My guess is that her resignation affects her career in the same way that Perot dropping out of the '92 race, and then re-entering it, affected his. Which is to say, badly. But it's certainly not an exact analogy. 2012 is a long way away.

And I'd like to be wrong, 'cause I'd vote for Sarah for the White House any day of the week.

I think it may be the opposite. She has three straight years of campaigning and causing trouble for the leftists. The big picture is, if she can campaign for folks to take back the house and the senate in 2010, she will be unbeatable by any current Dem in 2012.
Back her play and stop worrying about electable or not. Look at her fan page on facebook.
