Sen. Mel Martinez (Rino-FL) Email Supporting Cap & Tax Vanity
Office of Senator Mel Martinez | 6 July 2009 | Senator Mel Martinez

Posted on 07/06/2009 1:14:14 PM PDT by Jacquerie

Dear Mrs. Bbbbbb,

Thank you for contacting me regarding the American Clean Energy and Security Act. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to take this opportunity to respond to your concerns.

On May 15, 2009, Representative Henry Waxman (D-CA) introduced the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (H.R. 2454). This bill would create an absolute cap on total emissions from all covered entities including the electric power, transportation, oil and gas industry, and other commercial sectors with the goal of reducing greenhouse gases. This cap would be lowered over time through 2050, and a government-created market would be established to sell and trade emission allowances. On June 26, 2009, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 2454 by a vote of 219-212. H.R. 2454 now awaits further consideration in the Senate.

I believe that the threat of climate change is real, and I am working with my colleagues in the Senate to regulate and reduce greenhouse emissions. As we consider climate change legislation, we need to ensure that the laws we pass will in fact reduce carbon emissions and lessen the threat of catastrophic climate change. Additionally, we need to consider and attempt to mitigate any negative effects the new laws would have on our economy, energy prices, and Americans living on fixed incomes.

The United States cannot solve this problem alone, and similar efforts in China and India are critical to combating this threat. However, our country can provide needed leadership and technological innovation for the international community, and, as one of the world's largest energy consumers, it is time for the United States to accept this responsibility. The choices we make now in dealing with climate change may be some of the most significant environmental and economic decisions of our generation. I assure you that I am committed to passing legislation to counter the threat posed by global climate change, and I will be sure to keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 2454, or any related legislation, receive the attention of the full Senate.

Again, thank you for contacting me. If you have any additional questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. In addition, for more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at http://martinez.senate.gov.

Sincerely,

Mel Martinez United States Senator

Right after the day of infamy when the House voted to tax carbon, kill jobs and dictate local zoning regulations, I emailed Martinez to express my horror at the thought of the House monstrosity actually becoming law.

My Congress-clown and both Senators will vote for this unconstitutional trash. I am so ashamed for my state.

I got the same BS response too - and Nelson's was just as stoopid - they both "believe that climate change is real"

Yeah, and kids believe the Easter Bunny is real too...what a couple of dipsh--s!

Can't wait for Martinez to leave and hope the next one out the door is NELSON!

“Martinez is a worthless POS, and if Crist wins the Repub nomination, I will be supporting Kendrick Meek.”

Either way you get another Martinez.

Who the hell is paying off these Senators. What exactly is in it for them to completely destroy Florida's economy? Last time I was at Disney they were going ‘green’. I had to ask for clean sheets and towels.

F THAT!

If he doesn’t, Floridians deserve the Democrat.

There’s no use in electing Republicans like Charlie Crist who support the Obama agenda.

I got a lame letter from Mel about 0s Birth Certificate. He said 0 was vetted in the democratic primary and the final vote.
I unfortunately shook his hand in Ormond Beach when McCain was there.
Mel is a RINO, I told him to do his job to uphold the Constitution and he swore to.

Global warming....sheesh.

At 12 noon on the Fourth of July, in Bangor, Maine, it was 60 degrees. Should have been closer to 90.

The year without a summer......

I’m glad Martinez will soon be out of office.

Quotable quote re: Crist's always on duty.

..."Even Crist's marriage in December wasn't an obstacle to keeping in touch. Erin Issac, his communications director, said, "I talked to the governor 100 times while he was on his honeymoon."

All my letters from RNC for money is returned with my comments that until they develop some gonads to investigate the PINO illegal alien and usurper's threat to our Constitution which they all have sworn to defend and uphold, NO money from my family!!!

The most effective way to get their attention is to hit them in their pocket book???

I emailed him last week cause I read he voted in favor of Harold Koh, someone who may subject America and Americans to international laws. Told Martinez since he seems to believe we should use laws of other countries, why do we need ‘our’ Congress...thus, he should immediately resign!

this open borders asshat is representable of how a once mighty southern state has been ruined

North Carolina and Virginia soon to follow

if one could take most of north florida and a line down the center spine of the state maybe jumping over to the coast here and there like Crystal River and much of the west coast and Cocoa and Melbourne on the east and just whack off the rest of the east coast below that for the most part and heave Mickeyland and you’d have a great state again

I like Lake County just fine. Lots and lots of water, here, and we live on a good-sized lake that could take us to the Atlantic if we were desperate.

You live a distance from here; but you know people who live here?

I done that a couple times, also!

It is like hitting a rubber pillow with your fists, you get the same "standard" answer with no substance!!

They never answers your concerns to the core, and I doubt that he ever read our letters!!!

These template answers, I guess is done by his staff in an "effort" to protect the WEASEL???

I use to work for Lefebure a bank company. I had my own area and was number one tech in the state and would have to go around and fix stuff in others area when they couldn’t get it done.
I did the old Lake County Credit Union on S.R. 50 and a few others up there.
Had fun getting up on lakes to do a little fishing. Also had to drive from here to Weeekie Watchie to help my grand folks when they were alive.
Seen the area grow like weeds since Disney invaded.
Always enjoyed it there but lots more before the area grew up.
