Walter Cronkite Without Tears
IBD Editorials ^ | July 20, 2009 | INVESTORS BUSINESS DAILY Staff

Journalism: After the eulogies, the fact remains that "the most trusted man in America" betrayed that trust. He helped snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Vietnam and tried hard to do the same in Iraq.

President Obama on Friday praised Walter Cronkite as a journalistic icon, calling the CBS anchor the "voice of certainty in an uncertain world." More to the point, he was the father of advocacy journalism, the patron saint of media bias. He went from reporting news to recreating it in his own image.

Far from the image of the patriotic war correspondent, Cronkite was a World Federalist who couldn't wait for what was called "the American Century" to end.

In a profile by Newsday TV writer Verne Gay in the Jan. 21, 1996, issue of Los Angeles Times Magazine, Cronkite spoke of his dream for America. "We may have to find some marvelous middle ground between capitalism and communism," Gay quotes Cronkite as saying.

Let's call it socialism, and Cronkite at least lived long enough to see it unfolding before his eyes and ours.

Cronkite said that for the United States "the first priority of the new order must be a revision of the educational system to . . . guarantee that each of our citizens will have equal resources to share in the decisions of the democracy, and a fair share of the economic pie."

This from a man who made $700,000.00 per year in 1969........

There is no doubt that Cronkite was an anti-American left wing liberal socialist and a hypocrite beyond belief belief. The man is one the main reasons we lost our will to fight and win the Vietnam war. That war was not lost in the jungles of Vietnam but on the broadcast of CBS evening news by Cronkite and on the front pages of the New York Times.

All left wing socialists liberals are shockingly hypocrites and Cronkite was no different. They, the socialists elite, want to have 99.9% of the wealth and 100% of the power but for us the peasants they want us to share the 0.01% of the left over wealth i.e. we the peasants will live equally poor.

Have you met a left wing liberal who does not worship money and wants to make a lot of it? I have not.

Walter Cronkite is another one who had better have a VERY good drainage system around his grave site as there are millions of Viet Nam vests who are waiting patiently to water the flora an fauna in that immediate vicinity!

Near as I can make it, the Cronkite family has four generations with no military service. They compete with the Romney family in that distinction.

Kaslin, thank you for posting this.

On the occasion of the death of Walter Cronkite, I would urge all Freepers to view the linked video at the thread below at post #3 by freeper Wolverine. (The thread was started by shrinkermd, and I would like to thank both of them for posting this.)

The Lies of Tet

This should be required viewing for ALL Americans, as it is factual in nature, impossible to refute, and extremely illustrative of the dangers of biased reporting.

Many people are completely unaware of this, as they are also unaware of "Uncle Walter's" promotion and support for a one world government and a loss of American sovereignty...which he expressly states with NO equivocation or room for misinterpretation. See the following link:

Walter Cronkite Promoted a World Government-1999 Speech

I had a discussion today with a very left wing liberal and the reason he wants socialist health care is that he stupidly thinks that his employer will give the extra money difference if he switches him to the socialist health care plan which he admits that it is a very bad quality plan but for him it is worth taking it because he will get thousands of dollars more form his employer for the difference money between his current private health care plan and the socialized health care.

I told him that first of all you are going to pay thousands of dollars more in taxes for this crappy socialized health care and second your employer like all employers are not going to reimburse you the money they save by switching from private health insurance to socialized health care.

You can always count on IBD to shine the light of truth. I’ll be more blunt than them - - Cronkite was a bloated scumbag who has the blood of thousands of American servicemen on his dead hands. Even in his final years of fading into dementia Cronkite hated America, promoting socialism and joining fellow rats like Harry Reid in declaring Iraq a lost cause. Good riddance, Cronkite, you sick scumbag.

Here is another.

http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Camp/7624/Generals/giap.htm

***By 1968, NVA morale was at it’s lowest point ever. The plans for “Tet” ‘68 was their last desperate attempt to achieve a success, in an effort to boost the NVA morale. When it was over, General Giap and the NVA viewed the Tet ‘68 offensive as a failure, they were on their knees and had prepared to negotiate a surrender.

At that time, there were fewer than 10,000 U.S. casualties, the Vietnam War was about to end, as the NVA was prepared to accept their defeat. Then, they heard Walter Cronkite (former CBS News anchor and correspondent) on TV proclaiming the success of the Tet ‘68 offensive by the communist NVA.***

You are correct...as far as you went.

But, just as the individual will pay thousands in taxes to subsidize the "cheap" government option, his employer will also pay thousands in taxes per employee to subsidize the "cheap" government option.

Nobody wins with national health care. Except Obama and the Democrat party.

a fair share of the economic pie

Is whatever you are able to work for and earn, either by your direct labor, or by running a business. Either way, under a capitalist system you have to serve your fellow man in a way that benefits him in order to earn your way. Those who serve their fellow man in the most beneficial ways earn the most. Forcing "fairness" for those who aren't willing to serve their fellow man cheats those of us who are willing to serve others.

Capitalism is a very simple system when you look at it that way, and a very fair system. Why lefties are too stupid to get it is a source of never ending amazement to me.
