NEWARK, N.J. Officials are decrying political corruption in New Jersey after more than 40 people, among them rabbis and elected officeholders, were arrested in an investigation in which some were accused of laundering tens of millions of dollars and of black-market trafficking of kidneys and fake Gucci handbags.

"New Jersey's corruption problem is one of the worst, if not the worst, in the nation," said Ed Kahrer, who heads the FBI's white-collar and public corruption division. "Corruption is a cancer that is destroying the core values of this state."
Something we can all be proud of.....NOT!!
Someome cue Nancy Pelosi’s “stench of corruption” line
I am sick of all of them, both parties.
like a bullfighter waves the red cape away from his own private parts.
H/T to Jersey Republican Biker Chick
I’m personally still proud of my New Jersey roots. We were not involved in any of this nor were my family and friends. Why would I not still be proud of where I was born and raised??? Not good to group ... these people are criminals but they do not speak for the rest of the good people of New Jersey.
I know many were on the local level, but interesting that there is absolutely no Party identification in the article at all. Not that Republicans are excempt from this kinda stuff, but this smacks as Democrat payoff machine type tactics.
as they wipe the sweat off their brow and pass another envelope of cash.
The 44 arrests Thursday were a remarkable number even for New Jersey, where more than 130 public officials have pleaded guilty or have been convicted of corruption since 2001.
Good point...ha ha ha
GREAT. They’ve cut off my ONLY source of fake Gucci handbags filled with human kidneys wrapped in unmarked $100 bills.
What the heck am I supposed to do now? I’ve only got a couple left and the weekend’s coming up!
“All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.” What a shock.
On a side note, I do a LOT of traveling for business and pleasure and I ride my bicycle through some very seedy neighborhoods. Well,I was headed east towards the Newark airport one time and decided to pull off the freeway west of downtown to top off the tank of the rental car. It was the only time in my entire life (I’m 55) I was literally afraid to get out of my car in broad daylight.
I turned in the car with a half full tank.
new jersey has always been the scum pit of america
The initial news article listed the R but did not mention any party affiliation for the D’s....ha ha ha ha
Are you from NJ? You sure know how the game gets played. :o)
I got lost in that neighborhood once.....never so scared in my life, and I was a guard in a men’s state prison.
Ninth paragraph. Last sentence.
All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.
I’ll bet the farm the other one is an east coast RINO in full color.....
reminds me of a joke: Rita and Vinnie are making out in a car.
Rita: Vinnie, kiss me where it stinks.
So Vinnie drove her to NJ.
Happened under Corzine,Lautenberg and Menendez. They should resign!!!!
This also gives the state-run media cover to ID the Republican in all stories and omit any references to Democrats.
ALL BUT ONE OF THE OFFICEHOLDERS WERE DEMOCRATS!!!
I’m shocked I tell ya.
Sheesh, culture of corruption.
So that's why their party affiliation is being kept secret by the media. If they were all Republicans, this "Republican scandal" would fill the news cycle 24/7 for at least a year.
Gawd I have no respect for the media. What a bunch of losers.
I have a penny (the proverbial “red cent”) that says the rabbis in this case are Liberal Democraps.
This guy has it all wrong.
Corruption IS the core value of this state.
NJ is a beautiful state. Stayed with my sister and totally enjoyed riding the train from Morristown to NYC. The little towns were so charming. I wanted to stop at every one to walk around.
Still NJ is a little weird with no left turns and no pumping your own gas...
New Jersey, the very definition of a blue state, corrupt?
I’m shocked, SHOCKED!
Convict the perps, and send them to be hired by the Obamaloon for his cabinet.
Took nine paragraphs before we get to this
“Among the 44 people arrested were the mayors of Hoboken, Ridgefield and Secaucus, Jersey City’s deputy mayor, and two state assemblymen. A member of the governor’s cabinet resigned after agents searched his home, though he was not arrested. All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.”
This is how Republican Bret Schundler ended up getting elected in a Democratic stronghold like Jersey City some years ago. He was the lone Republican on the ballot with a bunch of different Democrats.
The Jersey Devil:
In other news, the White House referred to the New Jersey politicians as, “amateurs.”
All but one of the officeholders are Democrats.
Hey, RNC, are you going to hammer this?
Why can’t we see photos of each of the 44?
accused of laundering tens of millions of dollars and of black-market trafficking of kidneys and fake Gucci handbagsKinda puts Monica Conyers and Detroit area "government" into perspective, eh?
Go down to the Jersey Shore. The roads are beautiful, the countryside is beautiful, lots of farms and fruit stands and in the fall the pumpkins and gourds are gorgeous. It’s charming to say the least and I have fond memories being born and raised there. I actually like not pumping my own gas so heading there is OK with me as I don’t pump my own anyway. :)
