Running Low on Political Capital, Obama in a Rush to Pass Socialist Medicine
Stop the ACLU ^ | 19 July 09 | John Stephenson

Here is the problem with hope and change. If you throw around empty phrases like this, and build people’s hopes up with high expectations and utopian ideals, things can only go in one direction…anti-climax. This is especially true if the utiopian ideals are built on a platform of flawed logic. Socialism sounds good to people’s hearts, but human nature will never allow it to succeed. Every proposal of “change” Obama is proposing has been built from a foundation of socialist ideas. Common sense tells us that you can’t spend yourself out of debt, but thats what Obama proposed and rushed through Congress to make happen. Its naturally failing. So will his other ideals. He built up hopes and people are finding the anti-climax deflating and hopefully awakening. The poll numbers for Obama’s approval ratings are dropping like a rock, and his political captial is running on empty. But hey, if you build everyone up on empty phrases, what can you expect but empty results? Sadly, Obama still believes in his own illusions. Even his own party is losing hope.

He says it can’t wait! He promises not to sign any healthcare bill that will add to the national deficit, but the small print lets you know he actually means if it adds to the deficit over the next decade. I guess the House should scratch their $239 billion bill. Listen to him below, but keep in mind he is lying. When he tells you that you can keep your own healthcare insurance, know he is lying. The fine print says if you have no insurance you have to go with the government plan. If your insurance company drops you, you can’t shop around and choose your doctor…you have to go with the government plan.

I’m only encouraged his political capital is running out. The way we can can change things is in 2010. We’ve got to get a better advantage in numbers back in the House and Senate.

Socialism sounds good to people’s hearts, but human nature will never allow it to succeed. It's a great deal more than human nature that doesn't alow socialism to succeed, such as economics, geopolitics, ethnic factors, regional differences and demographics.

Those who live by the pop culture sword
Die (politically) by the pop culture sword

Ever notice how fast the younger generations discard those who have fallen out of favor?

What's with this 'we', paleface? :)

haha, I know what you meant, but I'd feel a lot better if the question was reworded to: "My God, this is the best THEY can do???

"Socialism sounds good to people’s hearts, but human nature will never allow it to succeed. "

That's right! Socialism is a union. Socialism is a commune. Socialism is a cult. To make it look like it is "succeeding" it has to be run under a dictatorship in a veil of secrecy to the outside world.

The persons MOST aware that it does NOT work are the citizens who have to live under it. It appears that will soon be the United States if something is not done to curtail this slide downhill to socialism.

You ACORNites write this on the board 1,000 times...."Socialism is not good", "Socialism is not good"....et al

“Here is the problem with hope and change.”

Vacuous slogans, such as “hope and change” are meant to be evocative. People are lead to believe that the candidate spouting those slogans shares their dreams and priorities — although no specific promises were made. That makes vacuous sloganeering a powerful strategy for winning an election.

Unfortunately, the slogans come back to haunt the winning candidate, once in office. No matter which changes are made; those changes aren't what most people were hoping for. Pretty soon, the majority is disappointed; and then downright angry.

Me too. It shouldn't surprise us all that such a shallow boy-child would have such a low reserve of presidential capital. He's spent almost all that he has on these putrid ideas of his, and wasting the remainder with childish, petulant behavior.

So, it wouldn't surprise me that he craft a bailout on himself, so that he could spend an almost infinite amount of additional political capital that he doesn't have and has yet to earn.

Thanks for nothing, ObamaBots. McCain is a silly old fool, but at the very least, he'd conduct himself as an actual adult.

Exactly like I said. Impossible utopian promises can ONLY result in ant-climatic broken, failing promises.

The fine print says if you have no insurance you have to go with the government plan. If your insurance company drops you, you can’t shop around and choose your doctor…you have to go with the government plan. ____________

NEVER in a million years. If that happens, we will shut our home here or rent it and move to our vacation home outside the US where they value human life and I can have my private insurance and choose my own doctors. What's really kind of sad is the stupid people that found a Messiah and thought he was going to change their life forever will be the ones that he hurts the most. Who is going to pay for all of that when the mass exodus from the US happens? If people can afford to take their money elsewhere, they will, and the dumb asses that voted for this whacko nut will be so much worse off. I will be sitting on the beach, fishing, diving and they can sit here unemployed while they stand in line for 2 days waiting to get in to see some shitty doctor.
