Fla. gov's office mistakenly praises Nazi film (Thank You letter w/Crist's machine signature sent)

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Despite the content of a letter bearing his signature, Gov. Charlie Crist does not want to share an anti-Semitic movie with all Floridians.

Crist's office sent a letter thanking John Ubele for providing the governor with a copy of the film "Jud Suss." The film is recognized as one of history's most incendiary.

The brief thank-you note was dated June 30 and bore the governor's automated signature. It praised Ubele's thoughtfulness and generosity and said Crist would be delighted to share the DVD with the people of Florida.

"I was surprised considering the stigma that has been associated with the film," Ubele said Friday in an exchange of e-mails with The Associated Press. "I was even more surprised when I looked at the signature because from what I can tell it looks real."

The governor's office, however, said it was an embarrassing mistake. The signature was made by a machine and Crist never saw the letter, said Sterling Ivey, the governor's press secretary.

I realize it’s a busy job, but to me it shows how utterly meaningless it is to receive anything in the mail from any of these poser idiots. It’s all just direct marketing.

Sounds like Congress - they vote for bills without reading them.

I bet it ruins his political career though. Democrats are past masters at using even inadvertent missteps by opponents to destroy them.

Wow... so I send some random crap and receive a auto-response.

And this proves... what? That Crist is a Nazi?

Sheesh!!!

Dumb. Considering this is Florida, it is even dumber. What’s the Jewish population in Florida again?

And this proves... what?

That some of his staffers are ignorant.

The movie is so over the top, even Goebbels couldn't stand it.

So, who was the “stooge” of the democrats who SENT the movie?

Who was the stooge in the ABCNNBCBS media who propagandized and promoted the letter received from Christ (er, Crist)?

Who in the news media who are are promoting this story?

Ingenious lib gotchya. Of course, anyone could duplicate the fete by sending the same movie to a liberal Democrat.

Here is a link to the movie, I’m only posting it for historical purposes. I try to watch as many of the Nazi and Imperial Japanese movies as I can so I can have some concept as to what made these bizarre people tick. And its not a good “tick”, I can tell you that.

This actually raises an odd point. There is lots of “Nazi culture” kept in archives, that is not for public release, but is of increasing historical value. When it is released, for scholarly review, there is the conundrum that some will fear it will become iconic to neo-Nazis; or that it has some kind of “inherent power” that will make people who see it want to become Nazis.

This latter reason is why much “Nazi art”, by otherwise passable German artists of the period, remains in the National Archive and is not for public display or review. Afraid that seeing Hitler wearing shiny steel armor, astride a unicorn, might turn people into Nazis.

But this also causes the loss of rare and valuable pieces of history. For example, I knew of a history professor who had, for years, negotiated to obtain some of the last remaining Nazi elementary school textbooks. The only known surviving complete set.

His university library received them in the mail, then promptly discarded them, because they were “old”. Before noting in their records that he had requested them. Well, hopefully some collector picked them up in the bargain bin, so they will not be lost forever.
