Sarah Palin Mentions Abortion Refusal, Birth of Down Syndrome Son in Acceptance Speech

In a speech that has electrified the pro-life movement, Alaska governor and John McCain’s vice-presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, touched on her own family’s personal pro-life decision. While 80 to 90 percent of pregnancies involving Down syndrome babies end in abortion, the Palin family chose life.

“And in April, my husband Todd and I welcomed our littlest one into the world, a perfectly beautiful baby boy named Trig. From the inside, no family ever seems typical,” Palin said.

“That's how it is with us,” the governor went on to say. “Our family has the same ups and downs as any other ... the same challenges and the same joys. Sometimes even the greatest joys bring challenge.”

“And children with special needs inspire a special love. To the families of special-needs children all across this country, I have a message: For years, you sought to make America a more welcoming place for your sons and daughters,” she added.

Sarah Palin is the antithesis and absolute refutation to all the liberal, socialist/marxist, culture of death, big government, mantras. And she represents a wrecking ball to them.

Sarah will now get her book out, go on tour, give speeches and promote conservatie principles all over this country in the midst of the Obama administration disaster and gain great political capital in the process. Then she will support conservative candidates in 2010 and help them win, amassing much more political capital. She will then take all of that and make an awesome, stunning run for the Presidency in 2012.

When I was pregnant with my youngest my doctor recommended and amnio since I would be 38 when the baby was born.

Hubby and I asked many questions about the amnio and decided that - since we would never abort - we wouldn't do the test. The doctor was pretty OK with it - the geneticist. . .not so much.

We explained that nothing would change our minds about having this baby. He was a gift from God and one doesn't return God's gifts. Also, having worked with Downs adults/children, one comes to realize that there is a H*U*G*E gap between mild and severe Downs. No test could tell the severity even if it came up positive.

God doesn't make mistakes.

WOW that was exactly our experience! My wife was 37 and I was 50 when she was preg for first time. We decided against amnio since we would not abort in any case so it was a useless test for us. The child is just starting college at a highly rated university and wants to major in politics/government/law.

Today of course there is some justification for amnio and the like, since some ailments can be rectified by surgery.
