North Korea convened a mass government meeting on the 15th anniversary of the death of Kim Il Sung (today). They had the usual funeral music in commemoration of "The Great Leader". One could perhaps say the music was for KIM JONG IL himself, who shuffled pitifully into the Korean Workers Party assembly--a disheveled wreck of a man. Here are photos of Kim Jong Il, taken earlier today in North Korea:

The pics (today) are accompanied with a video. The video clearly shows him at today’s 15-year Kim Il Sung Demise commemorative by the Workers Party, including the dirge music and moment of silence (Kim bowing head with the rest), etc. It is not likely to have been videographically morphed, and it is not a double stand-in for Kim, so the pics I have posted and video link are indeed the most recent sightings of the Chia Pet.

Notice that right part of his lips are crooked lower in today's published photo. When compared with Apr. photo, it appears that his condition did deteriorate.

I see Kim Yong Nam right behind him, some old fart of the Great War of Unification leading them in, and then (I believe) Generals Lee and Ok trailing behind some dark skinned dude. But I don't see "Fish Lips" (Jang Soon Taek). Nor is there any word or picture of the "General of Mt. Paektu", little prince Kim Jong Un there at the event for dead ol Grandpa.

This is very weird. Showing this sick man, nearing death, to the nation on TV like this today, and then yet no official word yet on Kim Jong Un, or him even in the line up on the dais. The average North Korean is not stupid. They see the life running out of the Chia Pet at amazing speed, and yet, no published succession plan. Odd, that one.

Also fascinating footage today out of Pyongyang of the live Chia Pet (Kim Jong il) HERE from South Korean TV tonight, relaying North Korean TV coverage of the event. A lot of footage of Kim Jong il, his frail condition, other oddities, etc. Patience, it takes a little time to load. And, as with all these links from Asia, they may only be up for a day or two.

Despite their hurried prep, Kim Jong-un is not ready for public appearance yet, I suspect. As for Jang, I don't really know what the deal is. Maybe he has some matters to attend to.

I think that Kim Jong-il figure that showing himself 'still alive' is more important than risking the public display of his advanced stage of illness. If so, the clock is indeed running out in Pyongyang.
