A Lie We Can't Ignore...
July 21st, 2009 | Michael J. McFadden

I have completely avoided anything that might be seen as "Obama bashing" up to this point, although I have been heavily critical of his SCHIP tax. I've been very unhappy with how much thinly veiled racism I've seen from all sorts of folks disagreeing with him on all sorts of policies and have wanted no part of it or any appearance of supporting it. That has not changed.

But, breaking campaign promises is one thing. Even when they are broken blatantly and without apologies.

Lying is something else entirely.

President Obama clearly, without ANY doubt or quibbling whatsoever, blatantly lied to the cameras this morning on the Today show and NO ONE seems to be raising the issue.

Obama said, and I quote exactly as you can see in the original clip of the Today Show interview with Meredith Vieira:

"The only tax change I've made in the 6 months I've been here is to cut people's taxes."

He said that - despite the clear and recorded fact that he raised cigarette pack taxes by 150% and raised the tax on one of the poorest well-defined minority groups in the country, smokers so poor they roll their own from shreds of tobacco and scraps of paper by OVER TWO THOUSAND PERCENT (from $1/lb to $24/lb). Note: this minority group averages well under $25,000 a year in income... not over $250,000 per year.

He said that, and Meredith didn't even wince, much less even TRY to pretend to be a journalist and ask him about it.

And in all the postings I've seen on the internet today, no one else seems to give it any importance either.

He **LIED** - no waffling, no minor prevarication, no slight mis-slip-of-the-tongue, he LIED just as blatantly as if Bush had said "We've set up no holding facilities for terrorists offshore." and no one seems to be calling him on it. Smokers seem to have been now officially relegated to the status of unpersons, of vermin that do not even need to be acknowledged to exist as citizens of America.

I have news for Mr. Obama. We are NOT unpersons. We are NOT vermin. We are Americans and we will NOT tolerate being erased.

Mr. McFadden's problem is his assumption that criticism of Obama is 'thinly veiled racism'. I could just as easily contend that the slobbering adulation of him is reverse racism on the part of white media folks trying to work off their liberal white guilt.

The biggest racist in this relationship is Barack Obama himself. He injects race into everything he does.
Every Obama initiative is a thinly veiled slap at white America on the one hand, and race based wealth redistribution, favoritism and handouts for minorities on the other.

Heh... “moonbat.” Good one. :)

Berry, VERY nice list. The problem with long lists of lies though is that the opposition can shrug them off with “Oh, he’s just complaining about EVERYTHING!” or “Most of them are inconsequential and don’t reflect on the important political issues of today.”and then pick out a couple of the weakest to quibble with. What was notable about the Today Show interview was that it was brief, seen by a very large audience, and the lie was completely clear: No one can argue that the SCHIP tax doesn’t exist, and no one can argue that Obama didn’t make that particular statement when it’s freely available for a quick view right on the web. The possible defense mentioned of “Oh, I meant *income* tax!” would be too weak to make: it would lose him more points than it would gain.

I have no illusions about the honesty of politicians, left or right. But they’re usually pretty good at covering their butts. Obama left his hanging out high and dry with that statement this morning.

#__ I never protected the killing of born alive infants. LIAR. On at least three occasions while a state senator in Illinois, you worked hard to prevent the passage of bills to mandate medical help for babies born alive in failed abortions ... actually, he worked on four occasions to protect the killing of alive unborn children using a heinous method called ‘induced labor abortion’ which targets alive unborn children, forcing these children to be born so prematurely that they are not expected to survive in the air world, and you were successful in this assistance to murder even though the children sometimes took as long as eight hours struggling to breath before expiring unattended, alone. Barry Soetoro, you're a damned ghoul, a thoroughly wicked man with the murder of children on your devilish hands.
