I am deeply concerned about President Obama's cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.
American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president's cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy.
There is no denying that as the world becomes more industrialized, we need to reform our energy policy and become less dependent on foreign energy sources. But the answer doesn't lie in making energy scarcer and more expensive! Those who understand the issue know we can meet our energy needs and environmental challenges without destroying America's economy.
Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years. So much for creating jobs.
In addition to immediately increasing unemployment in the energy sector, even more American jobs will be threatened by the rising cost of doing business under the cap-and-tax plan. For example, the cost of farming will certainly increase, driving down farm incomes while driving up grocery prices. The costs of manufacturing, warehousing and transportation will also increase.
The ironic beauty in this plan? Soon, even the most ardent liberal will understand supply-side economics.
The Americans hit hardest will be those already struggling to make ends meet. As the president eloquently puts it, their electricity bills will "necessarily skyrocket." So much for not raising taxes on anyone making less than $250,000 a year.

op ed by Sarah...
The gloves are off!
ping for later
awwwwwwww nuts, beat me to it. It always happens, but yeah, AWESOME article
Get it Sarah! You go!
Isn’t she the most awesome person EVER. I love the Yes we can quote at the end LOL
And so it begins..........
That one was my fave as well, lol!
Sarah rocks!!! :)
If I were to base judgment on what anti Palin twits are saying, I would be surprised the Shara is even literate.
Peggy Noonan was especially mean, saying that Palin isn’t “thoughtful” enough.
Why do they hate Sarah so much?
Your on the wrong site, the Daily Kos is that way
Nice, keep them coming Sarah P.
In the tradition of Fort Sumter, Sarah Palin fires the first shot.
Well done, Guv.
Gov. Palin writes as clearly, and in as straight-forward a fashion, as she speaks. Of course the lib loonies will savage this, but any person with half a brain will recognize it makes sense. Drill here, drill now, revive the economy with tax cuts. What could be simpler?
Barracuda 1
Obambi 0
He ‘claims’ to be a Newt for Prez supporter.
Signed up June 3rd to prove you were KOS kiddie?
the little 2 means there is another page.
Can America produce more of its own energy through strategic investments that protect the environment, revive our economy and secure our nation? Yes, we can. Just not with Barack Obama's energy cap-and-tax plan.
HAHA..SNAP..I hope Bambi was wearing dark pants when he read that.
Obama: Michelle, come here, hurry up, Sarah is being mean to me, she said mean things
She’s not waiting till she steps down....GO Sarah...
This is a great read go Sarah!
But But, according to the media she is a dummy, wait, according to the Elitist GOPers, she is a train wreck. If Sarah is a train wreck I wish I was a train wreck cause she is absolutely AWESOME. Sarah Palin, scaring the liberals to death since August 29th 2008
I’d like to see some more detail as to what she would propose (something a bit more specific than ‘drill here’ and ‘invest in energy’) - it’s one thing for her to hammer away at Obama for the next 3+ years, it’s another for her to hammer away at Obama AND present herself as a real alternative - but it’s one hell of a start. The best thing for Palin and this country would be if Palin emerged as something of a “shadow president” over the next few years, and this sort of stuff puts her well on her way.
Pimping Newt? Tell me again why he resigned. Sounds like he’s as much of a quitter as you seem to think Sarah is.
FIrst we get a judge to actually hear an Obama BC case now we get this from Sarah....A leader against cap and tax.....
WOO HOO! WOO HOO!
Note this op-ed is from the Washington Post. This particular dinosaur seems to be evolving, unlike that paper in New York, the name escapes me.
Beautiful inside as well as outside.......She understand the “principal of the salmon”
lol good one
What an interesting final touch.
BTW, Thanks for posting this article.
I’m sure she’ll get farther into details as she gets attacked. She’s just firing over the bow for now. Go, Sarah!
Oh, I’m sure she will too. I didn’t intend my original post as a criticism, but more of a “this is great, here’s how I think she can build off of it.”
I know. I didn’t take it that way.
What a spot on Op Ed!
I like that line but this one is a real gem for me.
Do we want to control our energy supply and its environmental impact? Or, do we want to outsource it to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia? Make no mistake: President Obama’s plan will result in the latter.
Why is it we never hear the enviromentalists complaining
about Chinese pollution, or Arabian oil spills?
Are there NO eviromental consequences from third world energy production? It’s like it’s all produced by magic
except in the USA.
Sarah is just getting started.
Sic’em Lady.
Gov. Palin recenly negotiated with TransCanada and ExxonMobil for the largest pipeline project.
These vermin remind me of an ex son-in-law who truly does have mental problems and sits at his PC for hrs.zapping everybody he can with superior, mean spirited snide little comments. He draws disability and is really a genius in his own mind.
This is a good piece. Some of the comments wondered who wrote this. They evidently do not know Sarah has a journalism degree and it is hardly ever mentioned that she was the HEAD of the Alaska Energy Commission. Sort of like how "stupid" George Bush earned an MBA from Harvard and flew jets--boy, really stupid people do that every day.
vaudine

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
....
Op-ed by Sarah Palin!
Libs are the most vile, disgusting people on the planet. They are worse then vermin, they mock her yet refuse to look at the idiot they put in the White House. He can’t even make a coherent sentence without the damn teleprompter in front of his face
BTTT
oh snap....’Cuda laying the first of many smackdowns on Obama....with snark. Game on!
...What is indeed most egregious about this Crap And Trade legislation is the injurious impact it will have on those who make the least in earnings, possibly having to be forced to make a choice between buying groceries, medicine, or simply keeping the lights on. That, ladies and gentlemen is not a pretty picture.
The biggest frustration for me is the fact we have an excessively stupid and selfish Democrat-led Congress whose members are primarily concerned with how much money they can raise for the next election cycle.
Read my tagline.....Have had it up since the third of July....She didn’t quit, she’s just gitten started.
Reagan is most remembered now for his sound and robust leadership ability but the foundation of Reagan’s philosophy was constructed during his wilderness years (1974-80)that allowed Reagan to reflect and read and do research to come up with that ammunition that would allow him to reinforce his arguments and make a stronger case. This is the Reagan that Sarah is now seeking to emulate. She will now have the time to attempt to do so.
Her ability to lead will come later.
“The best thing for Palin and this country would be if Palin emerged as something of a shadow president over the next few years, and this sort of stuff puts her well on her way.”
Just what is a “shadow president”? What are some examples of what a “shadow president” does?.
From the steps Gov. Palin has taken so far it looks to me that she understands exactly what she wants to do.
One thing that keeps going over and over in my mind is just where are the males in the Repub. Party with the cojones to do and say what Sarah is doing?
