Major Japanese Monthly (Sentaku) Hits Bush/Obama Appeasing & Incompetence on N. Korea (Translation)
Sentaku Magazine 「選択」 ^
| 1 July 2009
| Sentaku Magazine (from Japanese; translation synop by AiT)
Posted on 07/13/2009 6:15:49 PM PDT by AmericanInTokyo

Original Japanese synopsis of article:
Japanese lead:
My translation begins (summary).
(Three most significant subtitles of the artitle):
--Beijing Gets Behind Idea of Staunchly Keeping N.K. Kim Dynasty in Place
--Obama Administration Shows Unprecedented Recklessness (toward North Korea)
--North Korea Can See Through Every Tactical Step of The Americans
Key Points from Original Japanese:
--North Korea's dangerous intentions in launching medium and long range missiles, conducting underground nuke tests, other recent provocations and the like were set in action (precipitated) by Second Bush "W" Administration, namely Condoleeza Rice, Phillip Zellikof (spelling?), and Christopher Hill, who were made mince meat of by the North Koreans
--Hill tried his best to get all sectors of Japan to go along with the idea of removing North Korean from terrorist list and getting their money back to them which had been frozen in Macao
--Tactically idiotic unfreezing of Banco Del Asia North Korean money in Macao was heralded as a "humanitarian gesture" of all things!
--New Obama Administration met witht the double whammy of DPRK ICBM test in April, then underground nuke test in May, was to of all things PROMOTE Chris Hill to position of Ambasssador to Iraq
--On top of that, Appeaser to North Korea American specialist Stephen Bosworth was posted by Obama to oversea North Korean policy
--Hillary Clinton made the caving public comments that "the door is open" to North Korea, even in light of them seizing two American journalists on the Chinese border
--Bosworth made the amazing comments, even right after a Taepodong-2 ICBM launch by DPRK towards the US, that "Well, I am relaxed about it" and added to this "we keep the door open to talking with the North Koreans"
--These actions of the new Obama Administration are nothing short of reckless.
End my translation
TOPICS: Extended News; Foreign Affairs; Japan; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: appeasement; dprk; hill; japan; nkorea; northkorea; obama; pyongyang; sentaku
Good analysis from a fairly respected, subscription based Japanese monthly written by senior writers from various Japanese daily and weekly publications. Neither particularly Left nor Right in stance.
They add their voice to the growing chorus in Japanese journalism becoming very critical of and frank about Mr. Obama's leadership skills and negotiating tactics.

Even the
Washington Post had THIS to say about "Sentaku Magazine" in late 2008:
"The most astounding article appeared in Sentaku, a monthly magazine with a reputation for objectivity and solid analysis. Writing in anticipation of an Obama victory, the magazine raised most of the same charges the Republicans had leveled against the Democratic candidate, including Obama's associations with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former Weather Underground leader William Ayers and "communist and socialist professors." It called him "the most dubious character in history to occupy the White House." Criticizing Obama's foreign policy statements as "abstract" and "strings of empty words such as 'consultation' and 'cooperation,' " the article concluded that under Obama, the United States would lose its position of global leadership and drag the world into "enormous chaos."

Ironically, out of 185 nations global-wide, Americans might be in large measure the last to wake up and appreciate this point. I hope not. It certainly is becoming common knowledge here in Japan, in rapid order.

Well, another monthly Japanese-language reputable magazine recently took note of the fact that Obama's policy seems to be one of "Warming Up To Enemies, Strictness With Friends".
We shall soon see how old THAT gets.
What an abject fool (unless it is all designed in some dastardly way to be this way).

Just trying to counter the Iron Curtain of information solidly down around the United States! My small part! ;-) One thing is for sure, the beholden, Pravda/Izvestiya-like American MSM of 2009 is not going to report this or discuss this. SO, we just GO AROUND THEM.

Correct name of bank in Macao, China where North Korean money (money laundering, counterfeit, kidnap ransom, amphetamine sales, prostitution proceeds, pachinko profits, weapons sales, etc, etc. to fund their nuke program) was stashed which Bush II Administration freed up under Mr. Chris Hill (now US Ambassador to Iraq), was
BANCO DELTA ASIA.Correction to the above typo.

