U.S. Reps Want Investigation of Travel 'Blacklist'

WASHINGTON, D.C. Three central Florida members of the state's Congressional delegation have signed their names to a letter sent this week to the U.S. General Accounting Office, demanding an accounting for a supposed "no meetings" list for official federal conventions or other business.

There is no evidence that such a list exists, and federal agencies have not said there is one, but U.S. representatives Suzanne Kosmas, Alan Grayson, and John Mica are the Floridians who signed a letter calling for an investigation.

The supposed list includes tourist draws of Orlando and Las Vegas, where officials could use tax dollars to finance a convention that might also be perceived as a vacation.

Just heard this today. I thought I heard them mention Bill Nelson (D-Senate, Fla.) putting forth an amendment to make it illegal for the govt. to blacklist places like this. I am sure he has taken some heat over this. LOL!

Well I remember when Obama stopped Wells Fargo from having a get together in Las Vegas for their employees. He didn't like it because they had taken tarp money (probably under duress). At the time I said "What about the hotel maids who are laid off because this event is not happening. The CIC doesn't seem to understand that his actions and words cost people jobs.

I would also not put it past him to have some sort of list, excluding any area that did not vote for him from ever having a convention. He has no clue how a republic or even a democracy is supposed to work.

I feel like we should be insulted that here with the Rocky Mountains, first class national parks and the winter ski industry we're not a "resort" destination. But hey, our convention and tourism people are happy for the feds' business.

BTW, all you federal employees, Black Hawk and Central City just got roulette and craps and 24 hour casinos. So, you can still party!

The government should have started a month ago protesting at the highest levels Jacqui Smith’s ridiculous ban in Britain of native son and defender of free speech, Michael Savage. The Brits saw the craziness of it and booted out Smith. Now the new officials of the Homeland office need to do what’s right and stop the groundless persecution of a man who stands for the core values of the British nation.
