Bill Cosby ’shocked’ at Obama’s statement on Harvard prof’s arrest
Christian Science Monitor ^ | July 22, 2009 | Jimmy Orr

Posted on 07/23/2009 12:24:26 PM PDT by RobinMasters

On a Boston radio program this morning, Bill Cosby suggested that President Obama spoke too soon on the controversial arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates.

“I’ve heard about five different reports [on the details of the arrest],” Cosby said on Boston’s WZLX. “If I’m the president of the United States, I don’t care how much pressure people want to put on it about race, I’m keeping my mouth shut.”

“I was shocked to hear the president making this kind of statement,” Cosby said referring to the president’s remarks during last night’s press conference.

The comedian appeared to have dialed his comments back a bit in a later interview on Boston’s FOX 25 television station. Cosby cautioned those from coming up with their own conclusions, but gave the president some leeway.

“People who have not been there, people who don’t know are beginning to have their own personal feelings, but they weren’t there,” Cosby said.

Nope. There will be a slew of "this is the sort of dialog the Nation needs to have regarding race" stories.

Chances are, Zero actually held back last night about his true feelings. This is the man who was brought up to "respect" the law by none other than William Ayers.

And of course there is the still unsustantiated rumor that Zero fired one of his security detail over a complaint about overhearing "gripes about a certain demographic" by the Obama Family.

Not an exact parallel, but waaaaaay back, Richard Nixon had made some remarks about how the press was handling the Manson case while it was still open, which caused quite the uproar. While the charges have been dismissed here, the officer (and by extension the department) now, for all intents and purposes, stand accused, and will no doubt be the subject of inquiries and investigations.

O should be roundly castigated by the press and public for his uninformed remarks.

Yes, and the best aspect of this is that this one remark has drawn so much attention that his attempt to close the healthcare deal has been seriously wounded. Talk about going off message.

Sorry, Bill. I guess I have no idea. I just spent most my childhood hearing someone yell, "Get the Kike!" before 3 or 4 or 5 jumped on me and beat me up, sometimes leaving me unconscious by the roadside. Of course, only an African-American could EVER have any idea what bigotry is like.

You all have to see this:

Turns out the arresting officer is a racial profiling expert, hand picked by his African-American chief for the position.

To paraphrase the president:

It's a fact that afroamericans and latina's are arrested in disproportionately high numbers.

Not only did he call the arresting officer stupid, but he labeled EVERY police department in this country as "Racist"

Did you notice that he spoke without a teleprompter when he said those mean spirited things?

I thought I was the only person who remembered this. It was at a press conference and he said that these folks had committed murder, leaving out the good ole ‘allegedly.’ There were calls to dismiss the charges because of the prejudicial remarks. Considering what they had done, the calls didn’t get much traction.
I believe the next day of the trial, the women stood up and chanted “we’re guilty, we’re guilty,” but that was the least of their trial shenanigans.

This incident reminded me of the Orlando Fla. traffic stop a bout 10 years ago of the Black police captain from Coral Springs Fla.. Instead of taking a ticket and fighting it in court he fought the officers on side of road. After playing the race card, like Gates, and receiving money he was thrown out of the C.S. police force.

Wonder when the officer will have to go on an apology tour? I can just imagine him making the mea culpa rounds, and standing in the public square with a sign around his neck. Good thing for him that pillory is no longer employed. Perhaps he should take early retirement. Fine officers like him don't need abuse. On the other hand, a nice defamation suit would be nice. Or retire and file the suit.

Gates, up to this point, has never been arrested or mistreated by the police, by his own admission. This time, he was contacted by an officer that was protecting Gates’ own home, and he responded with contempt, shouting down the officer with “This is what it’s like being black in America.”

Yes indeed, Mr. Gates, yes indeed.

You know, I’ve been saying for YEARS, when will the Irish get reparations...LOL! Most of the time my response has been a dirty look and a scowl, it makes me giggle each and every time.

I put this one up every so often to make fun of Reparations, and thought you'd enjoy it...

Dear Ted Kennedy:

I would like to ask you to champion my cause, which has for too long failed to get the respect it deserves. I come from a proud people with a long heritage. My people were clustered together in a afar away land, struggling against a harsh world and famine, when circumstances beyond our control brought us to America deep in the steerage of overcrowded boats. Hounded by hunger and with our native lands stolen from us by foreigners, we arrived here in America, only to find that because of our heritage, when jobs were to be had, we “need not apply.” Our physical nature, especially our hair, marked us as “different’ to the extent that you could usually pick my people easily out of a crowd, making us the butt of cruel and vindictive jokes. We were mercilessly charactratured in newspapers and magazines as hulking, dumb brutes, gullible and foolish, and as being hostile and always ready for a fight.

Access to the work that that was available to my people was controlled by the Democratic Party, agents of the American government, and we had to trade our votes to ward bosses in order to even get work enough to feed our families. Those very bosses bought our votes with a drug called “alcohol”, ensuring their own corrupt enterprises would thrive. We were told where to live, where to work, and how to vote, and were cruelly exploited. My great, great, great grandfather had to bow down to The Man in order to provide for his family, and even today, I bear the emotional scars of that exchange to the extent that I cannot possibly find a job.

By now, you realize that I am speaking of my people, the Irish.

I demand that this endless parade of human misery must stop here and now. I require that reparations be paid to myself, and all other “sons of the Sod”, to in some small way balance out the horrible exploitation of my people that your political party, and by extension, America has done.

I further demand that as of the first of the month, a large monthly stipend be issued in the form of a “beer stimulus”. This would normally be paid in Guinness, but lesser beers may be substituted if that is unavailable. And we’re going to need some packets of chips as well. Do what is right, Teddy. This has gone on too long!

It's am OBOT plan. I saw this posted on DU today.

Here is what they are saying at DU and it is exactly what crossed my mind last night when he made that the last question, then walked away. We can’t let our guard down and I don’t think for one second he goofed. Everything he does is carefully planned and manipulative.

Here is the post:

Let me explain what’s going to happen. The media, which is one of the main enemies in the h/c fight, has now been distracted from their concerted anti h/c reform propgoganda campaign. He just totally disrupted the propoganda campaign. The media is going to go NUTS over this nothing story because of the racial overtones. Meanwhile, Obama will be working the back rooms twisting arms and getting healthcare done w/out the distraction of the idiot media peddling Republican lies about it in any prominent way.

Instead, the idiot media will focus on this non-story and the BASE OF THE RIGHTWING, instead of FIGHTING TO DEFEAT HEALTHCARE will be sent into a FR0THING RAGE about Obama’s comment. Obama just completely distracted the Rightwing base and took them out of the game. He took out their ground game.

Meanwhile, OUR groundgame is DEEPLY committed and not so easily distracted and will continue to FIGHT and WORK. Now, I’m not saying this was planned in advance, I have no idea. In fact, maybe O wasn’t aware of the fallout from his comment. But then again, maybe he’s playing them like a fiddle.
