May 12, 2009 -- A U.S. Air Force B-2 Spirit stealth bomber flies over the western Pacific Ocean during a refueling mission. The B-2 Spirit is assigned to the 13th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, deployed to Andersen AFB in "Tip of the Spear" Guam, USA, as part of the Continuous Bomber Presence in the Western Pacific. Actually, it's because the guy who took the photo and his pilot were flying with the express intent of taking photographs and they knew what they were doing.

After a few more years of Hussein, such images will be of the past as funds will not exist to purchase fuel or equipment and the planes will sit idle with bird nets in their tail pipes.

While stationed at Kadena AB, I air refueled these things several times over Guam. I was amazed how big they were...when I stepped back to the boom pod and all I could see was black in the boom’s sighting window.

Global reach a wonderful thing. Load up in the USA, drop the payload on the oseas target, return to USA. Way cool!! Desert Storm: B-52s from Minot AFB, North Dakota loaded up, flew to the Mid-East, dropped their ordnance, then returned to Minot. All non-stop.
