Senate GOP leaders worry that some of their colleagues are misplaying their hand on health care reform by suggesting that they want to kill the plan in order to hurt the president. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said last week that, if Republicans are able to stop Barack Obama on health care, “it will be his Waterloo, it will break him.”

Attacking Bush seemed to work for the Democrats...of course Bush rarely fought back. Obama will scream about every attack.

Oh, that’s right! Don’t you all remember, when lefties all over DC were excoriating W every day of his 2 terms, wishin’ and a-hopin’ for his failure, declaring it, while the MSM harrumphed dutifully and nodded knowingly — don’t you remember how it was Democrat Senate leaders who told them to cut it out? Remember? /sarc

The term Waterloo is great. We still have other battles to fight against this guy and a big victory on this may also impact the other battles.
Warn your local congresscritter that you not only vote against them,,but contribute against them.
Pelosi is offering them big bucks to sign on..your bucks.

Distraction is correct:

“It makes people in the country realize that these guys are the party of no,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), who sits on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

“A major part of the Republican Party just doesn’t want Barack Obama to succeed.”

I don’t know about GOP leaders. I don’t want to kill the bill because it will “hurt the president”. I want to kill the bill because it is bad for the country. If the clown who claims to be the president (no proof of natural born status) is hurt in the process, so much the better.

You got that right. In my mind, Jim DeMint is THE Senate GOP leader.

And not only that, his comments fit nicely with the truth behind it as pointed out by Senator Grassley:

"Let's just lay everything on the table," Grassley said. "A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn't going to pass if there weren't some changes made ... and the president says, 'You're going to destroy my presidency.' "

Meanwhile, the person/people in the WH terrorizes the people every damn day. Apparently with impunity. Even a Secret Service agent was so offended by 0bama family comments that he asked 0bama to be reassigned.

Since when did the Politico ever report anything?
This is damage control spin trying to make the GOP look bad.
Whenever they want to interfere with effective messaging by the GOP they always find ‘unnamed sources’, ‘staffers in the know’, and ‘party leaders’ to semi-quote.

What the communist media is fire hosing out to the public…

“If we’re able to stop Obama on this it will be his Waterloo. It will break him.”

Here is what the liberal communist media cut out...

And we will show that we can, along with the American people, begin to push those Freedom solutions that work in every area of our society."

Communist agenda MSM does not want you to realize there is a common sense solution on this issue that does NOT entail economic slavery.

They want to throw a "poor Øbama" pity party.

To hell with that.

I will certainly say it wouldn't have been my choice of words, but given the fact that DeMint and Talent (for the years Talent was there), fought hard and long, introduced bill after bill to try to draw the Congress into a debate of the failures of our health care system. Whenever Pubbies would try to wring the waste out of Medicare (and there's a truckload of that), they would be roundly denounced as trying to kill off granny. I understand his frustration (especially since then Senator Obama voted against DeMint’s health care reform).

It's hard to watch as this horrific piece of crap legislation is actually being debated and pushed after all the years of head banging DeMint, Talent and others similarly motivated underwent.

How about Medical Savings Accounts? Republicans came up with this idea, one of the great selling points (I thought) was the catastrophic portion that would cover a person who found himself in a situation where he needed expensive care, surgery, chemo, etc., but his personal bank account didn't cover it. In a way, wasn't that government health/emergency insurance? Anyhoo, you're correct, Dems shot down any and all efforts to correct the ills in the system time and time again, my contention is that first, they would not have received the credit and second, it didn't go far enough to garnering control over the lives of Americans.
