The French Army were branded imbeciles today after an artillery exercise caused a massive fire which destroyed dozens of houses and left hundreds homeless.
Rather than improving the marksmanship of the Foreign Legion, the shelling led to mass evacuations in a suburb of Marseilles.

Finishing the job the “yutes” only started?

Hi Tax chick.
Saw a great bumper sticker on the net yesterday -
“Work harder, Obama need the money!”
That’ll leave a mark
I was wondering. Isn’t that town where all the unrest started some time ago?
Good one! Where’s *my* European vacation, anyway?
Smokey the Bear says , dont fire artillery shells when the forest is dry.
Only YOU can prevent forest fires.
Inspector Clouseau must be doing his two week summer reserve training.
I was under the impression that the French Foreign Legion was not supposed to ever enter France proper. I guess I was mistaken.
As a former US Army artillery officer, I’m going to step out a bit on this one:
You wouldn’t believe that number of fires that are caused annually on US artillery ranges. In some months, Ft. Sill (the home of US artillery and the training ground for the best artillerymen in the world) has to almost completely suspend live-fire training.
You don’t have to “shoot out” to start a fire that gets out of control.
Usually, the base commander plays it extra safe and suspends firing if there’s a hint that the grass is dry. Sometimes, you just get “lucky” and find that perfect dry patch.
Just sayin’.
