MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says officers caught suspected wildlife cop shooter, Christopher Eddy, Friday evening in Melbourne Beach.

Eddy, 23, is suspected of shooting veteran Fish and Wildlife Officer Vann Streety at least six times, during a traffic stop in a rural area in west Cocoa.

Investigators tracked Eddy down in a wooded area on A1A, in Melbourne Beach after he tried to steal a car.

Eddy admitted his crime to Eyewitness News as he was being handcuffed.

“It was just unjust the way they treated me, because they pulled me over and they gave me some traffic tickets,” Eddy said.

The 46-hour manhunt ended when a homeowner called the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office to report Eddy was trying to steal his car.

When deputies caught Eddy, he was hiding in the sand dunes. He surrendered without a fight.

Officer Streety survived the six shots from a large caliber gun, possibly a .45 ...

Guy shot a FL Fish and Wildlife Officer the other day for giving him a ticket. He shot the officer with a "larger caliber pistol" six times. The officer lived. He was wearing a vest. Also a challenge coin in his back pocket stopped one of the bullets. Make sure to check out the website for pics of the challenge coin.

Bad guy

Believe me. I’ve tried. They are in a slideshow. If I could find one standalone I would.

1. You’re not allowed to go around shooting innocent people.
2. I’m very glad the man survived the shooting.
3. I hope the criminal is punished to the full extent of the law.
4. Why is a Fish and Game “Officer” making traffic stops?

Why is a Fish and Game “Officer” making traffic stops?

Because he can?

It is my understanding that the bad guy was in a remote area known for illegal activity. Cop pulled the guy over, gave they guy a citation and the guy didn't like it.

“Cop pulled the guy over”

Is a fish and game guy really a cop? And if he thinks he is, and other people think he is, is that a good thing?

Too much gestapoization going on these days. You could have knocked me over with a feather the first time I heard that some EPA crudbuckets carry guns.

VeniVidiVici,
You are in Florida but few have heard this story.

Few years ago in the stick marsh just west of Fellsmere (actually the headwaters of the St. Johns River),
The head of the Fl Fish and Wildlife was touring the marsh. As his group went around a bend in their airboat they came upon a 12 foot long gator hanging from a tree wearing a F.W.C
cops jacket.
Never figured how or who but funny as can be.

In most states a DNR or wildlife officer has the same powers as the state police.

They can and do enforce all the laws of the state.

Well, he’ll have twenty years to reflect on this. I sincerely hope that after they nail him for shooting the cop, they also prosecute the traffic tickets.

In Oregon F&G officers are State Police officers, they transfer into the F&G section after being on the force for some time. Don’t know exactly how Florida does it.

Just a reminder on how dangerous a liberal is who thinks life is “unfair”. They would be willing to burn you at the stake if that is the only way to cook their marshmallows.
