Church must repent for climate change sins

The call was made in the report ‘Hope in God’s Future’, received by the annual Methodist Conference on Wednesday.

The report encourages people to repent in particular for their complicity in systems that exploit creation and prey on the powerless, but also offers advice on how Christians can make positive lifestyle changes.

Rev David Gamble, the President of the Conference, said the report sent out a challenge to the Church to tackle the issue head on and commit to “significant action” over the next few years.

“The first step in making a difference is the recognition of what we’ve done wrong so far. But we can’t just stop there. We must not be beholden to economic growth at the expense of our world and the lives of those who are most vulnerable,” he said.

Later the Bangladesh Rev Baaba’louie sumthin and Rev Gamble agreed to altars of Baal installed in all churches because the Methodists should really give up any pretense of nominal Christianity if they are going to peddle this crap and further.

I left the so-called Methodist Church 9 years ago when I finally figured out that it wasn't a church at all. It's an ultra left-wing political party. What's really sad is that most of its money-giving members don't know that.

Of course, one can't feel too sad for its members because most of them think it's a country club without the golf course.

"and John Wesley weeps....."

As do all of the other men whose spirit-filled encounter with God has been turned into another 'doctrine of men'.

When pressed, several preachers have confessed to me that doctrinally they 'hew the party line' because they 'signed the paper' for (insert denomination here).

Then ask them, "If God called you to preach, why do you let men tell you what to say?"

1 John 2:27 - "As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him."

Ya know, I just don't remember Jesus healing someone and saying “go forth and drive thy SUV no more”. Did I miss that? Disappointing to see that Third Day banner on a fake Christian page. Green Christians should remember the flood or possibly Sodom and Gomorrah. It's a dirt canvas, the Lord erases it when appropriate.

Preaching-everything-but-the-Gospel.

The Church has but one primary mission on Earth: Making disciples of Christ, preaching the Gospel to of the unsaved.

The mission of the Church of Christ - Matthew 28:19

So Christ hung on the cross so that we could be saved from the sin of exhaling carbon dioxide gas. But the Creator made me do that, so why is that a sin again? Do any of the Methodist’s read the Bible or just AlGore’s Earth in the Balance.

I could not agree more.

America is ripe for an actual Holy-Spirit led revival.

Mind you, I am not talking about what most, if not all, of the revivals in current-day America are (basically almost completely ineffectual), but an actual revival where God himself changes the hearts of men who repent and believe. You know, the kind John and Charles Wesley, Whitefield, and others led in their times.

The Conference heard from Bishop Michael Baroi of the Church of Bangladesh, who urged the British Church to make climate change a priority.

He said: "By 2050, two thirds of my country will go under water and about 30 million people will be displaced and have no place of their own to live on this planet Earth, if we do not deal with this issue of global warming and climate change urgently and seriously.”

I guess we no longer believe in creationism or any of that stuff. This idiocy about the oceans rising is just crazy. I know because I personally tested this theory. I filled a glass with ice water. (the ice was even sticking up over the rim of the glass). I let the ice melt and the glass did not overflow.

The Bible is thrown out or is just incidental “supplemental” material in many seminaries. There is much emphasis on placing doubt on the prophecies.

Witness the “Jesus Seminar”. Satan is no doubt laughing with delight every time these antichrist snake oil salesmen get together and issue a decree.

It’s quite revealing (depressing, really) when you speak to a young graduate of certain seminaries and their Bible knowledge is on a par with children’s Sunday School at best.

I daresay, some child know *and* believe the Scriptures better than many of them.

They’re all being fed the social gospel and good works, like giving food, building houses. All fine and dandy, but if you never gave the person the Gospel you neglected the one and only task that can be taken into eternity with success.

John 6:27 KJV

Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of Man shall give unto you: for Him hath God the Father sealed.

At a gas station a number of years ago, I met a group of Christians who were asking for donations for their mission trip. I asked them their purpose. It was to spread food and help; show the love of God.

“And ...?” I said ...

They basically reiterated the above with confused looks.

I then asked them if they were going to tell people about the Salvation in Christ. THAT is the love of God and the most important thing they would ever do (John 14:6).

They need to be reminded the Good News isn’t that we share food or assistance. The Good News is that Jesus paid the penalty for our sins as the Sacrificial Lamb of God.

The Deceiver does not want that Message to go out. So he can take as many down with him as possible. A belly full of food means nothing if a person has rejected Christ as Savior.

"America is ripe for an actual Holy-Spirit led revival."

If we're watching for revival to start somewhere else, it will never happen. As men like Wesley prove over and over, revival starts w/ me.

Pass it on...

The very reason I left the Methodist Church.
I still remember a Methodist youth group going to a church conference and the attendees returning singing praises about Mugabe and absolutely denigrating his principal opponent, Methodist (I believe) Bishop Abel Muzorewa.

Typical of the drive-by liberal establishment-support a thug like Mugabe and then move on to make another part of the world miserable.

We must not be beholden to economic growth at the expense of our world

Our prosperity makes the whole world richer. When we go down, the rest of the world is going down harder.

These people have hard hearts with no ears to hear the most basic of doctrines (thou shall not murder; if you don't work you don't eat, etc) and have made the "church" into just another leftist group that happens to meet Sunday mornings.

I grew up in a very large, very wealthy Methodist church. It was completely, utterly dead. Praise God He saved me despite them.

I don’t know anything about the UMC, but we have been members of a Free Methodist Church for about 8 years. I don’t hear this kind of leftist message in our church. Perhaps something to consider if you’re a memeber of the UMC.
