The original tapes were “lost”. Funny how the stuff from D-day survived - and pictures of the Hindenburg blowing up - and even workers on some of the early skyscrapers. But man landing on the moon? Nope, someone threw the tape in a closet and it got thrown out. Sorry - on this one, I'm with Whoopie.

Not to mention the auto industry, the banking industry, the insurance industry and probably just about any or all activities American's wish to engage in. Imagine what these would-be Federal Government people supervisors could lose then.

Parenthetically- Robert Capa’s best work, captured under fire at Omaha Beach on D-Day, was accidentally destroyed by a technician in processing.
