RICHMOND, Va. A billionaire co-founder of the Black Entertainment Television network who is also a key Democratic donor has endorsed Republican Bob McDonnell for Virginia governor.
Sheila Johnson joined McDonnell at a Monday appearance in Richmond. She says she thinks the Republican can turn around the state's sluggish economy and prefers him over his Democratic opponent, R. Creigh Deeds.
Deeds' campaign did not immediately return a message seeking comment.
Johnson and her former husband, Robert Johnson, sold BET in 2000 to Viacom for $3 billion. She backed Barack Obama for president, but has given some money to GOP candidates in the past though most of her support has gone to Democrats.

Interesting. McDonnell has garnered a crazy head of steam lately, and he was trailing after Deeds won his primary. This election will be the first election I’ve ever voted in...at 31 years of age. Pretty pathetic, but better late than never, right?
but doesn't he know republicans are racist/s
I wouldn’t take this Chicago player at face value

Oh no, she di’int!
I want her to pay her “fair share” of ObamaCare. Tax her $3B at 75%. As if she can’t live on $750M.
You have never voted? You didn't vote in the recent presidential election?
Sheila probably heard Boxer’s disgusting...(yes, it’s an oxymoron)...lecture to the representative from the Black Chamber of Commerce.
Blacks’ need to wake up! If I were Black I wouldn’t be with the Party that protested against the Emancipation Proclamation, founded the KKK, turned on the water cannons/dogs, ect. Noooo way.
Nope, sure didn’t. I could smell the carrion from the McCain campaign days out, I knew it was over. That’s not an excuse, though. The republic itself is under assault, and I didn’t even get out and throw a stupid ballot. I take responsibility for that, no excuses.
Corin, for the VA ping list
I’m glad that you’re not making excuses. Too bad you didn’t get out and vote McCain. If more people had, we wouldn’t have Obama. I’d rather not succeed than not be a part of the attempt.
I fail to see a downside in this. Would this make Black or White Republicans not vote for McDonnell? I don’t think so, but it may make some Democrats switch. In my view, the very worst that could happen would be this would have no effect, and the potential for picking up at least some votes is there. Am I missing something?
What happened in ‘04?
Just vote 13 times to catch up. :-)

31 is not that old. You will have a lot more to vote in.
2nd of two threads pingage.
(and my bad for pinging you twice to the other thread)
I think you’re missing the fact that where her money (and vote) goes...others will follow...
Will this make the GOP the party of African Americans? Hardly. But coming on the day that Deeds announced his “financial plan” (which is Porkulus-Lite) it’s a pretty major deal.
Couple that with the fact that she’s a big time supporter of the Eyebrow and this is also a slap at the DNC.
I was taught all my life that Republicans were racist. Surely this article is from the Onion (sarc/).
