Outgoing Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin may have violated state ethics laws by letting supporters set up a legal defense fund to help her battle ethics complaints, a preliminary report on the issue has found. Sarah Palin's attorney says the report is not final, and he is preparing more information for the investigator. An investigator hired by the state personnel board recommended Palin -- who gives up her office on Sunday -- refuse money from the defense fund and ask the state to pay legal fees for ethics complaints that have been dismissed. Palin attorney Thomas Van Flein said the report is not final, however, and he is preparing "supplemental information" for the investigator. Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, cited the cost of battling ethics complaints from her critics as one of the reasons she is giving up her office about two-thirds of the way through her term. Most complaints have been dismissed, though one led to her paying back taxes on state per diem funds, and she agreed to repay about $8,100 in travel expenses for her children in another case.

We have heard the name of Kim Chatman before. She joined a frivolous lawsuit with publicity-seeker Gregory Charles Royal -- the same individual who was making claims during the 2008 campaign that a married Sarah Palin, pregnant at the time, wouldn't have sex him just because he was African-American:

More Kim Chatman...
It goes on and on and on and on and on and on ... but Sarah will have the last laugh.
I’ve read this story from a number of diff’t sources and it still makes no sense.
Remember the name:
Kim Chatman
She has been a party to most of the junk lawsuits against Palin.
Just wait ... after she leaves office, they’ll find reasons for civil suits.
I don’t have the pic, but I will say the line: “Oh geez, not this s#*t again!”
Why doesn’t someone start up a bunch of ethics violations against Reid, Pelosi etc. If Palin had manipulated the system like Pelosi did for her tuna comapny, she’d be toast.
Despite Thomas Daniel's Dem ties to Obama, he is a partner in a large national firm. I would be surprised if he leaked this. He has investigated other Palin ethics charges that were dismissed without them being leaked.
That leaves the filer, Kim Chatman. She's got to be the leaker. She's been quoted in the articles. A copy of this document is being passed around the Alaska moonbat websites like Mudflats.
“An investigator hired by the state personnel board recommended Palin ...refuse money from the defense fund and ask the state to pay legal fees for ethics complaints that have been dismissed.” ?!?
Why doesn’t he ask Alaskans if they want to foot the bill for defending this BS?
Remind me again, HOW MUCH did Barack Obama agree to repay so that his wife and kids could fly separately from him on the BACK-UP 747 when they took their European vacation???????

Another POS story. It’s alright for the dims to steal you blind; but it’s not alright for this woman to defend herself against false accusations.
Just wait until she is POTUS.
She has already been caught in a couple of leaks...
So why is no prosecutor feeling the need to “have to enforce the law, whether they like it or not” when it comes to Kim Chatman?
This is all such a shame, that the people of Alaska will have to pay the costs of this PDS vendetta that targets the finances of the Gvernor’s family.
Is there any way this defense fund (or another set up aftyer she resigns) can be used for her legal fees after she resigns from office? Many private citizens receive voluntary funds from other citizens to handle expenses which the public wants to help them with. I know I would donate.
Dunno, but I did notice that Van Flein said in his statement that authorities would be notified about this unauthorized disclosure.
If she has to give back the money the defense fund made, that’s fine, we will all take that money and put it into her SarahPac. I am sick and tired to see what this country has become. And I thought Jimmy Carter was bad, he was a saint compared to this nut we have in the White House. He is destroying this country piece by piece and he is targeting ANYONE who wants to stand up and fight for this country. I knew this crap was coming from the top, Obama probably gets briefed everyday on what to do next to bring down Sarah Palin, think that’s crazy, it’s not, straight out of Alinsky’s handbook, remember the poll yesterday showing Sarah within SIX of Obama, I bet you the Dems have a poll showing she is closer then that or maybe even ahead of him. That is why they are doing this
Here's the pic!

