Mitt Romney outpacing Sarah Palin in fund-raising race [BARF!]
The Boston Herald ^ | 2009-07-17 | Dave Wedge

Posted on 07/16/2009 10:00:45 PM PDT by rabscuttle385

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is leading Sarah Palin in the early fund-raising race among potential 2012 GOP presidential candidates, raking in a cool $1.6 million in the first six months of the year, new figures show.

Romney, who raised more than any other Republican during his time in the 2008 primary, has continued his torrid pace, more than doubling the $733,000 raised by Palin since Jan. 1.

Romney’s Free and Strong America political action committee raised a total of $1,610,019 since Jan. 1 while handing out $74,000 to federal and state GOP candidates nationwide. After expenses, the PAC was left with $841,000 cash, according to a federal campaign finance report filed yesterday.

Mitt knows economics and has business ties....
_________________________________________________

1. Economics - Romney hijacked the 2002 Winter Olympics and changed the set budget into a 50% larger expense...

Yes your boy likes to spend money...

2. Business ties - Romney had business ties in China that he was anxious to dump on the US...He wanted China to be a favored nation when is came to trade and friendship ..

Can you spell big economic advantage for Romney’s personal coffers ????

Them six houses done come cheap...

Political campaigns can put a big dent in the piggy bank...

A politician should be known by the actions he takes, not the words he says.

Doesn't help Mitt out much, does it?

Mitt Romney can raise a trillion if he likes. Heck’s bells, he can probably get the treasury to write him a check. He still will barely rate an asterisk south of the Mason-Dixon Line.

Ignore Rommey's dog abuse .... check

Romney also abused his dog Seamus.
And that is just one example

"But the details of the event are more than unseemly — they may, in fact, be illegal.
Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws specifically prohibit anyone
from carrying an animal "in or upon a vehicle, or otherwise, in an unnecessarily cruel
or inhuman manner or in a way and manner which might endanger the
animal carried thereon.
" An officer for the Massachusetts Society
for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals responded to a description of the situation
saying "it's definitely something I'd want to check out." The officer,
Nadia Branca, declined to give a definitive opinion on whether Romney broke the law
but did note that it's against state law to have a dog in an open bed of a pick-up truck,
and "if the dog was being carried in a way that endangers it, that would be illegal."

"Dog on Roof? What Was It Like for Romney's Pooch?
Scientists Say Dog Likely Experienced Wind-Whipped, Uncomfortable Trip
"Before beginning the drive, Mitt Romney put Seamus, the family's hulking Irish setter,
in a dog carrier and attached it to the station wagon's roof rack.
e'd built a windshield for the carrier, to make the ride more comfortable for the dog," read the article.
Jordan Kaplan, the owner of Petaholics, a dog walking service in New York City,
and a lifelong dog owner and dog lover, said Romney's actions were uncalled for.
....What Happens to a Dog on a Roof Traveling 50 MPH?"

"Romney's dog - This is a distinction Mitt Romney probably could do without, but he is surely
the first presidential candidate to be attacked for putting a dog with diarrhea
in a carrier and tying it to the top of a station wagon.
Romney's defense: Seamus liked it. "He scrambled up there every time we went on trips,"
the Republican said during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. "He got in all by himself and enjoyed it."

"As the oldest son, Tagg Romney commandeered the way-back of the wagon,
keeping his eyes fixed out the rear window, where he glimpsed the first sign of trouble.
''Dad!'' he yelled. ''Gross!'' A brown liquid was dripping down the back window,
payback from an Irish setter who'd been riding on the roof in the wind for hours.
As the rest of the boys joined in the howls of disgust,
Romney coolly pulled off the highway and into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car,
then hopped back onto the highway."

"Story about dog on car roof comes back to bite Romney
Critics, jokesters make issue of tale
TIME.com's Swampland blog has been flooded with more than 200 comments
from readers complaining of animal cruelty"

Romney's bad behavior Exposed by Seamus

"Romney Loses Nomination Over Dog Abuse?
Romney was traveling that summer with his wife, five sons, and Seamus to his parent's cottage on Lake Huron.
But hours into the ride, Seamus apparently suffered diarrhea,
which ran down the back window of the car. Romney's sons, all under 13, howled in disgust.
Romney pulled off the road into a service station.
There, he borrowed a hose, washed down Seamus and the car, and they drove on to Ontario.
.....David Kravitz wrote on BlueMassGroup, a liberal blog.
"It also strikes me as classic Romney: it solves a problem efficiently,
in a business-like manner, and with no regard whatsoever
for the suffering that the solution may cause."

Actually dear lady, the final “checkmate” is not your play to make. It will come when the Romneybots finally overplay their hand and the powers that be toss them.

My question would be is Romney really worth that.

The facts are plain to see.

Are you really so much in love with the man that it is worth all this trouble to support one who in the end disregards your political views any time it suits him? Is love really so blind even in politics?

You really are a world-class idiot, flag. That post #58 I quoted was written entirely by Jim Robinson on the subject of Slick Willard, with the source link and credit. So are you saying he should leave his own website ? I’m sure he’d be very interested in your comment on the subject.

