Skip to comments.Sarah Palin at the Reagan Library (8/8): "The GIPPER 2.0" and details of the FREE rally
Posted on 07/15/2009 5:36:44 AM PDT by RonDog
As I posted to MayflowerMadam on the other thread:
The purpose of THIS THREAD is to solicit SIGN IDEAS and post the most current information about this event, as it becomes available.Ive sent emails to the Republican group as well for verification that this is actually happening, and have not had any response...I am fairly confident that it **is** going to happen.
But the Simi Valley group was not expecting to get so much attention, having planned this event since LONG before Sarah Palin's recent surprise announcement -- so they are hunkering down, and are not quite sure WHAT to do now.Since we believe that MANY people will want to support Sarah -- and for whatever reason (i.e., the high cost and/or availability of tickets) will not be able to go to the dinner -- the L.A. Chapter is working on a way to help them still support Sarah, ANY WAY that we can.For now, the plan is for us to gather along the road at the entrance to the Reagan Library -- with AMERICAN FLAGS, and positive signs -- to show our support.
What SHOULD Governor Palin do at this event?
What WILL she do?
How should L.A. FReepers best support her?
Palin expected at Simi GOP gala, group says
By Michael R. Blood, AP political writer
Monday, July 13, 2009LOS ANGELES Former vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin is slated to appear at a Republican gala in Simi Valley next month as she moves to broaden her national influence after stepping down as Alaska governor.
Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley said in a statement Sunday that Palin is scheduled to attend the groups 50th anniversary gala at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Aug. 8.
The disclosure came the same day that an interview published in The Washington Times revealed that Palin plans to write a book, build a right-of-center coalition and campaign for political candidates from coast to coast with even Democrats who share her views on limited government, national defense and energy independence.
The details were the first to emerge since the Alaska governor announced earlier this month that she plans to resign July 26, a decision that shocked even her closest friends. At that time, she expressed concern over being a lame-duck governor as well as criticism aimed at her and her family.
Republican Women Federated of Simi Valley spokeswoman Pat Saraceno said the invitation-only event will be closed to the media. Several hundred people have already confirmed they plan to attend the gala, which costs $100 for members and $150 for invited nonmembers.
The group expects no more than 900 people at the event, which will be held at the cavernous pavilion that houses the former presidents jet, Air Force One.
The master of ceremonies for the event will be conservative radio talk-show host and filmmaker John Ziegler.
Reagan library spokeswoman Melissa Giller said the group rented the facility and it was up to members to decide who would be invited.
Saraceno said Palin embodies the values that we hold dear: faith, family, country first and service.
We are honored to call her our friend and advocate, she said. She is an amazing human being whose aspirations are simply to bring out the best in people.
Saraceno said the womens group reached out to Palin through her office and invited her to the event in February.
We are not interested in making this a political event, but we would be honored if she could make an appearance, Saraceno said. There are some common threads. She has family roots in Southern California. Also, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is a lasting tribute to Reagan, and she is, in our minds, quite Reaganesque in her approach to policy.
Saraceno said the organization is not paying Palin for her appearance, but it will pay for her trip, dinner and accommodations.
The Alaska governors office did not respond to e-mail or phone messages.
The appearance at the library that enshrines the legacy of the nations 40th president is certain to stoke speculation about Palins political ambitions beyond Alaska.
Sen. John McCain of Arizona, who led the 2008 Republican presidential ticket, said on NBCs Meet the Press on Sunday that he is confident Palin will remain a major factor on the national scene even after she steps down as governor.
Earlier this year, Palin was offered a speaking role at an annual congressional fundraiser in Washington, which turned into a will-she-or-wont-she mystery about whether the Alaska governor would even appear. Organizers replaced Palin as the keynote speaker after she wavered over accepting the invitation, and Palin said she never confirmed that she would speak. The governor eventually appeared at the dinner but did not address the crowd.
Saraceno said she respected Palins right to change her plans at any time. She said in an e-mail that correspondence with the governors office has been positive but cautious, but she added, we know she will come.

Here’s two ideas from my tag line:
ONLY DEAD FISH GO WITH THE FLOW
I am swimming with Sarahcudah!
Sarah reads TEAleaves!
ALSO: Freepers have your back!
Has she confirmed? Make certain of this so that another communications breakdown can be avoided like at the HSRC dinner back in February. I wouldn’t want to give the RINOs any more ammo with which to use against her.
Palin Draws Overflow Crowd At Home Depot Center (Up to 20,000)

CARSON, Calif. An enthusiastic crowd estimated between 15,000 and 20,000 jammed the Home Depot tennis stadium to rally for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin in Carson Saturday.
Palin praised running mate John McCain and criticized Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama while spelling out the goals of a McCain-Palin administration during her speech before an overflow crowd. Home Depot Center officials estimated as many as 20,000 people, jammed into the 8,000-seat capacity facility and an overflow area, attended the rally.
Saturday's event was Palin's first visit to Southern California since McCain named her as his running mate Aug. 29. The Alaska governor said her father was born in Los Angeles and her paternal grandfather was a photographer who lived in North Hollywood.

