On her most recent program, leftist MSNBC host Rachel Maddow summed up all conservative and Republican opposition to Sonia Sotomayors nomination for Supreme Court Justice as nothing more than a campaign that is substantially about race. Thus far, Maddow sneered, Republicans have attacked [Sotomayor's] Wise Latina comment, they have called her an affirmative action nominee, [and] they have singled out her ruling in an affirmative-action discrimination case. And for good measure, added Maddow, [t]hey have chosen to inveigh against [Sotomayor's] work for the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund.

The gubmint hasn’t come up with a race designation for 10% black yet (or whatever percentage of mixed blood I am). I may not be pure-as-driven-snow-white, but I am Caucasian.

Is Latino ia RACE?? OMG!....
I guess that a good thing right? Now the gubment can start reporting the crimes of her "race" alone instead of adding it to "white" crime statistics so that other races don't look so bad.

Depends on one's perpective. We had the "one drop rule" in this country for some time, with regards to African blood. In PR, I know that it is different, which is why 89% of the population is identified as white, when the real figure is probably around 35-40%. Just looking at your average crowd in San Juan will tell you that PR is a non-white nation/commonwealth.

Maddow has nearly 50% drop in viewership. She’s cutting into Katie Couric territory

La Razas motto. For the race - Everything. For those not of the race - Nothing
Tell that to Honduran immigrant, Miguel Estrada.
Sotomayor's political group did everything they could to scuttle Estrada's nomination to the bench.

Hmmmmm ...Sasquatch... you just may be right!!! ...shudder!!!

As well as saying that Estrada was “particularly dangerous” because he was Latino.
Can you just IMAGINE the hue and cry if some Republican e-mails said that Sotomayor was “particularly dangerous because she is Latina”?

Yup. During the election campaign, it wasn’t about race, unless a Republican criticized Obama, then it was about race. Same thing here, only there isn’t any “race.” It’s not “ethnicity” either. It’s not “religion” either. It’s just that she belongs to a victim group artificially created by the government.

Republicans have attacked [Sotomayor's] Wise Latina comment, they have called her an affirmative action nominee, ...Take a breath, Rach. Sotomayor identified herself as an affirmative action hire. Her racist attitudes are pretty clear too.

Only whites are capable of racism.
When people of color make judgments based on skin color or ethnicity it isn't racism.
That's the rules under Progressive Enlightenment.
