It’s more than that...any “conservative” movement has been co-opted by the go along to get along crowd. They foolishly believed that we could compromise with commies.

It’s time to stop the madness. I want to see Washington stormed like it’s Frankenstein’s castle.

Read if for yourself ... if you can decipher the legalese mumbo jumbo:

Linky Thing: Text of "America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009"

It states:

IN GENERAL- Except as provided in this paragraph, the individual health insurance issuer offering such coverage does not enroll any individual in such coverage if the first effective date of coverage is on or after the first day of Y1.

From a comment on the site, :

Linky Thing: Explanation

stating that the this reference is to the requirement that private insurers will be required to participate in a Health Insurance Exchange or they cannot write new policies.

Quoting from the link:

So what is the Health Insurance Exchange that new plans will have to participate in? You can read about it in the bill here, or in the committee summary:

The new Health Insurance Exchange creates a transparent and functional marketplace for individuals and small employers to comparison shop among private and public insurers. It works with state insurance departments to set and enforce insurance reforms and consumer protections, facilitates enrollment, and administers affordability credits to help low- and middle-income individuals and families purchase insurance. Over time, the Exchange will be opened to additional employers as another choice for covering their employees. States may opt to operate the Exchange in lieu of the national Exchange provided they follow the federal rules.

According to the bill text, the Exchange will be made available to the public through a telephone hotline and a website, which, the bill stipulates, must be written in plain text.

And, from Instapundit, here:

Linky Thing: Instapundit

Investor’s Business Daily did not continue to read the bill to page 19. “Individual health insurance coverage that is not grandfathered health insurance coverage under subsection (a) may only be offered on or after the first day of Y1 as an Exchange-participating health benefits plan. ” It does not outlaw individual private coverage – you can still buy the plan on the Exchange where they will compete with the public option, not be replaced by it.

What a scam...They’ve been working on it for years...Decades...But they finally pulled it off...

They finally got American people to depend on the gov’t for their existance and the gov’t can now shift us in any direction they want...

NAFTA and the WTO were genious...Get rid of our ablility to completely support ourselves and turn everything over to the gov’t...

We wanted it, we got it...

Controlling your access to healthcare, based on “approved behaviors and lifestyles”, would give the government elitists total control over everything you do.

But, that’s not enough! They also want to control your energy consumption.

Talk about “a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism”...

We have that in France and we got a huge debdt, big taxes, weak economy and ...no doctors(numbers are decreasing quickly )

Resist to tyrany now or it will be too late

The ultimate goal of this bill is a single-payer system.
Defeat this garbage piece of legislation, NOW!

I agree. This bill is the first step ... and needs to be stopped. Once it's in place the next step is to set the rules for the "Health Insurance Exchange" to, ultimately, make the government plan the only viable one. Game, Set, Match

While this bill isn't the endgame, it moves the ball on the one yard line.

I’m wondering what _enforcement_ is behind all the prohibitions in the bill.

Of course it is. Page 16 all but outlaws private insurance, grandfathering what you have but ending that thru attrition (who _doesn’t_ change their health plan details at times?).

No, it doesn't. At least not in the single step most people are reading into the text on page 16. The bill doesn't say that no new private policies can be written after year 1. It say they can't be written by companies that don't take part in the "Health Insurance Exchange".

The endgame for these idiots is a single payer system and this POS bill is a big step in that direction ... but it does not mandate that after its passage no one can get new private insurance.

Truly frightened at this point. My family is currently on my husband’s old company’s COBRA as we shop for a private policy - his new company is based out of state and to join their insurance would mean out of network premiums, copays and deductibles. So in the meantime they are subsidizing the COBRA and we are looking.

But what this means is, if we don’t get a new policy very quickly, we might lose that option altogether? I think I may throw up.

It is like applying the brake and going up hill and expecting the car to accelerate.

Great illustration . . . there's a tag line in there somewhere.
