She Broke the G.O.P. and Now She Owns It
NYT ^ | 7/11/09 | FRANK RICH

Posted on 07/13/2009 2:03:22 PM PDT by Clint N. Suhks

SARAH PALIN and Al Sharpton don’t ordinarily have much in common, but they achieved a rare harmonic convergence at Michael Jackson’s memorial service. When Sharpton told the singer’s children it was their daddy’s adversaries, not their daddy, who were “strange,” he was channeling the pugnacious argument the Alaska governor had made the week before. There was nothing strange about her decision to quit in midterm, Palin told America. What’s strange — or “insane,” in her lingo — are the critics who dare question her erratic behavior on the national stage.

~snip~

Its voice can be found in the postings at a Web site maintained by the fans of Mark Levin, the Obama hater who is, at this writing, the No.2 best-selling hardcover nonfiction writer in America.

Frankly,
she never owned the GOP. She never controlled the GOP.

It was broken by the RINO’s and the Democrat humpleg media.

Whether it is Obama bots or Rudy bots or Mitt bots, the approach is the same - dismiss valid criticism as the work of 'haters' - as you in turn spew pure valid garbage at someone like Palin.

The left is sooooo worried about her and what she stands for, given what a bad dream Obama has “turned out to be” -— as if we did not know what he wanted to do to America and its people.

Most important, she stands for a genuine movement: a dwindling white nonurban America that is aflame with grievances and awash in self-pity as the country hurtles into the 21st century

I think Mr. Rich lives in a bubble inside of a bubble that inside another bubble with his head stuck up his arse.

Frank Rich is as predictable as the sunrise with his leftist slant on anything or anyone remotely conservative. He tries to comfort the left with a theory, totally bogus and with no discernible basis in fact, that Sarah Palin's popularity with Republicans and a healthy chunk of the U.S. electorate is based on citizens in rural parts of the county being afraid and angry at the social progress of Blacks and Hispanics. How absurd and yet, how banal and unquestioning of the leftist shibboleth that political conservatives 'fear' racial minorities.

It's pure rubbish, as usual, but demonstrates the very real fear leftist apologists like Frank Rich hold for average, middle class Americans who are catching on to the Marxist nanny-state Obama plans for the nation he purports to 'lead'. That is, when he isn't criticizing his nation in some foreign country. Rich, like other leftist scribblers, pretends to 'explain' Sarah Palin's popularity in a context that characterizes it as somehow racist and, well, just wrong. 'Angry' conservatives and all that nonsense.

In fact, many Americans, including some former Obama worshipers, are becoming angry - for good reason - as they see their hopes for the future being systematically destroyed by the Obama administration as it dismantles our financial system, takes over much of the U.S. auto industry and seeks to impose severe restrictions on how we live (and what we buy) with 'Cap and Trade' and the dangerous health care 'reform' that would make us all wards of the state when we needed medical attention. We would all be vulnerable to being refused medical care because we were too old, too fat or whatever criteria the federal bureaucrats decided to impose on Americans. For 'the greater good', of course. Spare me, Barack.

No, Frank Rich really has no idea why Sarah Palin is popular - and it must frustrate him to no end. I can sympathize, to a point. I never saw the appeal Bill Clinton seemed to have for a majority of Americans. The big nose, the fake hick accent and the biggest tax increase in U.S. history, made retroactive, no less. Even when Clinton was shown to be a serial groper of any women who he was near and a proven adulterer, his approval numbers stayed relatively high. It was frustrating then, for conservatives. Sarah Palin's sustained popularity, even as she is relentlessly attacked by the left, via newspapers, magazines, the internet, TV and probably carrier pigeon, worries leftists like Frank Rich. He makes that clear in his column.

I'm old enough to remember the leftist media constantly attacking Ronald Reagan, as a candidate and, especially, as president. He was inevitably characterized as old, senile and stupid. It never stopped. Yet Reagan was easily re-elected in '84 and remained very popular with the American people. This drove the left batty. I loved it. Its nice to see Sarah Palin having the same effect, today.
