jewish politicians who publicly support national suicide. For that matter, some Arabs probably vote for Likud as well. The Arab-only parties are undercut and marginalized by the leftist mainstream parties.
The Palestinians have demonstrated time and again that they want the Jews out of the Middle East.
Islam advocates the “liberation” of ALL former Islamic territory from non-Muslim hands. And THAT includes the Balkans, Italy and Sicily, the Iberian Peninsula and Southern France.
Bibi doesn’t believe in a “two state solution?”
GOOD... A “two state solution” would merely be a precursor to another “Final Solution.”
No, sh!t, Livni....
Of Course Bibi believes in the two state solution..Israel and Jordan!