BTW, flag, since you seem to be using the same verbatim deranged attacks as your fellow cretin/troll, Darkwolf377, can I take it you are one person using multiple screennames to attack FReepers in good standing and to deride this website as “not being Conservative” ? I know you Slick Willardbots enjoy registering multiple accounts on FR to exaggerate the number of leftist supporters on this website and to cause general disruption.

ROMNEY FOR DICTATOR
REASON 5: Romney has received the endorsement of Martin Luther King

"Mitt Romney Lies About Father ‘Marching With Martin Luther King, Jr.’"
"Mitt Romney has been caught in yet another lie.
Only yesterday Romney’s claim of not supporting Planned Parenthood abortion mills was abruptly smashed by a photograph surfacing of him at one of their fundraisers in 1994.
Today, it’s Romney’s claim that his father “marched with” famed civil rights leader Martin Luther King, Jr.
During his “I’m a Mormon but it doesn’t matter” speech, Mitt Romney claimed he saw his father,
George Romney, marching with MLK during a 1968 civil rights march through Grosse Pointe, Michigan.
It was a stirring account of the efforts of his father to show that the Romney family have always reached across ecumenical lines.
Only one little problem… it never happened."

"Mitt Romney went a step further in a 1978 interview with the Boston Herald.
Talking about the Mormon Church and racial discrimination, he said:
"My father and I marched with Martin Luther King Jr. through the streets of Detroit."
"Yesterday (12//07), Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom acknowledged that was not true.
"Mitt Romney did not march with Martin Luther King,"
he said in an e-mail statement to the Globe.

Against Myth Romney is 1:

"On Sunday, June 23, 1963, 125,000 people marched down Detroit's Woodward Avenue
to the Civic Center, in what was described at the time as the largest civil-rights demonstration in the nation's history.
According to the next day's account in the Holland Evening Sentinel,
the crowd at the Center "lustily booed," when representatives of Governor George W. Romney
read a proclamation declaring "Freedom March Day in Michigan." But Martin Luther King Jr. didn't fault Romney for his absence,
which the governor ascribed to his policy against public appearances on the Sabbath.
"At a news conference following the march . .
[King] refused to criticize Romney for not attending the demonstration," the Sentinel reported."

Against Myth Romney is 2:

Susan Englander, assistant editor of the Martin Luther King Jr. Papers Project at Stanford University, who is editing the King papers from that era,
says Myth Romney was untruthful, when she told the Globe yesterday:
"I researched this question, and indeed it is untrue that George Romney marched with [Dr.] King."

Against Myth Romney is 3:

"King never marched in Grosse Pointe, according to the Grosse Pointe Historical Society,
and had not appeared in the town at all at the time the Broder book was published.
“I’m quite certain of that
,” says Suzy Berschback, curator of the Grosse Pointe Historical Society"

Of course, RomneyBOTs continue to attack these educated women,
who have spoken the Truth about Myth Romney and venal, odious deeds.

FORGET RINO ROMNEY

"Never send a monkey to do a man's job."
~ Captain Leo Davidson

"Governor Mitt Romney, who touts his conservative credentials to out-of-state Republicans,
has passed over GOP lawyers for three-quarters of the 36 judicial vacancies he has faced
,
instead tapping registered Democrats or independents -- including two gay lawyers who
have supported expanded same-sex rights, a Globe review of the nominations has found.
Of the 36 people Romney named to be judges or clerk magistrates, 23 are either registered Democrats
or unenrolled voters who have made multiple contributions to Democratic politicians
or who voted in Democratic primaries, state and local records show.
In all, he has nominated nine registered Republicans, 13 unenrolled voters,
and 14 registered Democrats."
- Boston Globe 7/25/2005

Romney Rewards one of the State's Leading Anti-Marriage Attorneys by Making him a Judge
Romney told the U.S. Senate on June 22, 2004, that the "real threat to the States is not the
constitutional amendment process, in which the states participate,
but activist judges who disregard the law and redefine marriage . . ."
Romney sounds tough but yet he had no qualms advancing the legal career of one
of the leading anti-marriage attorneys.
He nominated Stephen Abany to a District Court.
Abany has been a key player in the Massachusetts Lesbian and Gay Bar Association which,
in its own words, is "dedicated to ensuring that the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision
on marriage equality is upheld, and that any anti-gay amendment or legislation is defeated."
- U.S. Senate testimony by Gov. Mitt Romney, 6/22/2004 P>

"Romney announces he won't fill judicial vacancies before term ends
Despite his rhetoric about judicial activism, Romney announced that
he won't fill all the remaining vacancies during his term - but instead
leave them for his liberal Democrat successor!

