She dumped him months ago. They were separated when he went to Argentina.

Just a couple months ago, “Sanford/Palin 2012” was a common writing here. How things have changed in so short a time.

I don’t know what pisses me off more — a serial creep like Clinton who screws around repeatedly, knowing nothing will happen to his political career, or a so-called “family values” type like Sanford who thinks he can slide by in a tryst without being detected.

Thank goodness nothing is important going on in Washington, D.C., so that the media can focus on important stuff like this...

Though he is not Presidential timber, I do believe the next Republican President should appoint Sanford Secretary of State. He is the GOP expert on foreign affairs.

>So to see a wealthy, successful man like Mark Sanford so in love that he would do so— gives me hope

Mel Gibson's divorce
will cost him half a billion!
And for a re-tread!

Interesting post. One thing is for sure...this isn’t your usual sordid affair. It’s pretty evident that he fell in love with this woman and struggled with it for months.

Apparently, his wife giving him the boot made up his mind. It must have been tough though, everyone that knows him knows he loves his family. He had to have an idea of the consequences when it was found out. It is always found out!

Love hurts...oh well.

If he were married to my wife, he wouldn’t have that finger.

If the SOB were married to my wife he'd be without a di*k, or he'd be dead.(or both)

I was hoping (before this scandal) that Mark Sanford would run for President. As all this has unfolded, it's become clear that he is entirely without honor and may be mentally unstable.

Rambling press conferences where he talks about his love affair, reports that he asked his wife to go see his mistress, and being absent for days on end, even lying to his staff about where he was... all this points to Sanford being unfit for any job that had him representing and protecting the American people. He can't even manage to protect his own interests, or those of his children or his wife.

Mark Sanford has no business being in a position of leadership or trust for many, many years, possible ever.

Sanford is sharp, no doubt, but I don't agree he should be nominated to any national-level capacity for a while. His horn-dog behavior would be an instant source of embarrassment for a Republican administration (note I said "Republican," because that type of activity is added points for the dems). My first choice for SecState would be John Bolton.
