Why Obama May Lose in 2012
American Spectator ^ | July 07, 2009 | Hunter Baker

Posted on 07/06/2009 2:59:23 PM PDT by RobinMasters

A very wise friend suggested to me that Obama's second term is an inevitability. I have to take issue with him because it seems all too clear to me that the president has abandoned the ironclad strategy for victory. What he should have done was to dedicate himself to fixing the banking/financial system, to restore its foundations, to bring about better rules, and to restore public confidence in the lifeblood of the system. Had he done that, eight years would have been a foregone conclusion.

Instead, he has made the financial system an interesting sideline to go along with his attempts to bring about the eschaton through salvific, wishing-makes-it-so public policy. His current path stands a decent chance of returning the nation to stagflation. And no politician can wear that millstone and make it look good.

So if criticizing Obama’s policies and predicting his defeat now makes one a liberal, I am forced to conclude that there really is just no winning with some FReepers anymore.

The gentleman is deluded.

The path to victory is through the 50% of the population who pay little or no taxes and their enablers in academe and among other groups. Make ‘em dependent on you and promise ‘em more every election.

You don’t actually have to deliver - the MSM will cover that up for you.

With a little help from the 2010 census and ACORN or COI or whatever they are now, the next election should be slam dunk (and the one after that...).

I think he’ll lose because the country will be broke and a fifth of the people unemployed.

Barring a shooting war with N. Korea or Iran, it’ll come down to the economy. If we’re in recovery, he’ll get the credit and most likely be re-elected. If we’re still in a recession, he can kiss his job goodbye.

Getting rid of a sitting President in good economic times is very tough.

I’m serious. He wants to hurt the US as badly as he can and as quick as he can. Once the USA is out of the way, NWO is in!

Unfortunately, that same 20% will vote for him anyway (ACORN will pad this number with dead people & pets), because all they know is CNN, Oprah, and People Magazine.

Never heard of Hunter Baker. I'm pretty sure I would not know his smart friend.

This seems to me more garbage from the chattering classes.

Now that over 50% of the sheep are sucking from the government teat, I’m not sure there will be another GOP President in my lifetime. 2012 is a done deal already.

Our only hope is that the over-reaches of the leftists will self-destruct, maybe in time for 2016. If there’s anything left to save by then...

That certainly proved to be FDR's Achilles Heel.

Exactly my thought. He was hired because he claimed he would do a better job than the Republicans, not turn a recession into the second Great Depression.

Reasons -- 1.) unemployment and 2.) inflation.

I don't see any evidence of economic "green shoots" anywhere, except for the weeds in my garden. $789 *billion* in economic stimulus spending that didn't stimulate much of anything, but was a laundry list of unfunded Democrat wishes since 1994.

That certainly proved to be FDR's Achilles Heel.

FDR didn't have the advantage of a different skin color, no opposition party, and the faithful puppy-love of an adoring Media.

Good economic times seem far-fetched with a Democrat congress and a socialist Kenyan running things, but I suppose the Republicans could retake the Congress, get things back on track, and watch as the Kenyan takes the credit.

It’s not stupid people in America; it’s voter fraud. Can’t wait for a few including Congress critters to sign on to the Bernie Madoff plan of spending 150 years in jail.
