Of all the defections in nature— that homosexuality could not possibly be one of them seems odd.

There is no scientific evidence to support the born that way theory and no credible scientist will state otherwise. Science is actually quite hostile to the born that way theory.

What seems odd is some believe homosexuals are born that way but there is nothing on which to base their belief.
