Gold Rush In Alaska
Washington Post ^ | 7/8/09 | Kathleen Parker

Posted on 07/08/2009 4:56:14 AM PDT by steve-b

When you're up to your waders in barracuda, blame the media.

And quit your job.

And say you did it for the people.

And hire an agent.

And try to keep a straight face.

On your way to the bank.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public, H.L. Mencken once said. Terribly elitist fellow, that Mencken. If only he were alive to witness the phenomenon of Sarah Palin, whose biography validates every cynical thought that ever found expression in his prolific prose.....

Meanwhile, getting real, can we stop pretending that Palin is interested in anything other than her own ambition?

Can we also stop nodding assent every time she says the media are to blame for her self-inflicted wounds? The media invented Sarah Palin. Before the media shined their light on those no-place-like-home slippers, does anyone recall ever wondering what a governor of Alaska was up to?...

"Let's face it, she just doesn't really want to govern, and she's doing what's best for her," said a Republican campaign strategist who has worked with Palin.

"This is a win-win," said another. "It's a win for her because she is not politically viable, and now hopefully she can make a lot of money, have balance and affect culture in a positive way. It's a win for the Republican Party because she was the female version of [George W.] Bush in some ways. She is not intellectually curious. We need and have smart, competent alternatives."...

Yet another piece that harkens back to Mencken. And this time by a "Postie".

Everybody knows by now that Mencken used to write all sorts of anti-semitic things in a series ~ A SERIES ~ of secret diaries.

Only a "Postie" would overlook that ~ place is just awash in anti-semitism, anti-Cristianity, anti-freedom ~ anti ~ you name it.

Going down hill fast.

No, only Romney himself can be a hero for them. Their purple Knight out to save the day.

I find it ironic that the author and the Washington Post is continuing to “shine that spotlight” therefore helping and contributing to the Palin phenomenon and success that they and the rest of the MSM insist they despise. LOL.

The media invented Sarah Palin.

No, the media invented a Tina Fey caricature to project their fears and paranoia onto.

I certainly have expressed my concerns about Palin resigning, but Kathleen Parker can take her snarky, transparent attempts to destroy Palin over to the HuffPo or similar liberal rag. Parker hasn’t liked Palin from the beginning.

A barf alert on KP would be redundant.

Sarah has both the lefties and the RINOs soiling their laundry.

“The media invented Sarah Palin. Before the media shined their light on those no-place-like-home slippers, does anyone recall ever wondering what a governor of Alaska was up to?...”

Actually, Palin’s popularity sky rocketed because she was liked. What the media invented was the scandals. Compare what they complain about in Palin to what they ignore in the ‘Bama; that comparison explains everything.

“Alaskans lately have turned against the once-popular governor and filed complaints that have run up legal fees in the $500,000 range.”

Disingenuous statement, Ms. Parker. It wasn’t ordinary Alaskans who filed the complaints. Mostly it was Democrap and Obama professional and semi-professional operatives.

Do you really think a real Alaskan would care if Sarah wore a jacket with a logo? Do you really think a real Alaskan would care if she had a meal with a few reporters?

No Alaskans are real men and women, something Parker has never seen in her uppity social circles.

Obviously, Kathleen Parker is a twit. I laugh at her stupidity.

It’s just funny that the MSM CANNOT SHUT UP regarding Palin. The media have become like snarky, gossipy ugly girls attacking the Prom Queen. What are they going to do when’s Palin’s dead someday (hopefully 40+ years from now) -piss on her grave?

Perhaps folks are not looking at the complete array of factors in the Sarah equation.

Perhaps there is an Uncle Rupert and Fox News factor.

What if she gets an hour or two a week, say Sunday morning. What if she has a Dead Pundit minute where she drags out her super sling and destroys some Goliath like Mo Dowd every week? What she has a How to Love America 5 minute segment where she finds an exceptional family and asks America to emulate? What if she has a Stinking Congressman segment where she airs his dirty pork laden tax wasting handiwork.

Uncle Rupert will have advertisers standing in line to buy his ads. She will make a bundle. she will have exceptional face time and deliver a message for free.

She might have the most watched weekly news show. Eat your heart out 60 minutes

Think about it.
