After more than 60 years together, Jimmy Carter has announced himself at odds with the Southern Baptist Church -- and he's decided it's time they go their separate ways. Via Feministing, the former president called the decision "unavoidable" after church leaders prohibited women from being ordained and insisted women be "subservient to their husbands."

arggg... Thats not what they say they say submit not be subservient those are close concepts but not the same. I submit to my boss at work but as a person I am not subservient to him.
They also, like always ignore the commands for a husband to love his wife as Christ loves the church even unto death.

LOL, I was just teaching about husband-wife relations from Colossians 3:18-19 in Sunday School the Sunday before last, and specifically mentioned the fact that there are a lot of people out there who purposefully misrepresent what Christianity teaches about the wife’s submission to her husband to try to cast it in a negative light.

I’m guessing Jimmah is switching to Islam now and switching his name to Mohammed Peanut Farmer.
So instead we ought to cover them from head to toe, take multiple wives and stone them to death for adultery, like his Arab buddies???
But Jimmy must not have much problem with how women are treated in Muslim countries like Iran or how women in Cuba are forced into prostitution with foreign tourists as the only means they have of making ends meet in the worker’s paradise.
I’m a woman and I appreciate the role God created for me in the family and in the church.
It’s nice to not feel like I have to run and manage EVERYTHING on this planet. Some women my age think I’m old fashioned, but actually I think I’m pretty cool.

The author of this article appears to be very careless. Carter says he left the SBC “after 60 years.” Nowhere in his opinion piece does he say WHEN the leaving took place.
Carter was born in 1924. So if he was baptised at around age 12 — like most SBC members from Georgia — then he probably left the church at around age 72, or some twelve years ago.
Apparently, Carter’s departure from the SBC was about as empty as Alec Baldwin’s emigration from the US in 2000 if W were elected President.
That’s that thing about liberals, they never really go away when they say they will.