Governor Mitt Romney pledged yesterday not to make a flurry of lame-duck
judicial appointments in the final days of his administration . . . David Yas,
editor of Lawyers Weekly, said Romney is "bucking tradition" by resisting the urge to
fill all remaining judgeships. "It is a tradition for governors to use that power to appoint judges
aggressively in the waning moments of their administration," Yas said.
He added that Romney has been criticized for failing to make judicial appointments.
"The legal community has consistently criticized him for not filling open seats quickly enough
and being a little too painstaking in the process and being dismissive of the input of the
Judicial Nominating Commission," Yas said.

from reading about my scurrilous, carpetbagging, record, my fake endorsements,

my infliction of socialized medicine without a vote to impose European "healthcare" (except for me),
my abuse of Seamus violating Massachusetts's animal cruelty laws,

for making me a presidential candidate of distinction in many ways leading to
TIME's 200 comments from readers complaining of animal cruelty

which did unfairly expose me,

or so many about my team secretly criticizing and attacking Gov. Palin

You Romney haters all use the threat of JimRob tossing anyone who disagrees with your viewpoint of Romney, don’t you. You know he doesn’t like Romney, and you play that up and hide behind that fact all the time. How very cowardly, and how anti-First Amendment rights of free speech. It appears you are the ones that act in a fascist manner, just like the Dems, threatening with the likes of shutting down talk radio through legislation to stifle any speech you don’t want to hear. Stand on your own two feet and can the threats, toots. It is very very unattractive and you are giving a supposedly free speech forum a very bad image. Grow up. I despise bullies.

All that money came from fewer than 1,000 people. Palin raised $733,000 from over 11,000 people. Plus, Palin’s raised over $200,000 more since her resignation. Then add the money she’s raised for her legal defense fund, and she’s not that far back from Romney. Romney’s also been holding fundraisers for his PAC, Palin hasn’t. Once she gets involved in serious fundraising, she’ll leave Romney in the dust.

Thanks for your kind words of support. I’m sorry you’ve been attacked by that deranged old hag for doing nothing more than defending FReepers in good standing and speaking the truth about Slick Willard and his record of shame. These people have no defense to offer, so they go to vicious personal attacks. Frankly, I don’t know where these trolls got the idea I collect comic books, since I don’t even own any. I’ve got several polls and maps on my FReeper page that I add from time to time on different subjects.

I guess in their sad, deranged little world they think comic book collectors and Star Trek fans are worse than epic fail Socialist Governors who destroy state economies with their Socialist medicine big gubmint schemes, unleash murderers on the public via their liberal appointed judges, impose gay marriage, and bury the parties they pledged to resuscitate all the while backstabbing and undermining successful Conservative leaders because they get in their way of ultimate power. Loony toons.

I am opposed to his politics.

As anyone who cares about this nation and carries the banner of Conservatism should be.

I have made that point time and time again sans any mention of a possible purge. Indeed I am opposed to it. The “pro Mitt” crowd and their antics do more good for those of us who oppose the man ever could with our efforts.

Plus you guys are fun to watch when you spin Mitt's record, or ignore it or whatever. I would miss that dearly.

There you go again. What a diseased little brain you have.

No one mentioned Romney's philosophy and religion of hate which you and his RomneyBOTs constantly
use to attack anyone criticizing Romney-the-Backstabbing-Liberal-Chameleon.

What’s remarkable and sad about that fruitcake is that it once claimed to be a GOP National Committeemember. That means it was once in a position of power within the party. Is it any wonder the IL GOP is in its current state of abject corruption, statism, and failure with deranged lunatics like that in power ? Scary stuff.

All of Romney’s money didn’t get him the prize of the GOP nomination in 2008 ....

anti-First Amendment rights of free speech.

Actually the first amendment applies only to Jim Robinson on this site. Any other points of view are permitted only if he accepts them. It is likely that polite Romneyites will be permitted to remain, others will go the way of recalcitrant Giuliani supporters two years ago. That is the way this world works.

RINO liar, chameleon, carpetbagger, backstabber, socialist Mitt Romney:
Make all the promises you have to...

"Romney in Seven Words"
"On Wednesday, after his loss in the New Hampshire primary, Gov. Mitt Romney returned to Boston
to lick his wounds and conduct a telephone fundraiser before heading off to his next must win state of Michigan.
ABC Radio microphones were there and they featured an audio quote from Romney in their top of the hour news broadcasts.
Romney was encouraging his phone bank volunteers with a little pep talk when he unintentionally summed up his entire campaign;
ironically hitting upon the reason why he has failed to gain any traction with conservatives despite spending the most money of any Republican.
ABC News Radio was contacted by telephone and confirmed the following quote from their report.
" Hit the phones today make all the promises you have to, and…
make sure that we get the funds that we need to keep on propelling this campaign forward with power and energy.
Make all the promises you have to.

That’s Romney in a nutshell.
Of all the Republicans running, he alone has sought to clarify, cover,
and indeed change past positions in an attempt to curry favor with conservatives.
In the process, Romney has developed a reputation not as a principled conservative,
but as a politician who will say almost anything and take almost any position to win votes. "

It’s time this one was shown the door, like its good pal and deranged, potty-mouthed slanderer Slick Willardbot, the ex-FReeper Scarchin.
