Democrats, who dominated the 2006 and 2008 elections, are losing their edge in Ohio, a new poll shows.
President Barack Obama's approval rating in the Buckeye State - one of the key bellwethers for national politics - dropped to 49 percent, the lowest of any swing state, according to a poll released Tuesday by Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.
Obama, who lost Ohio's Democratic primary to Hillary Rodham Clinton but topped Republican John McCain in November's general election, earned a 62 percent approval rating in the university's May survey.

Rasmussen has Obama's Approval Index rating at -5 today, lowest ever. Gallop has Obama down, Dems seen as 'too liberal.' My guess is that other individual state polls, such as Indiana and Pennsylvania, will slip down as well in a domino effect.
One thing is clear: Americans now see this as Obama's economy. Porkulus is seen as a failure. And once the unemployment figures rise to double digits, he will start losing nationally in his personal approvals.
Why is it so high?

Congressional term limits are our only hope. Congresscritters will be more likely to vote their constituents wishes than depending on Pelosi's goodwill to secure plum committee assignments or campaign funds.

The most positive thing I’m noticing is that the refrain: “Bush’s Fault” is starting to fade out. I figure by the end of the year, blaming Bush for inherited problems isn’t going to fly even with the sheeple.
I am not that up on Ohio politics.

Polling data indicates MASSIVE support for Congressional term limits. It would be a brilliant centerpiece for a Contract With America 2010, leading a sweeping Republican Congressional victory.
But the Stupid Party is, well, stupid.

Well, in fairness to Ohio when your former GOP governor is single digit approved Taft and we reflect on DeWine betraying conservatives over judges, Voinovich crying on the Senate floor and an in state scandel among their elected GOP representatives they were ripe for “change”. That isn’t even getting into GWB’s policies the last few years.
I never saw their shift as ideological but motivated by the GOP party itself being corrupt and stupid. Fix those two things and with Dems working so hard to alienate average Americans and it can easily shift back.
Obama couldn’t bus people in to take the poll.

I disagree, people will vote with their wallets in 2010, and if things get as bad as many say they will then the dems are in deep doo doo. Remember, Peter Fitzgerald (R Illinois) was elected to the US Senate in 1998, he beat Carol Moseley-Braun, and Fitzgerald is/was very conservative.
