Obama's Science Czar: Traditional family is obsolete, punish large families
The Washington Examiner ^ | 07-15-2009 | David Freddoso

Posted on 07/15/2009 11:57:59 AM PDT by lifeisacarnival

"As United States taxpayers know, income tax laws have long implicitly encouraged marriage and childbearing...Such a pronatalist bias of course is no longer appropriate. In countries that are affluent enough for the majority of citizens to pay taxes, tax laws could be adjusted to favor (instead of penalize) single people, working wives, and small families. Other tax measures might also include high marriage fees, taxes on luxury baby goods and toys, and removal of family allowances where they exist. Other possibilities include the limitation of maternal or educational benefits to two children per family."

I don’t think that “czar” is a position that requires confirmation. Besides, they confirmed Holder, Geitner, will confirm Sotomayer, et al.

Eliminating tax breaks to families doesn’t punish them, it just fixes an inequity that gives them preferential treatment over individuals. They will be paying the same taxes as individuals.

As United States taxpayers know, income tax laws have long implicitly encouraged marriage and childbearing.

That's because we like America. If you don't, please leave.

The Bible rejoins that children are like arrows, how blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. (That does not mean that God can’t bless the single and the celibately married, of course.)

Sure.. half the Democratic base is large family based, but they happen to be minority, can’t touch that. Prime evidence in showing that the Democratic party is that of small cults rigidly segregated so they don’t come to know one another and hate each other.

I'm single, but I support tax breaks that encourage married, law-abiding people to have many children. An increasingly large percentage of my taxes goes to encouraging unmarried poor people to have as many children as possible. Our country is being stolen from us.

It’s not an inequity, it’s a policy designed to encourage people to have children for the future of our society.

You, as an individual, only spend on yourself; families are spending on the next generation, the people who are going to be paying your social security and taking care of you in your old age.

They get that treatment because they are providing something that the government needs: new people to pay all those future taxes that have already been passed upon them. If nobody has them ( and we are pretty close to zero growth Arley (would be if not for immigration), then the government will have to admit that their ss and medicare transfer payments are bogus. So they won't.

The purpose of his idea is to reduce the number of White Christians or Jews, while letting populations increase out of control in non-White/non-Christian countries. Then the American lefties will say “we should let them come in, since our population is dwindling. We need people to do the work Americans can’t do because we eliminated most of them”

This is one of dozens of Obama supporters who have been hired to do his dirty work, completely unconfirmed by anyone other than, probably, Rahm Emmanuel. These appointees are making 130k or more, I read, and ore being added every day. Is Congress funding, or Soros et al?

Yesterday I read some other, equally bad quotes from a book he authored with a couple, the Erlichs, in which he pitched totalitarian govt. having complete power over all resources, goods, health, etc. He also wanted to reduce the population for the good of the planet, and suggested one way to do it would be to put something in the water supply to make women barren. This man, Dr. John P. Holdren is a peach of a guy.

After you google all you can about him, look up Van Jones, the new green czar-ex felon who found his niche while in prison where he made best friends with radical black revolutionaries. He came out of prison a card carrying Communist.

You do not even have to connect the dots--Obama is doing this for those who care to look. Where do you think he is going with all these initiatives that require govt. aid--try the collapse of our govt. and complete dictatorship (Cloward-Piven theory, anyne)--remaking the govt. in the image he wants.

Voila! His hope becomes the change he touted and wanted and never really defined because he could not have won with it.

pronatalist bias

I assume this means people who want children. He is correct, in that many European countries have very low birth rates. They are also losing their identity to the Muslim "workers" who they have had to import to keep the social program payments going. A country that has children is a healthy, vibrant country. A country that discourages children is moribund.

Mark Steyn points out the same thing in regard to Euros who just can't understand why Americans have to drive these big cars. It's because Americans are still having children, and you need transport for a family, not for just two people.

Right out of Satan’s handbook.

The family was the first institution of man, created by God.

It’s also the prime vehicle by which the knowledge of God transfers from generation to generation.

Understandable that it would be under attack by Satan’s minions.

You've got it. Holdren is a community activist, an acolyte of Paul Ehrlich, who was famously wrong about almost all of his malthusian prediction. Holdren, unlike Ehrlich, who did som biology, has never done science, though his degree from Stanford is in physics. With a relatively light student load he spent much, I'd guess most, of his time writing for Ramparts, the premier Marxist journal of the 70s, Mother Jones, and organizing against things like nuclear power and capitalism. As late as 2006 he lectured and wrote about the need to lower the GDP per person in the US - something he is now in the penultimate position to do with his comrade in the oval office. There is another excellent summary of Holdren’s background by Ben Johnson at Front Page Magazine (founded by the reformed editor of Ramparts, David Horowitz). http://www.frontpagemag.com/Printable.aspx?ArtId=34198

It still amazes me how self professed conservatives can do a 180 and turn into big government, “let’s use the tax code for social engineering” and “your tax burden is never too small when it comes to MY kids” when it hits their pocketbooks or even worse, when it comes to others being forced to support their children. I know several arch conservative couples who have 4-6 kids and brag about how they don’t pay hardly any taxes at all...while condemning high taxes in general or criticizing how liberals give tax breaks to their constituencies.

I didn’t ask you to have those 5 or 6 kids and nobody asked my opinion before they raised my taxes and lowered (or eliminated) yours because having children is “such an expense”. Your children are your decision, why do support putting a gun to my head and require through the force of law for me to pay YOU to raise them? What is the oft spoke phrase of conervatives when they see welfare queens having more kids to gain greater benefits? “If you can’t afford them, don’t have them.”

And each time I mention it I get the “MY kids are going to pay YOUR social security!”. Not only do I not want YOUR kids paying MY social security but this has to be the most lame and unsupportable excuse coming out of the mouth of a conservative I’ve ever seen. We all know SS is a ponzi scheme requiring more and more workers paying into the system to cover more and more retirees.

Their response only codifies the system, basically becoming an enabler to the one issue that we all agree is bankrupt and will not be able to serve much longer without drastic changes.

And what will those changes be? It will become a needs based welfare program which means I’ll never see a dime because I was responsible and took care of my own future needs. So you can take “MY kids..pay YOUR..” and stick in the lock box.

There’s nothing more exasperating than a conservative who talks the talk but won’t walk the walk when it hits THEIR pocketbook. You’re an opportunistic poser, nothing more.
