Patriots this Saturday included Legionnaires Halsey (USMC - Korea) and Jack, (Coast Guard - Korean War Era), Lurker Bill, [Mrs] Trooprally and myself. Pics are by [Mrs] T.
Jack is a newbie this week and our first Coast Guard member. Does any one know what a Coast Guarder is called? As in Marines = grunt, Navy = squid (but only by Marines).
ALSO, the Olney FReep needs an Air Force flag, a Coast Guard flag and a Navy flag. If you can help, please FReep mail me for an address.
FReepers, and conservatives, are just a good bunch of people.
With cars turning right without stopping to head south on Georgia avenue (around our corner in front of us) people crossing the road put their life in jeopardy. The cars turning right are usually looking left for south bound traffic, ignoring the red stop light or the white pedestrian cross light. And this is every light change. So we help the people across the street.
Lurker Bill pushes the Cross button when he sees someone slowing their walk and looking left (north) to cross MD Rte. 108. And FReepers on our right flank literally put our signs down, step out into the street and stop cars.
BELOW LEFT: Stopping traffic. BELOW RIGHT: Helping the mother and two kids across the street. We also gave each kid an American flag. Cindy_True_Supporter purchased these small flags specifically because they have a round ball on top, PC safe for kids. This scene is repeated several times each month, along with numerous warnings to adults who cross here.
BELOW LEFT: Lurker Bill in his almost always pose - waving back to supporters. You can see the crossing button stand at the bottom of the flag pole. BELOW RIGHT: Coast Guard Vet Jack. He is a natural on the corner.
BELOW: Jack in back ground, with me and Halsey.
The Olney FReep is in need of an Air Force Flag, a Coast Guard Flag, and a Navy Flag. Please contact me by FRmail if you can help out. While we have a banner with the 5 service branches on it, we are missing these three flags.
And of course our supporters:
And the moonbats were there. Their numbers have once again decreased from this past spring after the Peace Conference. For several weeks they numbered a dozen or more. They did manage more today than their once again normal 5 or 6.
WARNING TO FREEPERS ATTENDING OLNEY
Some new money making have been installed on north bound Georgia Avenue right before you enter the main business district. Slow your speed after the light at King William Drive.
And a new one has been placed just south of Brookeville, between Brookeville and the Longwood Community Center.
REMEMBER
Next Saturday, same place, Georgia Avenue, MD Rte. 97 and MD Rte. 108 in Olney
NEW TIME - 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM
As always, the D.C. Chapter's rules for protesting will be in effect. Briefly, they are: No violence, no profanity, no racism, no provocations, obey the law and treat all law enforcement officers with respect.
But a lot of verbal engagement in Olney is always welcome.
If you live in northern VA and want a short cut to Olney See Post 39 Here. It's an easy 20 minute drive from the American Legion Bridge.
A special Thanks to a FReeper FRiend for enhancing the original plain type directions.
The Archive of Olney FReeps is here or in the LINKS section of Trooprally's ABOUT Page.
WEATHER UPDATES HERE.
Coast Guard members = “Coasties”
Recalling your Boy Scout training there Troop? Like the idea of flags for the kids. Good on all of you guys. Hugs all around.
That’s what I have always heard... but then I have heard Marines called ‘gyrines’ ( shortly before all hell broke loose of course)
DC Chapter Master Ping List.
Easy reading for a Friday.
Very good AAR . Thanks Mr T.
[Mrs]T
Hey there...good job!
See you tonight...a little late maybe.
Maryland PING!
Thanks for the info. Really didn’t know what to call Jack except Patriot.
[Mr] T
We also give flags out to kids at Walter Reed when they and the parents stop by and chat. Sometimes give the troops one as a memento.
Hows the "global warmer" out there? Beautiful day today - beach weather in Olney this morning, low 80s now and NO humidity.
[Mr] T
Yep - we saw each other, and you made it on time. Good Deal!
Another weekend coming up.
[Mr] T
Thanks for the ping-a-ling.
[Mr] T
BTTT!
Oh Troop, I gotta tell you, we’re freezing to death here. We are holding our annual week-long outdoor camp meeting and tonight it was down in the 50s. I bout froze my buns off. Ran to the car and dug round in the trunk for a blanket. I’ve never seen anything like it. The wind was blowing like the middle of winter. Some of the “old” folks has to get in their car and leave. It’s been cold all spring and summer so far. We haven’t had any summer. My tomatoes won’t get ripe. They just sit there being all green and such. Weird.
Must be that ther’ Global Warming that I’ve ben’ hearing about. /sarc off
Our tomatoes are doing real well. The cucumber plants actually died but I don’t think it was the weather. Got brown spots all over the leaves and finally are not worth watering. We did get a few off the vines. Last year was great but we had climbing vines. This year got ground runners only because they were “burpless”. They sure are burpless since we aren’t getting any more from the plants.
[Mr] T
Well, I preached on the “Wrath of God” this morning. Warning people that America is going to pay the price for her sins, because God’s wrath has to be satisfied. The only way we will get out of it is for the whole nation to turn back to God and repent and then God will hear our prayers. People don’t get it. God cannot tolerate sin, so when it gets beyond managable with the prayers of the faithful, then God steps in with the “wrath” thing and it ain’t pretty.
