The 'Cap And Tax' Dead End by Sarah Palin
Washington Post ^ | July 14, 2009 | Sarah Palin

Posted on 07/14/2009 3:26:55 AM PDT by DB9

By Sarah Palin Tuesday, July 14, 2009 There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America's unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won't bring jobs. Our nation's debt is unsustainable, and the federal government's reach into the private sector is unprecedented. Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges.

We must move in a new direction.

And at the end, she says:

Yes, we can. Just not with Barack Obama's energy cap-and-tax plan.

I like how's she's co-opting the Rats' favorite slogans and using them against Obama.

Barracuda indeed!

Job losses are so certain under this new cap-and-tax plan that it includes a provision accommodating newly unemployed workers from the resulting dried-up energy sector, to the tune of $4.2 billion over eight years.

Well, given that the Porkulus is creating jobs at a rate of $8,230,000 per job, $4.2 Billion is good for about 510 jobs.

Yeah, that'll cover it!

Dear Governor Palin,
Keep it up. Those that matter don’t listen to the MSM. We don’t buy into the cap&tax scheme; We believe in lower taxes across the board; We believe in locating our own energy sources, drilling for it and supplying it to U.S. And, if the rest of the world needs some of it let them buy it from us (for a small phenomenal fee of course).
I just wish we could do more to get them off your back. Unfortunately, they will not relent no matter what we do, or say. Theirs is the policy of destruction of anything or anyone that does not fit their way of thinking.
So, keep going. Until you prove otherwise, you are the brightest light bulb in the pack.

For now, yes. As I said, until she proves otherwise.
It’s kind of like watching a horror movie. Everything is fine, then all of a sudden, something jumps out at you (ref. Sanford).
It’s getting to the point where they are all guilty until proven innocent.

Sarah Palin means business. Now the liberals and mediocre-minded Krauthammers of the world will be forced to discuss matters of substance.

Not that they will have the courage or the intellect to actually take the opportunity.

Ridicule has turned on them. They ridicule themselves in refusing to engage debate on real issues, instead chaining themselves to personal attacks, twisted lies, platitudes, vague comments about Palin having to “go home and study,” and most laughable of all installing the intellectual giant Levi Johnston as their spokesperson and sage. Truly, Johnston perfectly represents the intellectual status of contemporary liberals.

Sarah Palin's article:

* Factual
* Insightful
* To the point
* Without hyperbole

"ha-ha-ha, I can't believe she actually mentions
God when the subject is energy!"

"She doesn't even mention a second stimulus package.
Which I am all for...as long as there are some tax cuts!"

"I can't believe she didn't fit her hero, Reagan, in there somewhere!
Hey guys, my hair look ok?"

“She is going to drive the Beltway crowd insane.”

It is very obvious from the comments on the “Compost” site that she's doing just that! The vile comments are a real indication of the fear they have of Gov. Palin. Crap and Tax is a loser proposition from a loser administration. Who in their right mind would intentionally make all goods and services more expensive while simultaneously driving good paying jobs overseas during the midst of a severe recession!? To say that this is good public policy is nothing short of criminal.

You say that Palin's article is factual, insightful, etc. Palins's article is also incomplete or deceptive.

She doesn't mention that cap and trade is a huge benefit to Alaska and the pipeline. Or that the final legislation will contain very significant increases in the federal loan guarantees to build the pipeline.

Indeed.

What is amazing is the number of libs who have taken the time to comment on this article by a "quitter" who has "no chance in 2012" and is "washed up politically". I count the comments to be over 700. The words and actions of the elitist left simply do not match up. In fact they are worried out of their wits about Our Gal Sarah.

The gauntlet?

“We have an important choice to make. Do we want to control our energy supply and its environmental impact? Or, do we want to outsource it to China, Russia and Saudi Arabia? Make no mistake: President Obama’s plan will result in the latter.”

Sarah nails it.

It appears you could be referring to the sort of false promises and formalized bribery found in most congressional legislation. This time it’s a death sentence sloppily packaged to look like something good for everyone.

If you don’t understand the maliciousness and trickery of Statism, start paying attention.

Cap and tax is a poison arrow aimed at the heart of all that is productive in society. It is inspired by the philosophy dictating that the chemical process which uses carbon and oxygen to produce usable energy plus carbon dioxide is somehow evil. Your own body does basically the same thing, by the way.

Yep, while Mr. Ambition himself, Mitt Romney, supposedly likewise has credibility on business, where exactly has he been in the debate and in going after Obamaconomics?

Muted and measured and all holding back for the good of his next campaign is where he’s been. The irony of Palin’s opponents calling her a quitter is enormous.

Palin speaks with credibility and honor as there’s no doubt she’s speaking honestly to her core values. This is something these libtards can’t recognize, it’s completely foreign.

If Palin’s new role (at least short term) is to leverage the strength of her visibility and popularity to be the voice of the opposition party, she has the guts and integrity to do it right.

‘...Muted and measured...’ I think that’s precisely the problem. After getting more than one hard check into the boards, I don’t see anyone on the Conserviate or GOP ticket willing to really take off the gloves and fight.

If the GOP were to visit the local rental store they could pick up some useful things (a backbone, guts, etc.). Things that I think Mrs. Palin already owns.
