In a pilot program, the charitable arm of Citigroup is giving the National Council of La Raza money to help buy foreclosed homes in Phoenix for rehabilitation and ultimate purchase by low-and moderate-income Latino families.
In all, New York-based Citi Foundation is providing $1.75 million to the NCLR, of which $235,000 will go to its Raza Development Fund. That'll allow the fund to acquire, maintain and rehab properties to sell or lease. Raza Development Fund chief Tom Espinoza says the fund will add about $4 million and federal stimulus program money will boost the total to about $12 million to target bank-owned vacant foreclosed properties.
He's hoping at least 100 families in three hard-hit Hispanic neighborhoods in Phoenix will be able to buy homes.

Homebuyers, beware of buying in an area with numerous foreclosures. Fannie, Freddie, La Raza and ACORN will be moving “the hood” into these homes, and you will regret your purchase big time.

The big govt controled banks are doing their bidding. I suggest that everyone move their accounts to credit unions controled by the members. They give better service and much lower or no fees. Don’t patronize the govt companies like GM, Chrysler, Citibank, AIG, BoA, etc. get away from these big loosers and force them out of business. Without depositers these banks are dead.
This calls for a boycott of Citigroup.

I moved my account to the credit union months ago, and love it. The customer service is superior to any bank.
You are off Base. Christians, who say they are followers of Christ, got duped and voted for someone who prefers to let children die if they are still clinging to life after a partial birth abortion procedure.
Never have used CitiGroup and surely don’t intend to use them for anything.

I suspect that's just one local aspect of a massive national transfer of taxpayer money to La Raza via Citigroup.