As we speak the loony leftists are getting their poison pens sharpened and their vitriolic rough drafts written. They don’t have to wait to see what she does or what she says. Their stories are already written...
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
It seems, though, that the more they attack her, the stronger and more popular she gets.
She needs to take it to the enemedia.
I couldn’t believe it yesterday when someone said she should try to get along with them instead of attacking them.
She needs to start building a conservative coalition because the GOP sure as heck isn’t going to do it. Another top notch conservative entered the race for a house seat yesterday with the announcement of Tim Walberg.
It’s ok. Just one more step on the way to the mass-failure of the MSM.
The media will be shown as nakedly partisan for all to see.
And I’ll be she also READs ALL proposed LEGISLATION before signing.
I’d consider trying to arrange another event with SarahPAC while she’s in the area. To avoid stepping on toes, let the Simi Valley event sell out first (it probably already has), and then see about booking a separate event.
“American Veterans For Palin”
That’s the sign I would hold if I could be there.
Heres two ideas from my tag line:

Good ones, Hoosiermama.
Let’s also give that farmer in your neighboring Ohio some kudos:
SARAH AMERICA !
Sums it up for me.
If you FReep-mail me, I will do my best to get you an "invitation" -- so that you can get in, if you decide to pay.Otherwise, the REST of us will be gathering outside (for FREE!) to show our support for Governor Palin.
More details to follow.
My suggestion for bumper stickers.
I can’t find anywhere if she has confirmed.
IF she is there, I think the idea of having her supporters lining the high way, (or entrance) holding American Flags and signs of support is a wonderful idea!
As Danny Kaye says to Bing Crosby in ‘White Christmas’ when he finds out the idea Bing has to help their retired General, “I think the idea is totally insane, and I wish I would have thought of it first!”
So, I wish I could help, but I don’t live in California, so I’ll just write another check to SarahPAC.............
Good luck, and take some cameras, I want to see pictures!
Oh yeah, IF she is there, and sees the signs and flags, knowing Sarah, she is going to stop the car, and get out and say ‘hello’............
I’ll have to rely on fellow Freepers for pics from this event...someday I do hope to be able to see the Reagan Library and Reagan Ranch in person.
Love the “dead fish” sign!
Liberals have minnows. We have Sarahcudah!
“And, lest you fear that no one in DARK BLUE Hollywierdland will show up...”
You can bet that looney Lefties will show up to try and spoil the event, just like they did at the Van Nuys Tea Party and Santa Monica Tea Party in April. They never understand the concept of being outnumbered. Be prepared.
I’ll bet there will be people lined up down the hill. Maybe down to the freeway! That would be awesome!
The fly that bHo killed is a result of the Maggots in the White House.
Gee maybe we could all send checks for her Sarah Pac to Ron Dog and he could present her with a LARGE envelope with them in it....take a picture for all of us to see.
Jeff, could you post a BETTER version of this idea -- perhaps even something that we could REPRODUCE in mass quantities, in time for our rally to support Governor Palin on 8/8?
Sarah Palin at the Reagan Library (8/8): "The GIPPER 2.0" and details of the FREE rally
That is quite a coup, getting Palin for their yearly fundraiser. I'm an associate member of the FRW (editor/publisher of the Hollywood Hilltoppers newsletter, a wee group by comparison to the Simi bunch) - so I'm well acquainted with many of the clubs and members.
The hook that the Simi club has is the Reagan Library - which has helped them rope in great speakers. More power to them! ~big grin~
A side-note, in the past the FRW was far too liberal from my point of view, but that has slowly changed over the last few years. With conservatism being more predominant now, a FRW club is a good place for women (and a few males too) who want to get 'more involved' in matters political.
Bumped to the top!
RonDog... I'd love to go... but, I dug up the can in the back yard a long time ago!You can join us OUTSIDE -- for FREE!
We may not get "up close and personal" with Governor Palin -- like the folks who pay $150 each to go to DINNER with here...
..but, we will be with the MEDIA, who also cannot get inside -- helping to SHAPE their reporting. :o)And, who knows -- Sarah might see so many of us cheering her on from the street outside the Library, that she stops by to say "Hi!" to us!
That is OUR mission.
Miller Time just had an Idea while talking about the elite vs. the other part of the GOP....... for a tee-shirt
YA-HOO and proud of it!
Thank you for the Ping Ron!
I'd love to be there, but I'll be in Rome for the first week of August. One of my cousins is getting married so I'm traveling there with my family for the event. Though I'm teaching summer courses, I found a substitute teacher to cover for me for that week.
I'm sure Sarah will do great, as usual. She is such a force in the conservative movement.
What time will everyone be gathering? I’m there!
(I still haven’t seen anything absolutely positively that she’ll be there. I worry that DUmmies might be setting us up.)
(I still havent seen anything absolutely positively that shell be there. I worry that DUmmies might be setting us up.)Not to worry.
SARAH ("Gipper 2.0") will be there.
And, if the DU-mmies show up, we will deal with them, too.
For MANY of us who will be there, this is not our first rodeo. :o)
And, guess which side the Simi Valley Police Department will be on. :o)
What time will everyone be gathering?I'm personally shooting for a 2 pm arrival time, with the actual "RALLY" perhaps to start at 3 pm -- to give us time to get in place before Sarah ("Gipper 2.0") -- and the MEDIA -- arrive.
The Gala Dinner inside starts at 6 pm, I think - with a Cocktail Reception and Tours starting at 5:30 pm.
My guess is that Governor Palin's motorcade will arrive around 5 pm, or so.
I'd love to be there, but I'll be in Rome for the first week of August.Hi, Victoria!
Have fun in ROMA, you lucky dog-ette!
My NEXT favorite sign idea -- after "Gipper 2.0" -- is:
From Ester 4:14, of course. :o)
And I love the sign. It's great.
He is hugh and series!
This is only 30 minute drive from my home.EXCELLENT!
Count this califamily of girls to be there!
We need them to bring signs like THESE!
Good luck bump!
Maybe Rush will show up too! That would be great!