Your links are bad.
“So why is no prosecutor feeling the need to have to enforce the law, whether they like it or not when it comes to Kim Chatman?”
How about Sarah’s attorney filing a civil suit upon chatman (once Sarah becomes a civilian) for defamation, harrassement, slander, etc?......how does subpoena power, discovery and chatman deposition under oath sound? See, this chatman creature will provide open doors to Royal and others in chatmans reportoire....
BTTT
I will bet you they are getting help from the RAT leadership to file these.
As a private citizen, I hope Sarah sues all of these liberals filing bogus ethics complaints.
April 27th, 2009
Kim Chatman, 49, of Eagle River filed the complaint with the attorney general’s office, seeking an investigation by the state personnel board for violations of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.
Chatman claims Palin, the former Republican vice presidential candidate, is misusing the governor’s office for personal gain by securing unwarranted benefits and receiving improper gifts.
“Gov. Palin is perched to improperly receive an enormous amount of money for herself and her family and position a pool of pre-paid defense lawyers organized to deflect consequences of wrongdoings,” the complaint says.

Nice to see even when she’s out of office she is popular, AND ESPECIALLY STILL A THREAT TO THESE PARASITES! You go girl!

2012: Obama 48 Palin 42. Wasn’t Obama’s glow supposed to last forever and ever?
Get this idiot some mental help because she needs a net thrown over her! How can she keep filing frivolous lawsuits without being held accountable herself?!
******
"First off, I find it offensive that they're calling it the Alaska Fund Trust," Kim Chatman said. "It is deceptive, misleading and has absolutely nothing to do with either trust or Alaska ."
Chatman believes that Gov. Palin's legal bills are the direct result of Gov. Palin's actions. "It's time for her to accept responsibility for the manner in which she decided to handle the legislative council investigation." Chatman says. "She could have cooperated like she promised. Instead, Governor Palin chose to fight it and incur legal bills."
Chatman has further concerns. "With 20 months remaining in the governor's term, this contrived money scheme leaves a lot of room for people to buy favors from Palin and her cronies," Chatman says. "And what about all these other state officials involved in this plot. Aren't they in violation of the Ethics Act too?"
Wait a second, according to Chapman, Sarah has cronies, who knew. I’d love to be one of Sarah’s cronies, I’d hunt these pricks down and knock em out. These “women” who file these complaints, they are either unemployed, or suffering from some sort of mental illness. That is why the Dems target them and use them to do this, because they find the ones who are obviously nuts, give them some cash, and the rest as they say is history. Just follow the money trail, these loons are too stupid to come up with this on their own
I think I figured it out!
The stimulus money is spent on lawyers dreaming up ethics charges to be filed by third “useful idiot” parties
I am astonished that no one among Governor Palin’s wide circle of friends in Alaska or elsewhere has refrained from inflicting terrible harm on these people for this level of harassment....I’m not recommending anything but lawful and legal action of course...just expressing my amazement at the restraint being shown.
"All options are open in terms of legal remedies. It is a clear violation of Alaska law that Mr. Daniel explicitly reviewed with Ms. Chatman prior to her illegal actions. We will be contacting the appropriate authorities for review and action."Via Conservatives4Palin.comThomas Van Flein Private Attorney for Sarah Palin
It should be noted that the report states that it is not to be made public unless Gov. Palin grants a waiver. She didn’t grant the waiver, but Chatman released it any way. I would think that that would be an actionable offense by Gov. Palin once she leaves office. Sue Chatman for $1 million.
If you read the report you will see that the guy who wrote it tied himself all in knots trying to find that the fund was unethical. Rambling on about gifts of $150 or less don’t need to be reported, but because the total was more than $150 it has to be reported, that’s crap. He also rambled on about how a private citizen would not be able to raise funds for legal defense, because they aren’t known, that’s BS, I’ve seen lots of private citizens raising money for legal defense, and they get it too. The clincher is that he says Palin should reject the money, close down the fund, but don’t bother to take it to the Personnel Board. What a crock. This a$$hole knows that the Personnel Board may very well rule that there is no ethics violations.
Oh, BTW, the guy who did the report represents Organizing America, the 0bama front group, and his wife is a big shot in the dem party. That in itself sounds unethical that anyone clearly representing 0bama’s interest having anything to do with making a ruling about anyting Palin does.
Good.
It is time to turn the tables on Chatman and let her pay for her ACTUAL offenses and law-breaking, as opposed to sarah Palin continuing to pay for non-offenses andd junk lawsuits filed by Chatman.
This attorney had BETTER go on offense as such.
Bottom line is that the State AG says the state won’t defend the Governor against charges that she violated the State ethics act.
And the establishment of a legal defense fund violates the ethics act because payment of legal fees to defend those charges is a “gift” to the Governor as “gift” is defined in the ethics act.
The state won’t defend her and donations to a fund to defend her are violations of the act also. Therefore she must pay lawyers fees out of Palin personal monies.
Obama’s brownshirts have her boxed in nicely, unfortunately.

