Thompson's fan dance cost us a conservative nominee. My take is that it was deliberate.

To embarrass Sotomayor with her own words is to show the public who the left really is. It may not change the outcome of the confirmation process but that is not the point.

Wrong, Freddie. As Rush says, these hearings are helping to expose OBAMA because Soto is a reflection of him and his views. If done correctly-—which the GOP is doing right now-—such hearings can be extremely illustrative.

I wish someone would ask her how she would rule if a plaintiff complained that they were passed over because the employer wanted to hire a “person who had years of experience as a wise white male”?

They’re grandstanding when it’s a foregone conclusion. Just more show for the stupid ones footing the bill.

Economy...what economy?

That being said....there are probably some Republicans who really care but they’re so outnumbered...

He’s basically right. They are just a show. The decision to confirm or not has already been made before the hearings start, and they’re scripted to come to that end.

"Thompson's fan dance cost us a conservative nominee."

Which "convervative" nominee was that?

Slick Willard?
Huckleberry Hound?
Ms. Guiliani?

I was supporting Tancredo for the fifteen minutes of fame he had before bowing out. I don't think that was Fred's fault.

That’s not the point. Never was. These hearings are the way you expose the enemy for who they are; it’s how you EDUCATE.
The Democrats used such hearings to great success in the Bush years by demonizing Roberts and Alito. There has to be payback and you have to show how Soto is exactly like Obama.

The hearings give a few Senators a chance to showboat, before they vote to confirm.
