White House Won't Name 'Colorado Woman' In Health Care Speech
DenverChannel ^

DENVER -- President Barack Obama specifically profiled the plight of a Colorado woman failed by the health care system in Wednesday night's nationally televised address.

But when 7NEWS started asking basic questions such as where is she from and what is her name, the administration that prides itself on being transparent wouldn't say a word.

In Wednesday night's speech, Obama said, "This is about the woman in Colorado who paid $700 a month to her insurance company, only to find out that they wouldn't pay a dime for her cancer treatment, who had to use up her retirement funds to save her own life." Click here to find out more!

Pretty compelling stuff, right?

Her story is so important that the president told it to the entire country.

7NEWS thought it was important enough to fact check.

But when we called the White House Press Office to find out more about this very public story, a spokesman said the White House wants to protect the woman's privacy and won't be releasing any information about her.

Not her name. Not where she's from. Nothing.

When there are so many people suffering, coming forward with health care nightmares, why choose to highlight a woman you can't name? Does the woman actually exist?

The woman is a classic construct, a confabulation of a dissinformation campaign - it’s a genre and today’s media are so poorly trained as journalists that themselves have been falling for it for years when the story is about a Black or an Hispanic or a Muslim. Digging for facts is passe; “saving the world” is the mantra of the journalist.
BO and company are weavers of disinformation; that’s the only job they’re doing.

The Obama administation’s legislative initiatives are just as much dissinformation as the tales about Obama’s background, his birth and the circumstances of his upbringing, his elementary school years in Indonesia, and the facts of his rise to power.

The colleges and graduate schools have turned younger minds to mush in just about every field except the hard sciences. To reporters schooled in the past forty years everything that happens that involves an African American, an Hispanic or a Muslim is “racism” (Asians on the whole are not written about in the same way, since it’s an inconvenient truth that, despite the color of their skin, the Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, etc have succeeded mightily and in such large numbers), everything’s “big bad American companies” who dare make profit.

Obama’s at the front of the bandwagon trashing big American companies like the automakers and the insurance companies and the American economy and in doing so destroying also little American companies.

We’re on the brink of a nightmare that will have those who voted for Obama scurrying around trying to figure out who to blame other than themselves. While they still have some ability to choose, journalists and Congress need to wake up immediately and realize that serving as shameless propagandists for a Marxist take-over of their country might not be the brightest thing to be doing. But first they’ll have to do the remedial work of reading the texts and harrowing history of Communism and Marxism and the bloody horrors wherever they were implemented - topics their teachers skipped in setting their curriculum.

One of Harvard’s affirmative action recruits, Professor Gates, acting like a flaming jerk with the Cambridge and Harvard police and then to top it off self-righteously using the race card to claim he was racially profiled during his nighttime, highly suspicious forcing entry into his house through the window and dissing the police who showed up is another examples of the media’s inability to tell likely facts from fiction, or worse yet, not caring. BO has been silent on the plights of entire people’s and feels moved to address the American public in defense of Gates, whom the police report from Cambridge, along with witness testimony, show he acted like a flaming, arrogant, uncooperative, egotistical jerk. What elected official friend of Gates shares those characteristics?

Almost as good as this;

Jim Lehrer: Which beings us to our final question. Governor Bush, both you and the Vice-President have offered plans to provide prescription drugs for the elderly. What makes your plan superior?

Al Gore: Jim, I’d like to interrupt here and answer that question as if it were my turn to speak. Jim, let me tell about a friend of mine. [ holds up a picture of an elderly woman ] Her name is Etta Munsen. She’s 94, she’s a widow living on Social Security in Sparta, Tennessee. Etta was born with only one kidney. She also suffers from poilo, spinal menengitis, lung, liver, and pancreatic cancer, an enlarged heart, diabetes, and a rare form of styctic acne. Now, several recent strokes, along with an unfortunate shark attack, have left her paralyzed and missing her right leg under the knee. Just last week she woke from a coma to find that, due to a hospital mix-up, her left arm had been amputated, infected with syphillis, and then reattached.

Jim Lehrer: Mr. Vice-President, we are short of time..

Al Gore: As you can imagine, Jim.. Etta’s prescription drug bills are staggering. They run to nearly $113 million a day! And she tells me that some weeks she has to choose between eating and treating her Lyme Disease. Now, under my plan, Etta’s prescription drugs would be covered. Under my opponent’s plan, her house would be burned to the ground. And that is wrong. That is just wrong!

Remember when the libtards squealed (and still do) that we only claimed to have intel on the WMD’s and were on the witch hunt about “what evidence”?

But they accept NO accountability to be responsible for the same when questioned for something they want to to use to take over the free market system?

This is simply the modern version of the McCarthy “letter in my hand” that he’d show and claim it was full of prominent American Communists.

"The irony is that policing the insurance industry is the primary responsibility of the States. Many of the States, particularly large red States (e.g., CA, NY, ILL) have ineffective insurance / health plan regulatory agencies."

Government has managed to bankrupt medicaide, and through it's regulatory power managemnt, it has made a mess out of our existing health care system.

Why in Gods name do people in this country think having government controlling the entire health care system will result in anything better?

The track record of government is clear; stupid politicians who haven't a clue about anything except running for election will not make our health care system better.

Donna Smith, a community organizer and legislative representative for the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing Committee (CNA/NNOC), was recently honored as the National Organization for Women’s (NOW’s) 2009 Woman of Action.

Smith first came to the public’s attention in Michael Moore’s 2007 movie, “SICKO.” Despite having health insurance and even a health savings account, Donna and her husband Larry were forced to move into their daughter’s basement after being unable to pay staggering health care costs—and were left in financial ruin.

Donna’s husband, Larry, suffered three heart attacks and Donna was diagnosed and treated for uterine cancer. There is even a scene in the movie “SICKO” where Michael Moore takes Donna to Cuba to get the necessary treatment their insurance wouldn’t pay for.

After the film was released, Smith became a health care activist, taking her story and those of other victims of the badly broken health care system around the country at rallies, teach-ins, seminars and demonstrations. She is a founder of the health care advocacy group American Patients United.

The Venona transcripts proved McCarthy to be correct in every particular, except that he underestimated the number of communist agents in the State Department.

McCarthy being correct doesn’t mean he wasn’t lying when he did the “letter in my hand” bit.

In the same way, even if this woman exists, the President is lying when he says this is a typical sort of experience and that his health care plan will stop it. Upthread, someone pointed out that this story is similar to one portrayed in the movie “Sicko,” where a woman was supposedly paying that much for a health plan, then got shafted by her insurance company when she got uterine cancer and her husband had a series of heart attacks. What Zero won’t tell you is that if we get the plan he wants, she wouldn’t have been able to use her savings to save her life (”Sorry, but we can’t start chemo for six months”) and her husband would probably be written off as a case of futile medical expenditures.
