Unemployment tops 10 percent in 15 states in June (Yes We Can!)

WASHINGTON — Unemployment topped 10 percent in 15 states and the District of Columbia last month, according to federal data released Friday. The rate in Michigan surpassed 15 percent, the first time any state hit that mark since 1984.

The Federal Reserve this week projected that the national unemployment rate, currently at a 26-year high of 9.5 percent, will pass 10 percent by the end of the year. Most Fed policymakers said it could take "five or six years" for the economy and the labor market to get back on a path of long-term health. To get there, consumers must return to a regular spending groove and housing prices need to start rising again.

I wish the unemployment rate in WAshington D.C. was a little higher - by say, 100 Senators and howevermany Representatives there are, plus the President and his staff.

Dream on.

I'd like to see a comparison of states and cities by unemployment rate and political philosophy of those in charge and how long they have been in charge.

Would not be surprising but could be enlightening

“I think they want the whole economy to utterly collapse.”

When the Congressional Budget Office itself flatly states the current level of spending is unsustainable, that certainly portends collapse.

Illinois, Indiana, Nevada,
North Carolina, ,
Rhode Island, Ohio and Oregon.

Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and Alabama voted for McCain.

Doesn’t matter. Obama could reveal a national plan to have armed thugs ravish all families and the White House switchboard would be flooded with calls from leftists wanting to be first.

And these are “official” government unemployment figures. Does anyone believe their unending bullshit anymore? The real figures are probably closer to 20% in the Obama Belt Blue States.

Folks, we’ve got a real Depression Christmas coming on this year. But liberals don’t believe in Christmas anyway so we’ll probably see the kept press coming out with headlines like; “Administration Cautions Against Irresponsible Spending on Energy Consuming Toys.”

I’m putting out my Christmas lights anyway for tradition’s sake and so the neighborhood children can tell their kids that they remember them but I think my street is going to be much darker this year.

States with responsible policies would have a good chance of continuing to do well, but I’m sure BO will ensure they don’t.

Red counties are only getting 50% the stimulus $.

And they can’t even use the stimulus to pay off debt. They have to come up with more govmint programs that will continue to cost in the future.

“so they will all be shocked or never know what hit them?”

As the unemployment rate climbs, minorities in the inner city urban areas are being disproportionally affected. Recall these areas produced strong support for Obama in the last election. IMHO it is these areas that will reach the breaking point first. They will feel betrayed by the government they elected. They will come to understand there is no pot of gold to redistribute, because the US Government is the largest debtor on earth. You can't redistribute something that is not there. When people don't have jobs, savings, or resources to fall back on during tough times, they will resort to violence (rioting and looting) to get what they need. When inflation kicks in and things like bread and milk increase in price overnight, observe what happens in the inner cities of Detroit, Newark, and Los Angeles. The National Guard will be called in to try and restore order. The inner cities will burn at the hands of the residents.

Napalitano best be thinking how to contain this type of unlawful behavior rather than chasing her self-imagined windmills of "right-wing extremism".

Loads of homes for sale, and they aren't getting a nibble...where are all those 'Free Staters'? The elder Sununu recently stated that there are now more people leaving NH than entering...in response; Lynch raises the tolls, cigarette taxes, car registration fees, on and on. Property taxes are among the nation's highest. Ye gads.

Would any pollster dare ask the question-If you had it to do over again,
would you still vote for Obama ?

They would all still say ‘yes’ because it’s all still Bush’s fault and you’ve got to give Obama time to work his magic and fix the mess that Bush left him with. Ask any lib- you’ll get the same answer. Every time I talk about this with someone who voted for Obama I get the same answer- anything is better than Bush. We could be in the middle of nuclear armageddon with the world burning down around them and they will still say the same thing: ‘Anything is better than Bush’. You’re assuming that libs have some common sense and can recognize and admit to a mistake when they see one. Nope.

Most Fed policymakers said it could take "five or six years" for the economy and the labor market to get back on a path of long-term health. To get there, consumers must return to a regular spending groove and housing prices need to start rising again.

And let me add one more thing: The RATS must give up on their economy destroying cap & tax plan. If that becomes law, any meager recovery will come to a screeching halt.

The hidden energy tax on everything we buy will dampen the "spending groove." The Federal, Imperial Government Home Inspection that must take place before you can put your home on the market will further destroy housing prices.

FWIW, my house is not quite six years old. A friend of mine who runs a home inspection service and is familiar with my house and has read the relevant portions of the Cap & Tax bill, told me I'd need to spend around $2,000.00 to bring my house into "spec" if I want to sell it. Guess I'll stay here awhile.
