If We Double CO2 Levels, What Does It Look Like?

Al Gore and the alarmists talk about how doubling CO2 is going to cause world mayhem. Take a look at what doubling CO2 looks like and then you'll know why Al maintains his lavish CO2-spewing lifestyle.

The form of argument known as “reduction ad absurdum”.

Works for me!

The facts, the current level of CO2 is past the saturation point. So nothing will happen if it went up 10x. All the energy that can be trapped has been trapped, which is zilch. In fact the CO2 levels have been much much higher than they are today, as the dinosaurs drove happily around in their huge SUVs and nothing happened.

In the case of AGW, all the GCMs and the CO2 based theory predicts that there should be a measurable hotspot in the upper troposphere. Observations from satellites and weather balloons have been made, and no hotspot has been found. In a less politicized field, this would have been the end of it.

Need new theory.

CO2 is 1.5 times as heavy as air (therefore is a problem in mining the deeper one goes). As a result, CO2d is trapped near the surface of the earth, and, by 10,000 feet (timberline approx)is decreasing in concentration fast. It is well that CO2 stays low where it is needed....by....PLANTS for their metabolism and the production of O2. In fact, the more co2 at altitudes where plants grow, the faster they grow...especially ....CROPS!. The idea that concentrations above timberline have any influence on global warming is preposterous. The highest levels of CO2 are found during ice ages, probably because the available plant mass is using less of the gas.

Just some additional thoughts.

Actually, CO2 is not trapped near the surface of the earth. Believe it or not, the atmosphere has a relatively even mix up to about 50 miles altitude. Why? Because of wind turbulence. So there is no “layer” of CO2 that “traps” heat near the surface of the earth.

If you have evidence to the contrary, I would like to see it. Just might be that the information I have read is wrong.

Thanks for some useful facts about CO2.

In exchange, here's one for you. Since the first satellite surveys of earth, even before Landsat, the percentage of the earth's surface covered by forest has increased by a small -- but measurable -- amount each year.

Man's economic activity is good for the trees. Rain forest and all...

So you take one million empty window panes and place them over your city. You then fill 300 hundred of the window panes with glass. The other 999,700 are empty. The global warming idiots would have us believe that those 300 filled panes would trap the heat? Yeah...right.

Why not just legalize CFC’s and have Mylie Cyrus bring back big hair. That should open up a big enough hole in the ozone to suck out all the excess CO2.

As many other accomplished people have stated we also will stake our name on the opinion that the Global Climate Models (GCM) are grossly deficient in the organic feedback pathways inherent in the Earth's natural milieu. And thus grossly deficient in the predictive power of the model. The anthropogenic component of global warming, if there is such, is of little consequence.

This opinion is based on many facts:

1) CO2 has been much higher in the Earth's past, and has vacillated continuously without influence from SUV's.

2) CO2 levels in the Earth's atmosphere seem to follow temperature levels (don't know if this is proven) thereby reflecting both the negative biological pathways, and the Boltzman phenomenon of lighter gasses escaping the gravitational field thus concentrating the heavier (CO2).

3) Both Venus and Mars have CO2 heavy atmospheres, meaning planetary mechanisms exist outside the realm of SUV's.

4) The anthropogenic CO2 component in the GCM's is introduced by empirical "forcing" factors which, if not subject to the gaia-negative pathways and non-linearity cited above, are bogus. Simply put, no matter the super computer, garbage in, garbage out.

5) Earthwise, water vapor is so much more potent as a regulating factor, both in quantity, periodicity, and radiation transfer, as to make the miniscule CO2 anthropogenic component a selectively exaggerated factor when massive natural pathways are absent in the model.

6) The protectors of the GCM's are climate science "experts" thereby operating in a sequestered limited (particularly biologically limited) analytical venue.

7) Sociologically AGW is a cogent method of mass extortion and of advancing some privately held world agenda; and is consistently propounded by uninformed, insecure personalities who grope for such..

Won't work now - didn't work back then, either.

Add-up the Atomic Weight of the simplest CFC or Freon molecule. It is so heavy that it zooms to the ground - never makes it to the ozone layer ............FRegards

Yes, but your rational logic is not allowed.

The fact that the heat absorption of CO2 is limited, and the fact that it can only ‘trap heat’, using that phrase ever so lightly, over a certain small band of the available sunlight spectra is fact. Both of which are provable in laboratory experiments. Whatever alleged damage CO2 has done to planet earth, again using the words lightly, has already been done. CO2's effect is logarithmic and we are past the 3 Sigma, so the remaining 3-4% is not going to do much.

We are just beginning to understand what part magnetic fields play in climate science -- Both the earth's and the sun's. The magnetic field comes heavily into play when a planet has none, like mars and venus. Then they lose all their atmosphere, or all but the heaviest molecules, like CO2. Stripped clean by the solar wind.

The whole notion of positive feedback is ludicrous on it's face. If the earth's climate had positive feedback associated with CO2, it would already be a dead planet. Positive feedback is extremely rare in nature, since it is usually so destructive.

Had we not started on The Great Society and stuck with the space program, we could now have the capability of moving a good deal of our population "off planet" to a stable ring encircling the earth.

When a place gets crowded enough to require ID's, social collapse is not far away. It is time to go elsewhere. The best thing about space travel is that it made it possible to go elsewhere. -- Robert A. Heinlein

What happens when CO2 increases?

See below.

1. Doubling CO2 results in 30% more plant mass per growing season. This is clearly a winner.

2. Less water is used per unit of plant mass. This, too, is clearly a winner.

Doubling CO2 is thus a Win-Win situation.

PS The abovementioned plant/CO2 relationship is well documented in the scientific literature.

PPS The Goron was not wrong, he was lying because he knew about the above facts.

To have any sorta real effect on the climate CO2 would have to be increased to over 2% of all atmospheric gasses, currently it is standing at .003% of the atmosphere by composition.