Palin PING!
Anyone on or off the Palin ping, write me.
Some interesting info posted on C4P..
If you google Perkins Coie Obama, you will find some intriguing articles. The law firm, with major offices in Chicago, Washington and other locations (including China), was the general counsel for Obama’s Presidential campaign and the legal counsel for Obama for America, the not-for-profit Political Action Committee.
According to the Federal Election Commission, Obama paid Perkins Coie $668,000 between January and March 2009, and $378,000 between October 16 and December 31, 2008.
The firm has been heavily involved in Obama’s citizenship eligibility issues (including the Philip Berg case), even threatening plaintiffs not to take further action or they would come after them.
Perkins Coie also represented the Guantanamo Bay prisoner alleged to be Osama Bin Laden’s personal driver, in which the court recently ruled that the military tribunals established at Guantanamo Bay under Bush/Cheney were illegal.
On the Democratic political front, the law firm was the main counsel for Sen. John Kerry’s campaign for President in 2004 and for Sen. Christopher Dodd’s ill-fated primary campaign in 2008.
With the faulty logic and questionable recommendations applied by attorney Thomas Daniel to this opinion for the Alaska Personnel Board, it really makes one wonder if this is actually the “smoking gun” connecting the Obama/Emanuel/Axelrod machine in Chicago and Washington to faraway Anchorage, Alaska.
In addition to a lack of common sense in his opinion, Daniel’s possible actions of releasing the “confidential” document to Kim Chatman is a violation of the law.
I hope Governor Palin and her attorney take this as far as they can because the thread may unravel to reveal some very interesting, influential connections!
Basically what they wanted was to take away all of the money the defense fund made, so that Sarah can’t accept it. That way she has to spend the money out of pocket in order to defend herself against this BS. They will continue filing bogus ethics complaints against her. But as a private citizen, she CAN collect money. We will make a defend fund for her and raise double of what she made(speculation is that she already raised more then 500,000 which must have ticked off the loons on the left) and she can collect the money. It is totally legal. At the end, Sarah will have the last laugh, we will fix the Republican party, and we will take back the House and Senate in 2010, then in 2012, we take back the White House!

Royal first appeared in the public eye in relation to Palin through the graces of Toronto-based blogger Charley James. You may remember James - a week after Palin's selection as the GOP VP candidate, James published an anonymously-sourced hit piece making the explicit claim that Governor Palin was a racist -- most memorable for a ridiculous claim, "sourced" to an anonymous waitress named "Lucille", that Palin had said "So Sambo beat the bitch!" when finding out that Barack Obama had prevailed over Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primary.
This is the part that is fascinating me about this latest complaint and could be both the smoking gun and Obama or his minions got too cocky and maybe, just maybe got caught orchestrating all these complaints... isn’t Coale Greta’s husband? He issued a statement today and isn’t happy about this particular complaint, this could make a quick transition to Fox news...or am I wishfully thinking.
....Don't be surprised if there are some Republicans behind this also.
...What a woman...
I asked myself “would Obama be so stupid as to go after her in a traceable manner?” then I remembered how he became senator in first place — remember what he did to Ryan? and I said “silly me, OF COURSE he would, he has always gotten away with doing things the Chicago way, a tiger doesn’t change his stripes. Problem is the rest of the country isn’t Illinois and Sarah isn’t Jack Ryan.
I sign HJR28 Oppose Restricting Oil/Gas Devlp;we urge President to promote US resource devlp.Pretty simple, Mr.President & Congress:choose safe clean American energy&jobs or force our reliance on foreign countries;what more to ponder,oh wise Washington? Where's DC's common sense?
