BILOXI, MISS. -- Democratic governors on Monday softened their opposition to health care legislation being championed by Democrats in Washington after accusing staff at the National Governors Association meeting of misleading them on the costs of the reforms.

"Yesterday the NGA staff gave us some information that was not exactly correct so we're working through to find out what the real numbers are," Montana Gov. Brian Schweitzer told FOX News on Monday. "Currently the House version does not shift any liability to the states. If that's the version that's ultimately passed, well be happy with it."
"Once Kathleen Sebelius talked with the governors we came to understand that we were given bad information by NGA staff," added Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley.
O'Malley said that according to the House bill, "The federal government has not shifted cost. The federal government is taking care of its obligations. Which was really good news for the governors. Whatever fears were around this place because of bad information we got from the NGA, that's greatly dissipated."
NGA staff did not respond to a request for comment on the accusation aides had misled the chief executives.
Despite Sebelius' alleviating some of the governors' concerns, others said her description relies only on the bill in the House of Representatives, and they remain wary of the final outcome once it leaves the Senate.
"That's the message that is being sent: Please work within the House frame of Congress being able to take care of that within the confines of the federal budget and not putting it on the back of state budgets,"

Ya think?
"Rahm Emmanuel called. We now understand the importance of supporting The President."
Poor democrats someone is always misleading them.
Bingo. “You will obey” is the clear message from Hussein.
Boy you’re not kidding! For those claiming to be so brilliant, they sure are duped again and again.
O’Malley is angry that Democrats were lied to by other Democrats, that’s rich. As for Rahm, who fears him, I think he’s a joke. Why doesn’t someone ask Rahm how Fitzgerald’s investigation is going on, especially in relation to his 21 recorded calls to the governor’s office?
The only way Democrats will stand up against the abomination that is ObamaCare is if they are more afraid of you than the are of their leadership. So call their offices and let them know the awful fate that awaits them if they support ObamaCare. Yep...threaten them with tossing them out of office, which is viewed as a fate worse than death by most Democrats.
Most Blue-Dog Democrats should be re-named Blue-Ball democrats because they dont use what god gave them.
Can anyone explain to me why this has to be decided in weeks . . . when it won’t be effective for years?
Thanks.
Please let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Hey, do NOT underestimate Rahm. (No Sarcasm)
He may be a pip-squeak to you and me, and we could probably break him in two, but physical confrontation is not where he excels.
Rahm can break people politically. He has the stamina to wear someone down, the connections to make innuendo stick (i.e., Stephanopoulos), and he holds grudges like a champ.
There is nothing that a politician fears more than loss of office. And Rahm can hit where it hurts for these governors.
The fix is being put back in.
