LITTLE EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. — When word got out that Mr. McBeth, a popular substitute teacher at two southern New Jersey school districts was about to come back to class as Miss McBeth, it caused an uproar.
The former William McBeth had undergone sex reassignment surgery and was now Lily McBeth. The schools' 2006 decisions to keep her on as a substitute were hailed around the nation as a model of tolerance and acceptance of transgender Americans.
But the storybook ending never happened: She got only a handful of assignments since then and is resigning in frustration.

The article is somewhat dishonest. He's not a teacher, he's a substitute teacher, and IMO, 75 is well past the age where someone could adequately handle a classroomful of kids.
Besides, it's not like he got a lot of days anyways, and I know subs who are pulled of the list for other reasons or no reason at all.
Subs do not have job security and if the teachers don't like the job the sub is doing, they'll ask to not have them.
This guy is likely just trying to make a martyr of himself.
And really, a sex change mutilation at 75? Come on now.
Everybody has to live in the real world, including transsexuals. All substitute teachers have plenty of trouble maintaining order in a classroom and getting the kids to focus on doing any work. No way is ANY work going to get done in any class, on a day when a transsexual substitute teacher shows up. This is reality. Kids will be kids. He/She should have thought this through before making the switch. If he/she felt the switch was really essential, then getting a new career plan lined up needed to be part of the switching process.
IMO McBeth is a drama queen. I know I wouldn’t want McBeth teaching my daughter & at 75 yrs old I think it is time to retire. I am so happy I home school.
Well, DUH! Like there's a huge demand for she-he's classes? There's no way on God's green Earth I'd let my kid take a class from one of these lowest-of-the-low perverts.

In many states, the principal selects the substitutes they want. I doubt many wanted the grief they would endure if this person was hired.

The fact that they do this kind of surgery at all is beyond me. Really we all know it is just for money. Years ago this man and others like him would have been put in a Nervous Hospital, now they make money of his kind by doing this surgery. Age? Who cares? He/she wants it done and will pay. No more Nervous Hospital stays, we can’t lock them up so they pay to have their body cut up.