Unfortunately, this will never reach the vast majority of Americans. The same can be said of the blatant disrespecting of Obama by the Russians (where he should of walked out, declaring a serious split with Russia). Internationally, they have Obama's number.
It is more important to our enemies to weaken and attack us that it is to recognize a kindred Marxist in Obama.Likely internal chaos will soon accompany international catastrophe.

It is like salmon swimming upstream, trying to make this catch on and resonate among the majority of Americans and infuritate them to demand better government and foreign policy administration from their elected regime. We can only sadly see and perceive future disaster coming for the United States and our Allies, and when they--mostly the American people here--are squarely hit in the head with a shovel or given a military or terrorist roundhouse kick to the jaw, it is
then that they wake up, not a moment before. It is sad.
It is so December 6, 1941 and June 24, 1950 and September 10, 2001 at times; it is frustrating.North Korea (not to mention Iran) are very serious threats to US national security; this bozo in Washington seems to be shrugging it all off. Well, thank goodness some of us at least know better.

This article was probably just lifted from commentary by John Bolton.
Which isn’t a bad thing, John Bolton makes more sense than anyone on the subject of North Korea. Too bad people don’t listen.

If the U.S. and allies wanted NKorea and Iran NOT to acquire nuclear technology, then they would have seen to it. For 3 straight presidencies now, they have failed to do the right thing, and they have instead done exactly the wrong thing.
I don’t think that’s accidental.
I think the state department wants NK and Iran to have nukes. Their actions say so. The only question that puzzles me is why???

The "journalists" were part of Al Gore's cadre. They are at best communist sympathizers. While I wouldn't wish detention by the DPRK on anyone, they are getting a real education in what communism is all about.
What do you expect from State? They are heavily infiltrated with communists / communist sympathizers and work actively against America's and Japan's interest.
This administration is not reckless. They are marxists. I would like to think they are incompetent, but they are not. They are deliberately killing the free world. They are the culmination of one of the grandest conspiracies ever contemplated. One so large and so evil that the decent American citizen simply cannot comprehend it. The long labored communist destruction of America.

That might risk the assumption that Japanese journalists and analysts lack the capability to come up with original thought and would have to merely turn to US sources to copy. I don’t assume that, in fact there have been some very excellent news reports and sources recently in both print and on TV in Japan really exposing Obama on his various global follies...and all without the benefit of John Bolton. Of course I would say that the article is in keeping with John’s philosophy, I do grant that point.

Why would Neville Chamberlain negotiate such, and sign such, foolish sellout deals in appeasing Nazi Germany, in hindsight? Pure foolishnesses, and naivete, is the prime explanation.
State Department (pukes), er, people are taught, and by nature, to oppose all force and war and settle things through talking at big tables with flower centerpieces and bottles of mineral water. In minor situations such as light border skirmishes between African third world states, this is admirable, but at some point when the enemy truly wants to overwhelm you and obliterate you, it makes no sense absolutely to appease them, and in fact only forestalls the day in which they will take the first preemptive, deadly move (such as with Hitler launching into Poland, or Al-Qaeda hitting us, or in the case of North Korea, probably launching a fully loaded ICBM at some time, once they perfect their missile technology).

Chamberlain had a socialist streak and an appreciation for the welfare state that probably made it easy for him to turn a blind eye to Hitler’s extremes.
In other words, he was willing to make his historicially awful appeasements, because he was in agreement with some of Hitler’s socialist tendencies.

Idiotic CFR trying to push their ludicrous delusion, using Zero as their 'useful puppet,' and to some extent, using Bush as well during the final 2 years of his term.

Or some kind of direct bilateral talks, ending with some kind of permanent high level official--just short of an Ambassador, like a charge d'affairs, stationed in each other's capital city, to 'cool down tensions'. Oh the US libs (all of San Francisco) on the one hand, and the leadership of the Korean Workers Party on the other would just LOVE that. You would almost have to say the whole border incident with those reporters was a rigged game.
Wonder if they are being given i-Phones and cold Taedonggang Beer.
